Steer clear of their HS climbing program. It's poorly run with no communication with parents/guardians, as well as no organization as it pertains to getting climbers into monthly competitions. In my 30+ years of parenting I have never encountered such a poorly run athletic program. read more

my granddaughter had a week long camp there. Plenty of climbing lanes with a variety of difficulty. Also has a bouldering area. Equipment is clean and well maintained. Instructors were attentive, firm, and safety conscious. My granddaughter not only had serious fun - she also learned how to fall!! she even demonstrated it. Totally positive experience. As someone who hates traditional gyms, Adventure Rock was the perfect balance of an active workout while not feeling like I'm working out. My fiancée and I have been members for about 2 years now, and it's a great activity to do as a couple as well. A mental challenge, a physical challenge and a great friendly environment. High ceilings, good lighting, gold coast location, clif bars, toiletries, a refrigerator, best bubbler in the Mil, local celebrities, and I'm pretty sure there are beds in this building. The staff is the coolest and deserve a medal of some sort. Maya, Jon, Autumn, and all of the workers I regretfully can't remember names of are guardians of an adult playground for risk takers. I went here for the first time this past weekend with my Little (Adventure Rock supports Big Brothers Big Sisters!!) We had so much fun learning the ins and outs of rock climbing, as it was her first time ever trying it out. Never been before? No problem! They have staff readily available to walk you through what you need to know. An experienced climber? A perfect place for you as well! The space is fairly large. They have bouldering upstairs and regular climbing on the ground level. Beverages available to purchase, shoes and gear are available to rent, and family passes are relatively cheap! One of the cool things about their 10 session pass is you can use it with different people. I think that is a really nice perk. Snag a pass and take different friends or family -- it's a win win for everyone and a great way for some fun exercise! read more

It's the best place to rock climb indoors in Milwaukee. This place recently opened in June 2016, and before this I used to go to their Pewaukee location. The downtown location is a very nice upgrade! The staff is very helpful, funny, and friendly. They're there to help you out, and ensure you are safe! The gym has a plethora of rock climbing wall routes, difficulty, and style. Whether you're tall or short there's a route or Boulder problem for you! Be careful when you boulder though! The walls are higher than they seem. The "elephant nose" is a prominent feature in the gym, which is an overhanging lead route. You must only lead it to get up it, if you dare. It's not as intimidating as it looks! Plus you get cool plus points if you climb up it! There is also a small workout area where you can stretch and warmup. A couple of treadmills, ellipticals, full set of weights. Bring your own yoga mats for now. They also hold events from battle of the ages competition to their annual big competition: quick on the draw. read more

My husband and I have been frequenting this gym twice weekly for the last few months. We were completely new to the world of indoor rock climbing (or outdoor for that matter) and completely fell in love with it after visiting adventure rock. For your first visit, whether you are an experienced climber or not, you will need to sign a waiver (tip: do the waiver online before you get there to save time). They will do an initial tour and show you how the autobelays work, various climbing areas. It is short and mandatory. This gym is beautiful and larger than its Brookfield counter part. There are I think counting in my head 12 autobelay routes (which means you can climb without a partner, just go by yourself!), many more top rope and lead climbing routes. The entire second floor is just a big bouldering area. The routes get rotated every month or so , though I have seen them take longer to rotate. Having visited a few climbing gyms now, the staff is hands down the most chill and nice bunch, even if you don't know anything about climbing. A few things to consider while visiting, during the weekday day, it is almost always totally chill, only a few people there. Over the summer there seems to be a lot more field trips so consider calling ahead if this will ruin your climbing experience. During the evening hours this place can be absolutely insane. There is no parking garage, there is a decent amount of street parking and the area seems pretty safe. If you buy an adventure rock monthly membership, which is relatively inexpensive, especially when you consider that it could replace your entire gym membership all together, you get a free guest pass a month. Your guest will also get their harness, shoes and chalk bag on the house too! So sweet, make more climbing addicts! read more

Absolutely love this place. Have been a member for multiple years now at this point. They have levels of difficulty for everyone and opportunities to do a day pass or 10 pack if you don't want to commit to a membership. Great way to get in shape and meet some great people. The multiple locations are nice as well (Walkers Point, Brookfield, MKE) as you can get some variety in your routes if you start going more frequently. read more

I hate the gym. Seriously, every time I join a gym, I never make it past the six week mark. Usually, this means that I am stuck with classes, or waiting until the good weather to get some exercise, which is somewhat less than ideal. Classes have their own challenges, though, if you work long hours that are inconsistent. Enter: Adventure Rock! I've visited this place twice in 2018, in partnership with a Milwaukee Adventures meetup group. Adventure Rock offers an ideal environment- diverse in many ways, all kinds of challenge levels, bouldering, and workout equipment for warm up or cool down. The ambience is upbeat and fun, with music playing and none of the competitive annoyance of a typical gym. All levels are welcome, and they even have classes for little kids. Your entry fee includes harness and climbing shoes, and the staff are friendly and helpful with newbies. I'm waiting for the next Groupon membership, but highly recommend adventure rock for a different kind of fitness! read more

