Third time staying, Rooms are spacious, breakfast is awesome, close to downtown, friendly staff. Downside is parking, we were told we couldn't park near where our room was. We had to park across the street. It was a torrential downpour while visiting. There was an old crusty van parked in the suite parking, looks like a storage unit that sits, and we believe it's a staffs car who lives there permanently, it never moved the 3 nights we stayed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the grass Valley Courtyard suites. It had the quaint charm we were looking for in grass Valley and would definitely stay here again. I really enjoyed the location, you could walk to the old town area in just a few minutes. I also really enjoyed the complementary breakfast which included omelettes made in a waffle maker, I had never seen this, and it was fantastic! All the staff was super friendly and very helpful. In every way, I even got to meet there cat mascot who hangs out in the lobby, seemingly 24 hours a day. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit to Grass Valley. read more

just stayed here room 7040 handicap room. front desk staff pleasant. room shower exploded got scalded then they sent us to another room with regular tub causing danger for us in middle of night had to walk across the hotel like we were camping out could not use our own shower. next day they came mid morning supposedly fixed it that night went to use our handicap shower and guess what shower head would not stay in its holder because fitting was too large fell out bobbed me in my head had to fight with it wouldn't work. we checked out say early couldn't take the stress . Asked GM that we should be compensated some sort of discount. Said we already got our senior discount. DO NOT GO to this hotel shower had black mold and pink mold on the handicap shower bench. Not very clean rooms were very very stuffy. read more

As far as the accommodations are concerned "ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL". The gal at the front desk was very nice and made sure that our stay was going to be fantastic. The room was very cozy-comfy with all the amenities and even better than some of the big chains we have stayed in around the country. I do have one complaint however the neighbors we had were not very considerate. I mean that they were up until all hours of the night Yelling, Laughing, Slamming Doors, and carrying on. I don't know what the regulation is but it sounded like there were at least 20 people making all this noise. My wife went to the front desk and made a complaint she was told that the staff would not be able to say anything until 22:00 hrs. Well they must have said something because at about 22:00 hrs the noise did quite down quite a bit. Then at 22:30 the noise level rose to ungodly levels and as I laid in bed I found myself using some Cotton Balls in my ears to deaden the noise level. We will be staying here one more night and hopefully we won't have the same issues. read more

