Last year I went in for an exam but it had been a few years since my previous cleaning and my teeth were in rough shape. The dentist wanted to remove 7 of my teeth! I was shocked and declined the removal. Instead I sought out other alternatives. I had each quadrant of my mouth "scaled" - a deep cleaning procedure that I've had done before. Then I got a water pic and started to up my daily maintenance. When I went back for my 6 month exam this year I received high praise on how good my teeth were and nobody said a thing about those 7 teeth still needing to be removed. Thanks to MYSELF I managed to save and retain all of my teeth! Then, just recently I started experiencing some pain in my gums. It felt like one of my wisdom teeth was trying to grow sideways out of my gums. After a week it hadn't really gotten better so I scheduled a short appointment just to have it checked out. The hygienist took an x-ray and then the dentist came in. He took a quick look and told me that it's not infected, just a small cut in my gums most likely from eating something sharp. He said it's healing fine and I don't need antibiotics. He then shocked me when he said "I recommend removing the wisdom tooth." Then the next thing I knew he was numbing my gums and preparing a shot. That's when I freaked out!!! I was on my lunch break and told him I needed to get back to work. The hygienist said "oh that's fine, you can go back to work." These people clearly do not get to know their patients. First of all, I immediately started to sweat and shake and panic and felt light-headed. I had so many questions, and even if I did decide to have my tooth removed I would need anxiety medication beforehand, someone to accompany me AND to drive me home afterwards, pre-purchased foods at home to eat while my gums healed, and definitely time off from work! I'm also a smoker, so knowing that I wouldn't be able to smoke after having a tooth removed I would need to mentally prepare and plan ahead for that. These people are so quick to jump to "we need to remove your teeth!" Beware! They didn't give me any time to think, just react, and my reaction was to leave. Perhaps if they had sat down calmly and gave me some information to help me understand WHY they thought the tooth should come out then I could at least understand my options, but I was aghast when they didn't even give me any post-surgery instructions beforehand, what to expect, etc. They didn't even give me any time to register what was about to happen. If you have dental anxiety like I do I DO NOT recommend this place. I DO however recommend taking their advice with a grain of salt, stand up for yourself and don't let them pressure you into unnecessary tooth extractions!

I've received $500 broken mouth guards twice and had to have them redone. Fine, things happen. The last few times I needed cleaning or fillings, I've had to wait months for an appointment. That's fine, I get your busy. But I had two upcoming visits scheduled for August and September that I made in January. The other day I got a text saying the hygienist I was to see was leaving and they didn't have anyone else to see me so they were canceling my appointment. No reschedule, just canceled. I've already been waiting 7 months. A few days later I get another text saying the dentist is leaving and they are also canceling my September visit. What the heck? Now I have no interest in going back and have to do the whole ridiculously time-consuming research for a new practice.

This was a…read morefollow up after trying another dentist in Brookings, OR, who spent five minutes talking to me and then told me he needed to send me off to a specialist for a root canal. Turns out I didn't need a root canal, I needed my bite adjusted, which they did on the first visit. Dr Butler was great, very patient, explained what he saw on the Xray, talked over different things like do I grind my teeth (I don't think so), and eventually checked my bite. Which is where we found the issue. They took photos of the tooth and pulled them up on a screen, and talked through all of it clearly and without being condescending or dismissive. All equipment modern, up to date, chairs comfortable. Its a bit too cold, but I tend to expect that with dentists. I hate dentists. This one is not like the others. Highly recommend.

I was sitting in the chair one day when she came in and started to explain that she would help me out but didn't I have anyone that could lend me money? she talked down to me like I was a piece of trash. I am on disability and dialysis. I called back and told her how rude and unprofessional her attitude was. I would not be back. I don't trust her to touch my mouth I would not recommend anyone without plenty of extra money to pay for services to go to this "lady". My last dentist, it took weeks just for them to then turn around and have to seek approval from the insurance a second time because designing the crown took so long. I cannot overstate how nice it was to just get it all done in one vist. Both doctor Lee and Haelee were friendly, included me in their conversation even when I could only respond with a thumbs up and they even went the extra mile of getting rid of calsification even though it wasn't originally in the plan. If you are looking for a Dentist, I highly recommend McKenzie Dental Center. Their hours are flexible, when I say I need an appointment while my kids are in school, they make sure to find something that works for me and I never have to wait long for anything.

I'm going to update my review based off my level of care and service as a result and assume that moving forward the insurance issues will be taken care of. From my interactions with the front desk I did not know that there was anyone else to talk to about issues like this, so definitely give their billing team a call if you have any issues like I had, she sounded very willing to work with figuring things out.
