I cant say enough about how great Brad and his family have been to us for boat repair and storage…read more, these past 40 years ! They are always quick to respond and friendly .

I'd been looking for a pontoon boat that suits our needs for about a month with no luck. One dealer…read moresaid he rarely has what we were looking for in his inventory -- but he can get one for us in eight-ten weeks, or he can get us one that is way bigger than we need in two weeks. Another dealer says the smallest pontoon he sells is 24 feet long with a 110HP outboard at $50k -- quite a bit more boat that this retired couple needs. Then I saw that Arbor Vitae Marine listed several boats in our size range (16' to 18') and price range ($20K to $25K) on their web site inventory so my wife and I decided to stop in and take a look. An hour or so later we sealed the deal and our new pontoon was on the way to our lake. For us the buying experience at Arbor Vitae Marine was excellent. The owner showed us all the boats in their inventory that were in our price range and met our needs. She clearly explained the features and options and took plenty of time to make us feel like Arbor Vitae Marine really appreciated our interest in their boats and wanted our business. As a first time pontoon buyer I feared it might be worse than buying at new car in the 1970's, but shopping with them was like dealing with a neighbor. After we purchased the boat the mechanics at Arbor Vitae Marine set it up with the outboard we selected and the owners delivered it to our dock (they just happen to live on the same lake that we do) two days later. After a short tutorial we were on the water enjoying our first pontoon ride around the lake. Arbor Vitae Marine sells Avalon Pontoons (which I will review in another Yelp posting specific to the brand) but l have to say here that the fit and finish and the overall quality of the boat is worth a five star review. I would recommend that anyone in the market for a new pontoon stops in at Arbor Vitae Marine to take a good look the Avalon brand. We selected a 25HP Tohatsu outboard for our boat. For me this was a motor I was not familiar with but after reading a bunch of on-line reviews it seemed to be a quality machine at a good price and I had no hesitation in selecting it for our boat. (I'll review the outboard separately at a later time) We plan to continue working with Arbor Vitae Marine for "winterization," storage, and "summerization," and for any service needs that arise in the future. I will amend my review as necessary after such service is rendered -- but for now, my initial experience is five stars -- as good as it gets.

Zero stars! We should have believed the numerous reviews warning us about how Tom is a swindler…read more We rented a boat from them last year and had a positive experience (sans Tom) so we returned again hoping to support a local business. Upon returning the boat we received a call from Tom informing us two bumpers and an extension cord were missing. My husband informed him we never received the aforementioned items and even commented how odd it was they didn't provide us any this year as they did last year. He essentially told us since we signed off on the checklist his employee conducted that we were SOL. My husband and I were adamant we never received the items. Tom even went as far to insinuate someone must have stolen them off our pier when we weren't looking. He ended up charging us $100 for the two bumpers and the cord, which at most cost $50. Renters beware, it appears this is a common business practice of his. Do yourself a favor and believe the reviews! We will definitely be taking our business elsewhere next summer.

I would give 0 stars if I could…read more... We were so excited to come to St. Germain! A friend of ours had planned a trip the year earlier & came home raving about it, so when she shared she was planning a group trip, we jumped on it. Let me start by clarifying, the area is wonderful! I would recommend a St. Germain trip to anyone. Even the employees at St. Germain Sport Marine, I believe I spoke with a Carla and a Rocky (it's been a few months, forgive me). They were lovely. I knew something was off the first time I had to interact with Tom. See, since we were going on a group trip our reservation was made under the name of my wonderful friend organizing the trip. It was a weekend trip for 16 people. We would get in on Friday and leave on Sunday, so we all rented the snowmobiles for Saturday & Sunday. Unfortunately, my husband & I had a family emergency that occurred a week & a half before the trip. This required us to only be able to attend Saturday. Meaning I needed to adjust our rental from 2 days to 1. When I called, Carla was so kind. Explained we had a reservation for months, already paid our deposit, just unfortunately needed to adjust our rental. She said it would be no problem & assured me the adjustment was made. She was so sincere and sweet. The next day, I had a follow up question so I called and spoke to Rocky. She had the same manner. Reassuring & kind due to our unfortunate situation. This was so nice as we were very much looking forward to this trip & were trying our best to make it work. Two days later I was jolted when Tom called revoking the 1 day rental. This was shocking as we had already paid & were bringing 16 people's business. You would think they would give a little. So I asked Tom what was best to do as I did not want to pay $400 to rent for 2 days when we only needed 1 day. Tom said cancel & come in day of to see if a mobile was available. At this point we were 1 week out from the trip & again trying to make this happen, so I agreed. 6 days later, we started the trek to Wisconsin. I called Tom, knowing I was a day early, to see if he would let me reserve a mobile so we knew there'd be no issue Sat morning. He begrudgingly did, but made me pay another deposit, even though I had already paid the initial deposit from the 1st reservation. Tom would not transfer the deposit over. When I say he was everything but accommodating I mean it. Not to mention every time you talk to him all you are thinking is "this guy is so rude. He loathes interacting with you. Why would he be in this business?" I digress. Tom was not sensitive at all to the human nature of our situation, we had a family loss within weeks of our trip (a trip we had been planning for months) that required us to alter our trip. He made us cancel our reservation a week out, just to remake our reservation, for the same mobile, and make us pay a 2nd deposit. He did all that simply because he could. Now to get to the real issue. Saturday goes off with out a hitch. We leave at 7:00 AM Sunday morning, drop off the snowmobile & keys in a drop box (no one is there that early) & go on our merry way. Weeks go by and I notice on our credit card there is a $350 charge still floating for St. Germain. I think huh, that's weird. Call them. Of course I get Tom. He tells me the charge should have dropped off, he'll check & call me back. Calls me back 2 days later & tries to tell me that we damaged the snowmobile & they are not dropping the charge. When I say I had to pick my jaw up off the floor, I mean it. I was shaking. My husband and I in no way did any activity that could even slightly damage this vehicle. We were in a line of 8 snowmobiles all day. With only 1 couple with prior driving experience. We were extremely cautious. Not to mention the amount of people out drinking. I was a nervous wreck. Also, Tom said they would send pictures of the damage. I wanted to see it. Never got one email. One picture of the damage we allegedly did. Point being do not trust these people and take pictures Of your mobiles prior to use as I am convinced our damage existed prior to us taking the vehicle!!