Was visiting from TN. Had made reservations at a place my mom had previously stayed, we left after one night. My husband used to rent rooms here for his work crews and highly recommended it. I called and spoke to Kyra. I explained what a horrible experience we had at the other hotel. She was fantastic and was able to accommodate us immediately!! We are so grateful for her and the Courtyard staff. The room is absolutely beautiful, modern, clean and most importantly... just like a home! Theres beautiful grounds with benches and BBQs, a fountain and lush landscape. There's a fitness center, pool, hot tub, sauna, and breakfast! And the best part... they allow you to bring your dog! It's walking distance from downtown restaurants and shops. Makes for easy access to everything you need. We highly recommend making your plans to stay here! Excellent staff and accommodations! Grass Valley Courtyard was so gorgeous! For Valentine's Day, we wanted to get away from the city to have a romantic evening. I just so happened to find this hidden gem! The pictures I saw online actually confused me. But I should have read the description... the stone building was what I thought it was, but going back, the description of that particular picture says "point of interest." That's ok! We weren't there to admire the buildings. When we arrived, the woman who checked us in was so pleasant! Her cute, adorable, happy dog, Precious, was also there to greet us, too! As we checked in, she showed us where it was ok to park. There were actually not a lot of choices for parking. Thankfully, the buildings aren't too far from each other, and the walk was only a minute to our cozy room. As we entered, the bed was beautifully made. The decor was stylish and very pleasing to the eye. There was a jetted bathtub which I didn't know about! There was a small TV in the room, and it was very confusing because it took two remotes to work it. The table in our room was perfect to set up our romantic dinner for two that I had prepared before we left home (braised red wine short ribs over garlic mashed potatoes). We did move our table over to the fireplace and ate our meal while listening to our playlist. The bed was very comfortable (should be with temperpedic). We had fluffy pillows. We kept the fireplace on for a little while (it was set up with a timer). When it got too warm, we turned on the air conditioner. The refrigerator in the room came stocked with adult beverages and other drinks and a water for an extra charge, of course, if you choose to partake. It took up a lot of space in the refrigerator, so we took it out to put our leftover dinner in. The hot continental breakfast was good. They offered omelets with your choice to add spinach cheese, bell peppers, and bacon. I wish they had told me it was bacon bits because I would have said no to that, but the omelets were made in a waffle iron and tasted good except for the hard bacon bits. The continental breakfast also offered bagels and other bread to toast. Muffins, cereal, oatmeal, and fruits. Coffee, hot tea, juice... but not water. I loved that the breakfast room was decorated with art on the walls (for sale!) and flowers on every other table. My biggest complaint is that the person above us was stomping around at 2:45 a.m. It startled me awake. They didn't seem to have any respect for us below them. The stomping went on for a while. Even after we came back from breakfast, it continued. It didn't ruin our trip, but I did let the front desk know, and it didn't seem to cease. This was a wonderful romantic trip for us. We enjoyed our walk through town. I do look forward to staying here again! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Small quaint well kept clean grounds with an amazing staff and very comfortable rooms and mattresses. Some premium channels as well! Separate area with tables and a barbecue and a grassy area to take your pets. Check-in was a breeze. Mandy was very kind and accommodating. They serve a fabulous breakfast every morning with Belgian waffles and nice big omelettes also made in the waffle maker, which was very unique and worked well. Carol did a fantastic job. They have a resident cat named Teetee that sleeps there every day and is just a little doll. Nice temperature pool as well as Jacuzzi surrounded by a lot of beautiful Ivy, wisteria, and grape vines for privacy. They have a social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 every night, which was lovely as well. They serve nice white or red wine with an array of little snacks to enjoy. My only complaint was the Maid service. Three nights in a row they failed to replenish the Kleenex or the coffee stirrers or the lotion or something. We had to ask. Other than that a spectacular visit and highly recommend! read more

While not a luxury hotel, the staff that runs this lovely compound, apparently owned by a loving and caring elder is amazing. A one of a kind, immaculate compound of separate buildings with beautiful landscaping. In addition to how it looks is the team that runs this operation. I wish I remembered everyone's name but Kiera and Carol I last spoke to, so I recall their names the best . You walk into the registration and adjacent Cafe, where complementary freshly prepared waffles, omelette (amazing) you've ever had. Coffee, tea, juices, breads, fresh fruit..... in the evening they set out Chardonnay, Merlot, Cab, cheese, crackers, mixed nuts a veritable feast. I have a standard poodle and she was treated like royalty. I understand they have a Facebook page as well with photos of all their canine and feline guests. I did see a fairly large swimming pool and understand they also have a fitness room. I honestly can't wait to go back because now I love Grass Valley too. read more

