It's been more than 3 months including many phone calls and 4 visits. they said 3 months ago that they were having phone system problems. I was told the same thing from a warehouseman last week when I visited. Of the 4 visits people were only in the office one time. In conjunction with Texas' mid-February 2021 big-freeze & 3.5 days without power based on ERCOT's statewide directed rolling power outages, we decided to add a whole-house, stationary backup generator. We contacted several local (San Antonio-metro area) electrical contractors to investigate pricing and timing of backup power; primarily to keep the heat and lights on. We selected Advanced Solar & Electric (ASE) for the job. The wait was long -- 8.5 months from order until delivery -- delays based on Covid-19 and Supply-Chain issues; not the contractor. IMPORTANT NOTE: When tied into the electrical-grid, Solar systems do not work without inbound power from the grid. The ASE Team did their best to keep me informed of equipment status. They submitted plans to the City and CPS Energy, obtained necessary permits, and once the equipment arrived, they were very flexible in scheduling the installation with me. My biggest frustration with ASE was the fact they don't have on-staff plumbers or sub-contract with local plumbers to add a fuel-source for your generator-set and assist homeowners in controlling costs or being taken advantage of by unscrupulous profiteers. I needed a tap directly off the natural gas-meter approximately 20 - 25 feet in length. When selecting a plumber; quality of work and pricing were of paramount concern. Price bids were all over the map -- ranging from a high of $5900.00 down to the $1200.00 range. We selected the $1200.00 bid as the plumber had done previous work for us. In the end, the process was time-consuming but we're very happy with the generator-set installation. The overall appearance and integration with our pre-existing solar system (SunPower - a different vendor) and the additional gas-line tap are aesthetically pleasing. The generator kicked into action yesterday -- 2/3/2022 when local power went out due to our latest Winter storm. It ran for 6.5 hours until CPS restored local power and the auto-switchback feature is great. Since I am semi retired I now have the time and effort to either praise or complain about people, places but in this case a company. Advanced installed my panels years ago when the craze was just starting. They did a good job and my panels provided years of great service. At the start of this year we noticed our electricity bill was going higher. I checked our outside meters and low and behold our panels were not producing any electricity. We contacted Advanced and they said a technician would be out to check the system. Before I go further I see someone else did not like they way their follow up check was done to them, so this seems to be along these same lines. Needless to say we were not impressed with the way business was handled in our situation. The following is what I corresponded with one of their representee. "Ms _________ thank you for response about this invoice. I have no complaint on the price and whether we are responsible for it. Our concern and questions deal with the way your company did business on the coming out and letting us know what was going on. You are correct when you state that that we requested someone to come and look at our system because it was not working at all. When I talked to a rep, over the phone, I believe 4th of January I was informed that the soonest a person could come over was on the 16 of January. Seemed king of long off, but what could we do, okay I knew I would be off and would be here to meet with your repairman. Along comes that Monday half way though the day wondered what time the technician would be here. I called your office and after a few minutes of wait and "let me find out" I was told that the tech had come by the previous Friday, 13, and confirmed we had a bad inverter and had been ordered. My question to you is why was I not notified that this had taken place and why did the tech not ring or knock on the door to let us know about him doing a "service call'? And who let him/her into the back yard to check the equipment, myself and wife were here all day. I also asked these questions over the phone and was told that the tech probably did it from the vehicle he came in. Again why did it take me to call on the Monday to find all this out? Okay finally get down the complaint I do have on the way you all operate your business. Normally whenever I have needed services, like this, TERMS are discussed before they are done. I dont know if this is an error or omission on your company's part but I believe it was done wrong. I would have had no problem with the rep telling me there would be a service charge or even the tech, coming the right day, informing me the same. I would have paid for the service call right then. But doing business like "oh yeah we came out and now owe us money" is wrong. I dont think a company doing business like this right. This is the main reason why I first sent you an email regarding your invoice. Again Payment is forthcoming," Too long of a story short, we did pay our invoice for the service call, but once again no follow up on why this happened. Our only regret was years ago when we first met with the salesman, did a great job selling and dumb as we were we should have shopped around before committing to one company. read more