This is an absolute blast! I am pretty much terrified of heights and haven't climbed in years because of it. For my wife's birthday last week we went in and decided to stare fear in the face. They have an automatic belay system there for beginners which is excellent. It was super easy to get myself in and out of the equipment without having someone breathing down my neck or me feeling like i'm inconveniencing someone. There are plenty of routes of many difficulties to choose from and even for a novice, I was successful and had a great workout. It was affordable and challenging! Can't wait to go again! read more

Weren't trained on the equipment as much as I was expecting. Also weren't even given the option to use the belay system, even though we know how to use that as opposed to the clip and go mechanism. Fun and clean gym otherwise! Bouldering area was fun to play around and big enough for 15 people to be by (during COVID times). Came here while visiting MKE for a wedding. I was surprised at how large this gym was! The lead and top rope walls are enormous and a large variety in curvature. There's a lot of wall space and the density of holds is pretty good for these walls so there's lots of material to climb. The bouldering wall is on the mezzanine level and was fantastic. The setting is great and varied, the holds are dense, and there are great slab, cave, and overhung sections. I spent the majority of time here and there was always something new and interesting to work on. There's also a workout area in the gym as well as a shop to buy pretty much any climbing related gear. I thought the price for a day pass as well as a membership was really affordable and I'm not surprised that this is place is so popular. The staff here was also really friendly and help: they were more than willing to answer any questions that I had. read more

Please for the love of God bring one of these to Kenosha, it would be packed 24/7. My wife brought me here on a whim and I would have to say that it was one of the best day dates we've ever had. Getting started was no hassle whatsoever, we were climbing within 10 minutes of our arrival. They offer everything you need and leave you to it. The beginner routes with the auto belay systems were all we really needed. I would love to get more adept at this and learn to go onto the more technical sections. read more

Climbing, the walls are up to 43 feet high, there are auto belays, lead climbing, and lots of top roping. Plenty of slab and overhung to go about. There are no roofs to climb. Bouldering, large bouldering cave with plenty of space to chill and fall. Fitness area, lots of squat racks, pull up bars, climbing training, kettlebells, dumbbells, stretching mats, cardio equipment, etc. There is no matchboard. Pro shop, ropes, guidebooks, shoes, draws, harnesses, and more. Costs are reasonable for a membership but not so much for the casual once in a while climber. Wifi is free and a nice benefit to have. There is a party room too. Whats missing, the matchboard, better hours for the fitness users and late night climbs. There is technically no allowed parking in the parking lot across the street, so you are only allowed street parking. Lockers should be in the bathrooms, making the shower easy, with lockers around the bleacher areas, this would fix the space issue for the lockers. read more

Love it! If you like the gym in Pewaukee you will love this one. Bouldering area is up on a mezzanine above the entrance - I'd say they have at least twice the routes up there vs the old gym. As for TR / sport, I'd say you have 2-3 times as many ropes here. PLUS, my favorite thing is there is so much space! No more lowering onto people sitting on the floor! No more bouldering 3 inches away from some random dude! The holds are super grippy since they are new, so check them out before they get worn down. Also, there is a chimney area (YAY!), a big flake, and 3 different sized cracks. The one downside here is that the lead wall is much less overhung than the old gym, but I don't mind since I don't prefer really overhung routes. read more

It's been hard to find a way to stay active that I actually enjoy: this is the place! It's great because in addition to the climbing walls, they have a couple of machines (a rowing one, a couple ellipticals, treadmills, I think a weight area too?) that can be used if you're looking for a more well rounded workout. As a beginner, it takes a couple tries to see which routes are doable but it was worth it to figure it out! read more

This place is a great "third place". I head there every other day and spend a few hours climbing followed by weights. The staff are amazing and professional. If you are getting into rock climbing, don't be scared or intimidated. The gym will teach you all of the skills you need to be safe and have fun. If you are experienced, this is also a wonderful place. It isn't quite up to the level of Boulder's gyms, but the walls are darn good for being in the Midwest. read more

My kids and I climb here all the time. It's a great gym and they offer great programs, lessons, classes, camps, teams etc. The staff are fantastic. I think they get training on how to tolerate crabby old guys like me and make me feel welcome. My only gripe about this gym is that I don't own it. read more

I worked with Adventure Rock to schedule an event for my work with 30 people. The staff was great to work with during the planning process. During the day of, they did a great job of getting everyone signed in and trained. They also helped the group with certain climbs. They checked in with me multiple times to see if there was anything we needed. The facilities were super nice and there was plenty of places to park nearby. There was plenty of room for the group to climb and socialize. The party room was also a nice setup. Overall, this was a great event for us and everyone had a great time. read more

The height of the climbing wall is great and the routes are challenging. I really enjoyed my visit and recommend this place. My only concern is how quickly the harness line drops a person if they fall or on the way down. It drops way to fast and especially for people who weigh over 150lbs. I truly hope they can fix it. Courses should also be further apart so a climber doesn't swing over into your area. Otherwise this place is quite fun. read more