First time staying here and thoroughly impressed! Rooms are huuuge, nicely furnished and seem to have good soundproofing. Front desk service is friendly, helpful and efficient. Snacks and mini-bars in the rooms are a nice amenity in a town that shuts down on the early side. Excellent location easily walkable to downtown dining and shopping. We LOVE staying at the Grass Valley Courtyard Suites. The entire staff is so kind and accommodating. Special shout out to Keira who answered all my questions and even remembered us at check in and our pups. They ensure everything about your stay is as homey and welcoming. We inquired this trip about their pet sitting and were introduced to Carol. She truly went above and beyond to make our two dogs feel comfortable, and they were incredibly well taken care of and spoiled rotten. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and treats yours like her own. The room was clean, comfy and perfect for our family of three and animals. Grass Valley Courtyard Suites is an amazing place to stay. I am currently staying here with my CA Guard fire season activation, and I am enjoying my time very much. The rooms are very clean and up to date with a nice king size bed, tv, bath with jets, fridge and other amenities. In addition to this, the property has a nice pool, gym, spa, sauna and laundry on site. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly. I would like to give a shoutout to CAROL who works in the mornings when I get breakfast at 6 am. She is super cheerful, up beat, and always helpful. She has made me an omelet the past few mornings, and it is delicious. To add to Carol's customer service, when I was having trouble with my tv and air, she had it fixed by the time I returned for the evening. Thank you so much! On another note, the property has a cat. Can I give this place 100 stars? I've never been to Grass Valley so I was a bit hesitant to book a stay in the area. All I can say is that my kids and I felt like we were at home. The woman working at the front desk was super nice and I had no issues checking in. I had no problems looking for parking - I was able to park my car safely under the carport in front of my room. I booked the Luxury King Room which was extra spacious. The entire room was super clean and comfortable. The fireplace worked fine, the bed was comfortable, and so was the couch. The only downside, which wasn't the hotel's fault, was the air quality. My son had a hard time accepting the fact that it was unsafe to go swimming but I'll eventually make it up to him. Anyway, Grass Valley Suites provides a complimentary breakfast -- we ordered cereal, waffles, and omelets. The orange juice tasted watered down but it wasn't a biggie. The location: Super quiet. If you're addicted to Target like me, the nearest one is 19 miles away. There is a cafe around the corner from the Suites. But there isn't that many dining options nearby. But if you like to order food through DoorDash, don't order from the Thai food restaurant nearby (the food was gross). This was absolutely one of the best places that I've ever stayed. Will definitely come back with my family and hopefully we could go swimming next time. read more

My wife and I stayed at Grass Valley Courtyard Suites Sunday through Wednesday in April 2022. As I approached the lobby to check in, I saw a cat seated in the middle of the lobby desk staring at me. I am extremely allergic to cats. Ten percent of Americans are allergic to cats. I had my wife complete the check in because I did not want to get sick. We were initially assigned a room next to the lobby. I asked for a different room because I didn't want to get sick. We incurred an upcharge because it was a better room, further from the lobby. I asked the clerk if the cat was always in the lobby, and asked if it went into the breakfast area. She said it comes and goes, and she really didn't know. She stated that 'we are pet friendly, so we have our animal ambassador in the lobby.' I explained to her that this is not a common understanding of 'pet friendly.' She shrugged. I did not see any point in further discussions about cat policy at the local level. I avoided the lobby, but every time I passed through to get breakfast the cat was in the lobby, mostly on the couch. All the nice things people say in their reviews are true, but it does not really matter if you are 1 of 10 people who get sick around cats. read more

The Courtyard Suites was luxurious, clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location and restaurants within walking distance to downtown Grass Valley. The bed was very comfortabble and it had all the amenities you would need. Morning breakfast had a variety of breakfast foods and waffles or omelette made in a waffle iron. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. My son booked the room for me and told them I was traveling with my dog. When I entered my amazing room there were 2 nice metal dog bowls, hand made blanket, dog bones and potty bags. I had a outside sitting area with plants and a couple chairs. My room was towards the back, which is what I wanted, and very quiet. Well worth the money for such an amazing place. read more

Just enjoyed a great "staycation" at GVCS. Our room was gorgeous! High ceilings, a historical brick wall, the most comfortable bed I've ever enjoyed, great pillows, perfect layered linens made for a perfect nights sleep. The room had every nicety I could want. We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub with the living fence of vines, grapes and flowers. Looks and smells like Hawaii. The fresh breakfast of breads, fruit, juices and custom omelette (at the pool again) made for a perfect way to start the day. Shopping was a short walk to Mill St, and lots of dining choices. I'll be back soon! A bargain at twice the price. Everyone we encountered was cheerful, friendly and helpful. I personally loved being welcomed by a pretty white kitty. The other 90%. read more

How has no one mentioned the hotel cat yet?! It did belong to someone and had a collar on. It was so sweet and friendly. It even followed us into our room at one point! Anyways, this hotel is going to be my future place to stay when coming to Grass Valley. It's clean, quite, and feels safe. The staff seems really nice and helpful. It's close to downtown, perfect walking distance. They have a free wine hour with snacks and juice/wine. Big, multi-option breakfast. This is the cutest quaintness hotel very clean and wonderful comfy beds and a nice warm breakfast! We love it!

