When we arrived, we were greeted by their welcoming staff and promptly gained access to our rental where we had crisp bedding, a super clean home and a nice welcome bag with everything we need to plan out our days. The property was beautiful and had all the space we needed. The views we had we're so nice too! We've rented from a few other companies in the past in other destinations, but we'll definitely keep using Emerald Isle Realty when we come back to Emerald Isle, NC. The value, hospitality and experience was great, and we're so thankful our trip was as good as it was. Thank you, Emerald Isle Realty!

    We have been renting from Bluewater for five years now and never had issues like the trip we just…read morereturned from. We knew as soon as we opened the door that this house had issues. It looks dirty, the beds are old, blinds were broken, the kitchen floor was like a fun-house floor, the ceiling fan in the living room couldn't be shut off, the dining room light was ridiculously dim, the vent in the kitchen ceiling blew cold air directly from the outside the entire time, the neighbors could see directly into the bathroom because those blinds were broken too, and there were roaches. Lots of large roaches. On top of that, one of the bathrooms was so tiny that you could barely sit on the toilet and the shower was a joke. We're not particularly large people, but we couldn't use that bathroom. We arrived Saturday at 4:00, and I emailed Bluewater that night at 7:00 because I was so disappointed in the house. I listed half of those issues because that's all we'd noticed at that point. It got worse as the week went on. We've rented multiple other houses on Ocean Drive and this one was the worst. I received a quick response and someone showed up on Sunday (let themselves in even though we were sitting right there which I thought was incredibly rude) and changed a lightbulb, took pictures, and then I never heard anything again for the rest of our stay. I'm sorry, but at 3K for a week, someone could have come and hung $10 blinds in the bathroom. The entire house looked dirty and dated and was poorly stocked. Stay away from this place. I'll be sharing this review everywhere so no one else has to have this kind of experience.

Great price and fabulous location-should have known it was too good to be true. Huge hole in decking-like big enough for a person to fall through. Leaking appliances and roof. House is absolutely disgusting. A neighbor stopped by when we were leaving. He said the home is completely neglected yet still rents. Don't waste your money! We've stayed at two additional homes since then. Both meh. The latest, 6/2021, had half smoked cigarette butts on the dresser and under the bed...is that actually considered Covid 19 level clean??? How do you miss cleaning those as well as addressing the smoke smell in a non smoking home. Also this rental was in June when you would expect the homes to be in pretty good shape-not lots of wear and tear. This home had dirty blankets, broken appliances(which were fixed while we were there), hair in the shower...too much to dismiss as a random miss. Bluewater's attention to detail in their rentals has declined exponentially over the years. We love renting in EI but Bluewater will not be our go to rental company moving forward.

    The rental company is completely indifferent to any issues that arise and can affect your vacation…read more We specifically rented a house with a heated pool for the kids to enjoy this year since Sept is historically cooler. Only to get there and the heating pump be BROKEN and never fixed while we were there. We were told "well it worked yesterday when we tested it!" The part never arrived, we were there for a total of 7 days. We had to call each time to check on progress, they didn't even have the decency of communication. We paid a premium for this house BECAUSE it has the option of a heated pool (many do not in this neighborhood, we know because we went to each house that does last year specifically to pick this house for this year), they could not have cared less. No attempts to make it right, no attempts to remedy, just shrugged shoulders that "these things happen." For $8,000 for 1 week, these things should NOT happen or at minimum a pro-rated rate should have been honored. Also, belongings went missing from our driveway moments after their team pulled the trash bin up to the street. At first we gave benefit of the doubt maybe they thought it was trash? Nope, we were told we were the first people to "ever" accuse their team of theft.... so if it wasn't them it could have been the numerous other people using our driveway as a public access to the beach. If you want a fully private house, driveway included, DO NOT RENT WISHING WHALE. All the houses from the cul-de-sac used OUR driveway to access the beach the ENTIRE week. Not one day went by that a stranger wasn't strolling down our driveway to cut through to the next door house's beach access. Either way, feels like a rental/community issue as we leave things outside every single year, and never ever had anything stolen from us. This is the first year we've had strangers meandering in our driveway. Seems suspicious. We thought this was a safe community. At other homes we used to leave the doors unlocked during the day for ease of the family, NOT AT THIS HOUSE, NOT WITH A BABY SLEEPING INSIDE AND STRANGERS ACCESSING OUR DRIVEWAY ALL DAY. We will be returning to EI Realty where they actually care about their renters and ensure our vacation and money is very well spent. It's a shame, we had a great 6 summer run with Spinnakers and would have had 30 more. But the bad taste in our mouth has us wanting nothing to do with this entire community. Such a shame because the homes and neighborhood are absolutely beautiful, tucked away in our favorite part of the island. But you are only as good as the company who represents you. Shame on you Mathias and shame on you SR.

