There were many things about this inn that were phenomenal, and some that were lacking, but I was torn between a 4 or 5-star review because people need to have reasonable expectations for where they are staying. Read to the end for details and the hands-down best feature, but the quick rundown is:
Pros:
- Location
- Price
- So clean!
- Comfortable, clean bedding with extras in the rooms
- Wonderful front desk greeting (we arrived 15 minutes after closing, and the front desk clerk texted us while we were on the road and stayed just to check us in!)
- The option to leave housekeeping supplies as a "care package" at the front door instead of entering the room to clean
- QUIET. Seriously. It was like sleeping in a tomb. And we know there was no vacancy during our stay, and a large family with kids next door!!
Cons:
- The squishy, bouncy beds were strange. Not uncomfortable for us because we both slept well in our respective beds, but I wouldn't want to share the bed with someone else if I were a light sleeper.
- Outlets. My room had one, which was occupied by the two end table lamps. I had to disconnect one lamp to charge my phone.
- Only a microwave for heating food in the kitchenette. This is fine and possibly a building code restriction since these buildings are very old, but clarifying the definition of a "kitchenette" is helpful.
- The shade on the glass window of the exterior door of my room did not block out light. It would be very helpful to place a curtain rod over the door so a blackout panel can be pulled across the door at night (the second room of #8, the two-room suite).
I don't expect the same accommodations at an inexpensive roadside inn as I do at a 5-star resort, and at first glance, the rooms are as basic as it gets. I can tell everything was the least expensive, Home Depot/IKEA options they could buy (kitchenette cabinets, shelf in the bathroom, plumbing fixtures, flooring, etc.). This is fine, since again, the price told me not to expect much. But our other first impression was how clean everything was! I expect some "old" smells in older places, and there was nothing. No musty smell and (best of all) no overpowering cleaning product or air freshener smells. This is huge, as many cheaper places try to cover things with scents. The kitchenette was very simple, and again, very clean. We had a 2-room suite, and there was a cheap, tiny table with two chairs, two armchairs, and no sofa or loveseat for comfort. No big deal, just a "good to know." The absolute best part of our entire stay was how QUIET the rooms are! When I say quiet, I mean we heard NOTHING. I know there was a family with kids next door and no vacancy. I couldn't hear people talking, snoring, moving about, etc. Even my roommate had no idea I had showered, dressed, and watched a show on my phone in the morning before I opened the door between our rooms! We both slept so well, we were sad to go home because we wanted at least a couple more nights! We can't wait to come back! read more
