Along the way, I confused my pickup date to be one day later than my actual pickup. When Lakeside called on my actual delivery date, I wasn't able to pickup the boat and without hesitation delivered the boat the following day with no additional costs or hassles. The person dropping the boat was terrific. He helped us inspect the boat, showed us how to operate, and quickly sent us on our way making sure we don't have any questions. Pickup up and delivery were right on time so we weren't left waiting at the boat landing. The pontoon boat was clean and well maintained with a 90 HP Mercury engine that worked flawlessly every time. We were able to water ski without too much trouble...some wanted a faster boat. 90 HP was fine...move to a 150 HP for a quicker start or just opt for a ski boat. We wanted both living room style comfort and sport for this trip. My final invoice didn't have any surprise costs and the gas cost was surprisingly cheap for the three days of fun. While renting this pontoon boat wasn't cheap with a average daily cost of $465/day (90 HP motor, gas, ski's, prop insurance, fence lake drop off, and taxes), we had a fun everyday without the hassle of boat ownership. One dealer…read moresaid he rarely has what we were looking for in his inventory -- but he can get one for us in eight-ten weeks, or he can get us one that is way bigger than we need in two weeks. Another dealer says the smallest pontoon he sells is 24 feet long with a 110HP outboard at $50k -- quite a bit more boat that this retired couple needs. Then I saw that Arbor Vitae Marine listed several boats in our size range (16' to 18') and price range ($20K to $25K) on their web site inventory so my wife and I decided to stop in and take a look. An hour or so later we sealed the deal and our new pontoon was on the way to our lake. For us the buying experience at Arbor Vitae Marine was excellent. The owner showed us all the boats in their inventory that were in our price range and met our needs. She clearly explained the features and options and took plenty of time to make us feel like Arbor Vitae Marine really appreciated our interest in their boats and wanted our business. As a first time pontoon buyer I feared it might be worse than buying at new car in the 1970's, but shopping with them was like dealing with a neighbor. After we purchased the boat the mechanics at Arbor Vitae Marine set it up with the outboard we selected and the owners delivered it to our dock (they just happen to live on the same lake that we do) two days later. After a short tutorial we were on the water enjoying our first pontoon ride around the lake. Arbor Vitae Marine sells Avalon Pontoons (which I will review in another Yelp posting specific to the brand) but l have to say here that the fit and finish and the overall quality of the boat is worth a five star review. I would recommend that anyone in the market for a new pontoon stops in at Arbor Vitae Marine to take a good look the Avalon brand. We selected a 25HP Tohatsu outboard for our boat. For me this was a motor I was not familiar with but after reading a bunch of on-line reviews it seemed to be a quality machine at a good price and I had no hesitation in selecting it for our boat. (I'll review the outboard separately at a later time) We plan to continue working with Arbor Vitae Marine for "winterization," storage, and "summerization," and for any service needs that arise in the future. I will amend my review as necessary after such service is rendered -- but for now, my initial experience is five stars -- as good as it gets.

Already with bids from competitors, we asked our boat dealer -- with no skin in the game -- for recommendations, and he specifically suggested that Floe makes good lifts. That led us to speaking with Adam and his family at Lakeside. The team was patient with all our questions. I looked for a local dealer that I could establish a relationship with. After talking with a couple folks in the area between Minocqua and Eagle River, I came across Lakeside Dock and Lift in Minocqua. I stopped in their store and was happy to find this was a well-equipped dealer with lots of docks and accessories available. I purchased a new canopy for my lift from Lakeside and what I got was a first-class product and it fit perfectly. After seeing many of my neighbors with power lifts, I decided to go back to Lakeside to look at what they had to offer. I was surprised (and happy) to see Andy Passow handling sales for Lakeside. As with every other time I have had dealings with Andy previously at a local snowmobile dealer, Andy has taken good care of me every time I've needed something. This time was no exception. I told him what I was looking for and he pointed out everything I needed and said they had everything in stock, and he could have it installed quickly. My lake home on Lake Minocqua is my weekend getaway, so I'm not typically there during the week. Andy said "that's not a problem", in a few days he sent one of their techs over during the week to my house with all the equipment and installed everything perfectly! When I returned the next weekend, everything was installed and waiting for me. Andy made everything quick and easy and my summers of manually cranking my lift up and down are over! The power lift worked perfectly and since Lakeside added that to my lift last summer, I can raise my boat out of the water without leaving my seat! He had my dad's quad at his shop off and on, dropping it off in 2023 completely and leaving it there. We originally dropped it off in 2020, and he still hasn't touched or looked at it. He then said 'Absolutely' when I asked for my bike back, but told me to get the f*** off his property, even though I was still being respectful. I took my bike, and while I was pushing it down the road, he made very mean comments and insulted me when I didn't say ANYTHING. VERY RUDE and would not recommend, as he is very childish. Once again, I was respectful the whole time, and he still proceeded to insult me and also pulled my dad's quad (which he had nothing to do with) and put it on the side of the highway, non-running, since he never looked at it or fixed it. My grandpa also had an experience with him and won't go to him anymore because it took weeks, and no one called or texted him.