The salesman told us the cost of the panels would offset the electric bill minus the connection fee here in San Antonio. Facts are, that wasn't the case. The company didn't take into account the trees in my yard so they put on some free panels which was nice, but I'm still seeing $100+ a month. Tried to work it out with them but they didn't even try to do the right thing by what the salesman said. The best part is the owner replied to the Google review with lies about we must have heard something from another company....they were the only company we worked with. I'm a Veteran and my wife was medically retired after 15 years in the Army. I'm sure there are reputable companies out there, but this is NOT one of them. Just wanted to give advanced solar and electric some kudos on great customer service. they installed our solar panels back in 2013 and were great to work with back then. In 2018, we had to have the roof replaced which required the solar panels to be removed and later reinstalled once the roof tiles were replaced. Again, they were easy to work with and stayed on schedule, so there was little down time. In June 2023, we noticed we weren't getting credit for our solar panel use, so we called advanced solar to check out our system. they got us on their schedule and sent someone out right way. Lee showed up on time as scheduled and performed a function check of the Inverter. It needed to replaced and they said it was still under warranty but getting a new replacement part would be about 29 weeks. Lee suggested an interim solution to get us up and running again by providing a "loaner" Inverter until out replacement came in. He called Tori at the office and asked her to send us a cost estimate which she did first thing the next morning. I called Tori and said we were good on the cost, paid the invoice over the phone and she emailed me a receipt within minutes. Tori then forwarded me to Daniel for scheduling. Dainel got us on the schedule for the following Friday. Everyone was so pleasant to work with and responsive to our requirements. They gave us outstanding customer service. Advance Solar warranty is a scam. I had their solar system installed almost 9 years ago (paying cash) and was told by them how great their warranty is. Recently had a insurance adjustor inspect my roof and noticed 3 or 4 of the panels had shorts in them. After contacting them I was told there would be a 125.00 inspection fee, so if something breaks on your system their gonna charge you 125.00 to come and look at it. They're not to be trusted. Use caution if you're thinking about using them, ask questions AND GET IT IN WRITING.​ read more

We took proposals from 4 companies. Advanced Solar was not the cheapest, but by far they were the most professional and straight up with us. They didn't try to oversell what our family needed and took into account the needs of our family in the future. He came to the house and after looking over our property and recent electric bill came up with a perfect plan specifically for our property. Stay away from them. They promised me that my solar panels would save me more money than they cost. That was a lie. They save me around $50 a month while costing around $90 a month. They have been giving me the runaround for several months regarding this and they have no intention of ever fixing it. DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY unless you like dealing with a company without integrity!! They put solar on our home 3 years ago while trying to get into the market in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. We were given a certificate stating that if we needed to re-roof our house within the first 5 years after solar installation, it would only cost us $500 for them to come out, take the panels off, and reinstall them after the new roof was finished. In trying to redeem this certificate at the 3-year mark, we were told since they are not in New Mexico, having pulled out of New Mexico for whatever reason, that they were not going to honor that certificate. I have called and emailed, all to no avail. The certificate has no wording or caveat of where they do or do not do business or any other reason that would make the certificate invalid, yet they still refuse to honor it. Now we have to figure out how to come up with another significant amount of money to have a local solar company come and do Advanced Solar's job. read more

I'll give 5 stars because I feel everyone involved in the process did an excellent job. My solar panels weren't placed in the exact location on the roof as planned and those panels are under performing compared to the rest of the panels. I'm not sure the performance would have been any better if they were placed in the original planned location so, I'm relying on the expertise of the technicians that the new location is the better choice for optimal performance. I received a package explaining the system which was somewhat helpful, it would have been nice to have someone explain the system features and the process flow. I'm still very happy with my decision to have solar installed and look forward to a much reduced or zero bill from CPS. read more

Working with Advanced Solar was a great experience. They handled everything, and I do mean everything. We had lots of problems with our HOA and they handled it so well, our HOA finally realized that they could not fight us and the panels went up. They also completely handled our CPS rebate and all the dealings with CPS. The process did take a while, but each step has to be approved and handled by so many people that it had nothing to do with the operations of Advanced Solar. We got to know each person we worked with well and they all were very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone who is considering a green alternative to their homes energy consumption.