One employee, carol has discriminated against me for my disabilities and for having a medical alert service dog. She wouldn't allow me to have my dog in the breakfast area (who was silent and not doing anything) but is ok with other guests having their pet dogs in their barking and eating off the plates. I didn't have gear on my dog, because I had just gotten her. And my previous service dog had burned alive in our house fire that destroyed everything. The staff was well aware of all this info because my husband and I kept them informed. This same employee then a few days later, decided to made snide remarks and start an argument with me over the fact that I complained to the manager about her. I am not proud of it but I took the bait and argued, as I felt I needed to stand up for myself. As I waited for the manger to show up to work to talk to her about this again, the same employee was then trash talking me to other guests. Housekeeping needs help. When we first checked in, nothing was stocked in the rooms. Bedroom door was falling off the hinges and a robe that was hung up was dirty as it had poop stains from the previous occupant. This is my favorite place to stay. My wife and I just bought a Tesla model 3 and wanted to take a road trip so we looked for places to stay in the gold country and found this place had destination chargers, so we decided to give it a try. Everything about this place is great. Our room was wonderful! The beds are very comfortable. I forgot to bring my pillow and found that their pillows were pretty good. Our room was nice and quiet. The room was fairly dark too, which was a plus. I like things pitch black and it didn't make it that far, but it was better than most. The one thing that could be improved would be blackout curtains. The free breakfast in the morning was pretty good too. The waffle was a little on the chewy side. Light and fluffy would have been better, but it was much better than most. The eggs were very good. There were a lot of other choices available too like fruit, cereal, milk, juices, and yogurt. The staff was very professional and friendly at all times. The whole place was well designed and extremely clean. Guests were well behaved (no loud late parties or obnoxious people). They have 3 destination chargers, includes two Tesla chargers. We were able to charge at a rate of 43 miles per hour, which is pretty good for a destination charger. When we arrived our model 3 was at 12%. When we left it was at 100% and ready for another 310 miles of driving. The next time I am in Grass Valley I will be staying here. Count me as a loyal customer. We've stayed there twice and loved it both times. The location is great, the rooms are roomy, spacious and full of amenities, comfortable beds and furniture and plenty of pillows. The rooms also have honor bars with snacks that are entirely reasonably priced - when do you see that in a hotel? The staff is outstanding. They go above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. The staff's attitude seems to spread to other guests, as we had long and friendly conversations with other guests during breakfast and happy hour (which are both excellent). They also have a rotating art show/sale in the lobby that was interesting and beautiful both times. We look forward to going back. Oh, location is great too; walking distance to local shops and restaurants. read more

When we checked in on Aug 5 around 2:30 pm, the staff told us to park the spaces without cover. She gave us a map, but still couldn't find the room, another staff was friendly and told us clearly the location of our room. Inside room 1051, the balcony was blocked by the house roof, 3 nights looking at the house roof in the balcony. Also the balcony floor was dirty with ashes... Very little tissue paper left on the dispenser, I have to replace it. Next day back to the room, it was mostly cleaned except the table, which we ate breakfast. Also they took all coffee cups without replacing them, I have to ask for replacement. It is difficult to close the room door properly. Regret to stay there during Covid 19. read more

My room is fantastic! Very comfortable bed and fully stocked mini bar. My room has a balcony that faces the inside of the property and other rooms. Very cool to be able to hear and see other people having a good time. I came for some personal family reasons and the staff was very accommodating with helping with some asks i had that really helped me out. The only gripe I have is the parking lot is quite small and I have a big truck that's a little difficult to maneuver, but it's manageable and didn't affect my overall stay and experience. I highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay in GV. read more
