We had a dockside visit by Brad yesterday and he showed up early with his computer, his diagnostic equipment, and his excellent knowledge and was able to fix our engine issue in a few minutes! I would totally recommend Arbor Vitae Marine! read more

We had a list of serious issues with a new Pontoon we purchased in another state. Since we're in upper Wisconsin, we contacted Arbor Vitae Marine to see if they could help with these complex issues. They were enthusiastic to help, and were able to find and resolve ALL the issues in short order! Fantastic! Great people too. read more

AV Marine has taken great care of our all our families boat needs for decades. This year their great service saved a week at the lake for us. We noticed a small hole in one of our pontoons and Brad and the crew had a trailer at the boat ramp for us within an hour of calling and the hole was fixed up by the next day. Even though this was months after the boat had been put back in for the season Brad thought there was a chance the damage might have happened over winter storage and offered to cover the repair for us. Truly awesome customer service from a long time local business. read more

I'd been looking for a pontoon boat that suits our needs for about a month with no luck. One dealer said he rarely has what we were looking for in his inventory -- but he can get one for us in eight-ten weeks, or he can get us one that is way bigger than we need in two weeks. Another dealer says the smallest pontoon he sells is 24 feet long with a 110HP outboard at $50k -- quite a bit more boat that this retired couple needs. Then I saw that Arbor Vitae Marine listed several boats in our size range (16' to 18') and price range ($20K to $25K) on their web site inventory so my wife and I decided to stop in and take a look. An hour or so later we sealed the deal and our new pontoon was on the way to our lake. For us the buying experience at Arbor Vitae Marine was excellent. The owner showed us all the boats in their inventory that were in our price range and met our needs. She clearly explained the features and options and took plenty of time to make us feel like Arbor Vitae Marine really appreciated our interest in their boats and wanted our business. As a first time pontoon buyer I feared it might be worse than buying at new car in the 1970's, but shopping with them was like dealing with a neighbor. After we purchased the boat the mechanics at Arbor Vitae Marine set it up with the outboard we selected and the owners delivered it to our dock (they just happen to live on the same lake that we do) two days later. After a short tutorial we were on the water enjoying our first pontoon ride around the lake. Arbor Vitae Marine sells Avalon Pontoons (which I will review in another Yelp posting specific to the brand) but l have to say here that the fit and finish and the overall quality of the boat is worth a five star review. I would recommend that anyone in the market for a new pontoon stops in at Arbor Vitae Marine to take a good look the Avalon brand. We selected a 25HP Tohatsu outboard for our boat. For me this was a motor I was not familiar with but after reading a bunch of on-line reviews it seemed to be a quality machine at a good price and I had no hesitation in selecting it for our boat. (I'll review the outboard separately at a later time) We plan to continue working with Arbor Vitae Marine for "winterization," storage, and "summerization," and for any service needs that arise in the future. I will amend my review as necessary after such service is rendered -- but for now, my initial experience is five stars -- as good as it gets. read more

We had Arbor Vitae Marine winterize ans store our boat for the winter. Upon picking it up, my husband asked them if the antifreeze had been flushed out. To which the man responded "yes, I drain d it all out". Turns out, HE DRAINED IT DIRECTLY INTO THE HULL OF THE BOAT!! Now we have antifreeze sloshing around in the bottom of our boat, and it stinks! Response to owner: Yes Heidi, the hull was dry when we dropped it off in the fall, and contained quite a large amount of antifreeze when we picked it up. We checked all the hoses, and all were intact. We have lived up here for over 35 years year around...and we do know that's not normal. read more

I was selling my boat at the end of last season and needed a couple of minor things done to feel good about the sale. I was able to get the boat quickly serviced AND lake tested, the same day, to make the sale happen later that day! The new management really seems the have turned things around. Nice boats in the showroom and nice people to work with. read more

We just received delivery of our new pontoon from Arbor Vitae Marine. The whole process of determining which boat was best for our family (including the options and color), agreeing on a fair price, and the ultimate delivery was a pleasure thanks to the staff. There was never any pressure, and we were always given plenty of their time and expertise so that we were very comfortable with our ultimate purchase. We look forward to remaining a customer of Arbor Vitae Marine for years to come. read more

DO NOT BUY A BOAT FROM ARBOR VITAE MARINE!! Purchased a new Avalon Pontoon in July 2019. One month later noticed crack on dashboard. Sent email to Heidi and numerous phone messages, never returned. Finally found Heidi at marine in Sept. said she is bad about returning emails. Promised to fix crack while in storage. Pontoon dropped off at lake May19, 2020 crack not repaired. Contact made with Heidi said tech caused crack by over tightening screw and that crack could not be repaired.(not true acc. to Avalon) Asked for a new dashboard and waited to hear back. Completed customer survey sent by Avalon and related difficulty in getting crack repair. Received email from Heidi who said based on my survey information detailing crack repair issues that Arbor Vitae Marine would no longer be servicing my boat. Real classy,, and this was a minor cosmetic repair, cannot imagine how it would be on something major. read more

My outboard motor had a miss at 4500rpm. I took it to Arbor Vitae marine, the authorized dealer, to be repaired. I was pleased they took only four days to call, telling me my boat was ready, I was really impressed when they told me they had test driven it on the lake. They had replaced spark plugs, which I had already done, and a shorted coil. When I put it on the lake, I had a miss at1500rpm and at 4500 rpm.i was charged for two plugs, a test drive, and a history print out, ($200) for nothing. I ultimately diagnosed the problem myself, and after three trips and six hours of my time, they fixed the boat, but, they damaged the boat. They are refusing to repair the damage, and to refund the $200, for unneeded repairs. The worst part was dealing with an arrogant owner ( Bob),with an " I don't give a damn attitude. read more

For years, I have gone to Arbor Vitae Marine to winterize my boat - nice people and great mechanic. I brought my boat in for winterizing this year and I was pleased to read on their brochure that the price for their winterizing "package" service had not changed from last year - $259.95. What I did not notice at the time is that the new brochure was different from previous years brochures in that it no longer explained that their winterizing "package" service included the cost for all materials, parts and labor. When I went to pick up my boat, the cost was $385. I questioned why it was 50% more than advertised and was told that the cost for parts/materials was not included in the advertised price and that the $259.95 was for labor only. The new brochure did not state this. I don't mind paying a reasonable price for good, dependable service but I am not pleased that they changed their brochure and did not disclose the actual cost nor what you are getting for their winterizing "package" service advertised price. read more

We stopped in here on Monday because our boat engine would not start -the first day of our vacation! We were told they couldn't look at it until after the holiday (that was a week later and after our vacation). Understanding this must be a busy time for them we asked where else we could go for help. The man actually laughed and said "no one can help you". Well despite his arrogance we found J &R parts and not only was he able to help us but he had our boat running in 2 hours! Because of their awful customer service I do not recommend Arbor Vitae Marine. read more