    BEWARE!!!! We stayed at Isle Getaway for the last 5 years…read more No issues. BUT. This year we arrive and find that the owner had put limits on the AC..and NO ONE had notified us, communicated with us.. NOTHING.! I thought I rented the Entire beach house ! Not just parts of it! ! We were stunned! This is a 4 story Beach house ,with 3 BR on the the 3 Rd floor! After a very hot, distressing night with very little sleep for all ,after the owner had " fixed" the controls . I had to go BACK to office the next morning ,to BEG Spinnaker's Reach and owner to help again. It was awful ! How did this happen that NO ONE spoke to me about this!????? BEFORE WE GOT TO THE HOUSE! We always been good guests. We do not leave the doors open. And I have gotten my deposit back each year! Like I said we have rented the same house for the Last years without AC controls!!!? The SR people did reach out to the owner again. And offered a portable AC unit for the bedroom that was the warmest. It has always been warmer than the rest of BR on the 3 floor! But what good would that have been for the rest of my guests? He did take off the all the controls the next morning ,! BUT I have been informed that next year!!! Temps only going down to 70?!? AT NIGHT!! . Be very AWARE. that this is happening

    We rented a house on AirBNB that was managed by Sun Surf Realty. We will never again rent a house…read morewith any associateion with Sun Surf. The house was very nice, the owners have done a great job of remodeling it. It was very clean, and we really enjoyed sitting on the dock out in the channel. We went 2 days without internet/TV. We tried truobleshooting with Sun Surf staff over text but ended up having to get Spectrum to come out to fix it. We had also rented a golf cart to drive back and forth to the beach. We found a baggie of marijuana in the golfcart. If my (old enough to drive) kids had been pulled over for some reason while driving the golf cart and the marijuana had been found, they could have been charged. What if small kids had gotten into it? What if my dogs had gotten it? We used the golf cart to drive back and forth to the beach 1 day. On the 2nd day that we tried to use the golf cart, it died in the middle of the road with my son and we had to push it back to the house. The battery was charged. We tried again on the next day and the golf cart would not go more than a foot or two before cutting off. I communicated this with Sun Surf and told them not to bother sending anyone out because wer were leaving the next day and honestly we were fed up. We tried multiple times to call and email Sun Surf Realty and did not get any response. We will NOT be renting through this compnay again.

