I needed a kitchen faucet put in that I had bought at Lowes. It cost me $478. Outrageous! Every time I turn on my sink I feel sick, that I was so gullible and paid that ridiculous price. When I complained about their pricing I was told they use the national average, and I could have had a free estimate done, if I'd asked. I didn't ask because I expected fair pricing. But to have the tech come was $109.00 unrefundable service fee. He was there, I needed water, so I said okay. I will never use them or recommend them again. I contacted Advantage Plumbing on July 12, 2025, due to a sewer backup at my home. Their technician, Allan, responded promptly and performed a rodding service, which cost $676. Afterward, I was emailed photos showing root intrusion and given a proposal for a trenchless liner repair -- quoted at over $21,000, reduced to $19,125 with a discount. I was told this was the least expensive option, as a traditional dig would supposedly require costly pavement removal and city permits. Thankfully, I decided to do my own research before signing anything. I spoke directly with Zachary Holt from the City of Niles Department of Public Works, who informed me that the city covers the cost of work in the right-of-way, including street excavation. He also provided a list of vetted local plumbers. I paid $250 for a second inspection and received a quote just over $3,000 -- for a full PVC pipe replacement including a new cleanout, not just a liner. I believe the quote I received from Advantage Plumbing was highly misleading and overpriced. I contacted the company requesting a partial refund of the original $676 charge, but they declined. I have now filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I'm sharing this to encourage others: always get a second opinion and contact your city's public works department before agreeing to major plumbing work. I'm relieved I did -- it saved me over $15,000. read more

I had an issue with a burst pipe to the back yard. They wanted to charge $235 to come out because I called at 5:05pm. I called instead at 8am the next morning. They were able to be there at 11am because they had a cancellation. If I joined their Diamond Club (for $179 /year) I would get a 15% discount they told me. So I did. The bill was almost $700 to dig up and shut off the back spigot. So the diamond club -almost-paid for itself. I think that was a lot of money for 2 hours of work. But I could turn my water back on to the house. So, worth it I guess. Tom and Dakota were excellent though. Wore booties inside the house. Even labeled my shut off valve so anyone could find it. Tom walked me through options, applied discounts not offered the first time this company came out, and was very thorough. I guess, since my Diamond club status gives me this discount and Emergency services discounted too, I will be calling them again. read more

We called to have a sink and shower drain cleared as well as the toilet. It took a week before someone came out. After 4 hours, the job was still not finished because parts were needed for the shower. We called the next day to schedule the Plumber to come out and finish the job. They told us it would be 3 WEEKS before he could come back and finish the job. This was totally unacceptable. My husband found another plumber who came out the very next day and fixed the shower in 10 minutes. The cost was 85% less than what Advantage Plumbing was going to charge. We had a few issues that needed dealt with in our house, as older house do eventually. None of them emergencies. However, it took 4 weeks to get someone out to look at our issues and another 4 weeks after that to get someone out to have them fixed. This was a little frustrating as I had to dump a cup of water out from under our sink every day due to a leaking faucet pipe. But, there are worse things in life and that is the only issue I have with this company. Andrea is probably the best phone answering employee i've ever come across. She is very personable and helpful. She called the day before the appointment to make sure we were still available for the appointment and she called again the morning of the appointment to let us know when the worker would be here. I love this! With most places you are left guessing on when the worker will show up in the 2-4 hour time slot. Tom is the one that installed our new faucet, cut and rerouted our cold water pipes for our kitchen into the softner (we have horrible calcium issues), and installed new shut off valves behind our washer and dryer. He did all this within 4 hours. The thing I loved the most was he explained everything he was going to do first, verified it was what we wanted, and told us the cost before doing anything. He even made sure we didn't need to do anything with the water before he had to turn it off, such as flushing toilets. ;D Our house is half basement and half crawlspace. Tom even went the extra step to crawl into our spider-infested crawl space to make SURE the pipes he was rerouting were the correct pipes. The guy that came out to do the estimate originally didn't even look under the crawl space or mark the pipes. Tom then proceeded to mark each pipe with hang tags for future reference. He did an excellent job of installing everything, he was very precise in the job while still being personable, he cleaned up and checked everything over, and after he explained the finished jobs without sounding condescending when we asked him questions. And, he asked if we had any other plumbing questions or concerned that weren't covered today. I would definitely ask for him again if we have future plumbing issues. I had heard all my life that going with bigger companies can be more expensive, but this company has shown its worth. And, we've learned over the years, you don't mess around with subpar plumbing and electricians just because they are cheaper. We highly recommend! read more

We called them and explained the problem and also gave them the size of our pipes 2". They came out poorly prepared. They didn't have the proper size router. They brought out one that fits a 3or4" pipe. The camera they brought didn't have charged batteries. They didn't have a charger; that wasn't on their truck as it was never replace by the company. They charged me $346, They gave me an estimate to come back. The estimate was $878 to cut a pipe and look then tell us how much more it would be. read more

I called them because I needed a toilet installed and I had a crack in the pipe that connects to the back of the toilet. The person they sent said they to charge me according to the levels of each thing he had to do while on the job. He then quoted me $673.00!!! That was outrageous but we ere desperate so I told him to go ahead with the job. Then he tells us that price does not include the replacement of the toilet that I bought. If he were to replace the toilet that would be ad additional almost $400.00!!! I called the company only to be told that I would have to ok the additional charge of $400.00 to have the toilet installed. The woman on the phone was smug, condescending, and clinical sounding. The saddest part about this besides being robbed was they will not try to work anything out with you as a customer. Recently had them come out to replace a garbage grinder. Knowing I just had one replaced in my primary home I was aware of the cost. When they came out and was halfway through the install I asked what the cost would be. $99 for the call to come out and $750!!! for the install. WHAT? Are you kidding me? He could not give me the breakdown on the cost of the grinder vs. Labor and said it was a "package price". I called Andrea (so awesome) and asked he what it was an she said the same thing. Package deal. So let's do the math, even the BEST garbage grinder at Home Depot cost $300, so that mean I'm paying $450 for labor???? Seems to be somewhat of a con job. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Prices are outrageous. I told the plumber i would pay him the $89 sevice charge and sent him home after he quoted me $700 to change a cartridge and turn on the water to a pool house. I bought the cartridge for $50 changed it and turned the water on. Took me 30 minutes. Previous plumber charged us $200. The Advantage guy told me "we were ripping the previous plumber off." My suggestion, dont look for a plumber online. Call your local plumbing supply shop for a recommendation. They will know good plumbers who charge a fair price. They told me that this company has that reputation of $$$$. read more
