MAC Services is a locally owned operation built on the belief that people deserve service that's friendly, straightforward, and rooted in the community. We were founded in 1985 by Mac Trench, a Northern Indiana mechanical contractor who built the business on hard work, honest service, and a genuine care for his customers. After relocating to Colorado for a period, Mac returned to the South Bend area in 2017 and got back to doing what he loved, but this time with a new purpose. He took Austin Manning under his wing, passing down over three decades of trade knowledge, work ethic, and the values that made MAC Services what it is today.
When Mac retired in 2021, Austin stepped up and took the reins, carrying forward the name, the reputation, and the family-first culture that Mac built from the ground up. Nearly 40 years later, MAC Services is still locally owned, still self-performing every job, and still treating every customer like family, just the way Mac intended.
Meet the Business Owner: Austin M.
I'm Austin Manning, owner of MAC Services. I went straight into trade school after high school in 2015 because I knew this was where I belonged. I earned my HVAC technical certificate and spent years learning under Mac Trench, the founder of this company, who taught me not just the technical side of the trade but what it really means to take care of people.
I took over MAC Services in 2021 and the thing I'm most proud of is this: we haven't raised our prices since I took over. In a world where everything keeps getting more expensive, I made a commitment to keep this trade accessible and affordable. Whenever I can offer a discount, I do, because what drives me isn't the bottom line, it's being able to show up for someone when their heat goes out in January and actually help them without making a hard situation harder.