    My family and I just returned from Emerald Isle (EI), NC, our most favorite vacation destination…read morethat our young sons and family have come to call "our home away from home". Each year we rent an oceanfront home, where we have created beautiful memories with family and friends, both local to the area, local to NC, and friends that escape the hustle of their home cities, like us from Washington, DC. Our 2023 EI Vacation took place at the oceanfront home "Just for the Halibut East", a duplex centrally located in the heart of EI; our 2nd year in this home. We arrived on July 15, 2023, at approximately 4pm. The home was just as we remembered from another year we have rented it, clean and the views so beautiful. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed that the home was warmer than usual, set at 75. We took it down to 73, immediately, while we unpacked. After we unpacked, we noticed that the duplex felt warmer than from when we arrived, but we were patient and thought that the warm weather and the sun had an impact of how strong the system was working. We then noticed that the temperature increased to 77, we became concerned and decided to call Sun Surf Realty at 7:35pm (our first night). We got an afterhours recording and then called the emergency line and spoke to a representative about the temperature change. They stated that they would leave a message for Sun Surf to respond the next day. Needless to say the evening was uncomfortable. Sun Surf called to inquire the next day, the 16th. We shared and they stated they would send a tech out to take a look at it. The tech came by in the afternoon on the 16th and added freon to the system and stated that it was low. The temperature got better for an hour and dropped down to 74. By the evening, the temperature was back up to 80, but the office was closed and we called the emergency line, again, to share that there was another change in temperature. They took our message and Sun Surf called the next day, on the 17th at 8:53am. On the 17th, there were five calls made by us to Sun Surf, where they finally said "if we wanted to please come and pick up fans". We picked up two fans and used them while we waited. To make a very long and exhausting story shorter, the temperature got to 88 degrees on 18-19th. We were miserably hot with a dog and a one year old toddler. We desperately asked for another place to stay and inquired about the technician. We requested window units, where at one point Cathy shared "what do you want me to do, I am 60 years old, I can't carry them and bring them to you!!". We finally got two window units on the 3rd day of our vacation, which did not help - temps were in the high 80s. On the morning of day 4 of our vacation, after at least 20+ calls to Sun Surf, we were told that the owner finally approved the replacement of a new AC unit and that to expect a tech there that day. We heard nothing. We called, again, and they said they are at the mercy of the AC company and would let us know. Nothing. We called, again, and Cathy and or Linda stated to expect the AC by 3:30. Nothing. My family couldn't take the heat. We began to pack up. We were done and hot. We were tired of making calls and waiting around. We were so frustrated and stressed because the dog and kids were HOT and cranky. Most of the family left. The family I only see maybe 2x a year because life is so busy. Our vacation really hadn't started and now it was over. We were so sad, angry, frustrated, and disappointed that not one person seemed to care or check in on us. NOT ONE!! After my family left the AC guys showed at approximately 4:45pm. We were all set with cool air by 7pm. Sun Surf didn't offer any assistance, no real resolutions, and had ZERO empathy and was very cold toward us stating "we are just as stressed as you and have other properties with issues, too, that we have to handle". Sun Surf made it very clear that that it was not their problem and that the owner was unresponsive. They never apologized to us. Not one person apologized for the temperatures, except for the AC Techs who walked thru the duplex and asked how we could live in that heat. No one, even in our desperation, complied with this rental agreement, not Sun Surf Realty or the owner of the "Just for the Halibut East" vacation rental. This is the main issue we have, besides the fact that they made us feel unwanted, like a burden on them, with no empathy or an apology. No one stopped in, once, to check-in on us from Sun Surf Reality. No phone call from the owner. Absolutely unconscionable, unacceptable, and very much unappreciated.

(Not Family matter). The pictures are the same as the day we signed the lease to less than 6 months moving to another location. While we followed the lease agreement and paid our dues. Do you handle all your rental agreements this way? Seems that you do if anyone was to read your reviews. The facts are the facts. Let's not make it personal Beth. Furthermore. Seeing that you keep referencing the "deposit money". The money we clearly told you at the end of our term when you said where would we like our deposit back? My husband and I clearly responded back keep the deposit. Per reading your reviews we knew we would not receive that money back regardless. We respectfully made that clear. Twice. I'm referencing to the text seen displayed in the image here you sent me last Friday. Which we did try to call you immediately after to discuss where is this said extra money of fees due? My husband talked to your receptionist because you wouldn't talk to him... My husband was inquiring about the extra $1,400.00 you were telling us you were taking us to collections for if we didn't pay. Your receptionist responded that was to cover damages previously done before we signed the lease with you. Which IS NOT YOUR CONCERN. Another reference you keep referring to. I lived in this home for almost 5yrs. before I signed on with you. The only itemized bill we received was from a professional cleaner for over $500. There was not communication attached with an invoice. Moving forward our Lawyer has advised us. If you do so decide in pursuing using our social security number to file a claim against us for being delinquent on this text. This is me responding.
