Will not recommend this medical practice to anyone given that they take health issues as a joke…read more Avoid this practice to save you from misdiagnoses. Had a really bad experience with this clinic. My first visit was virtual and the medication prescribed did not work. Was asked to provide pictures prior to the visit which were not even reviewed by anyone based on the questions that were asked. So I scheduled an in person visit with the nurse practitioner as a follow up. There was no attempt for a thorough diagnosis. Generic triggers like weather and stress were given as findings. I sought a second opinion and the doctor performed required tests and laid out treatment options. That is what we expect from any medical practitioner. The two visits were a total waste of time and money with incorrect diagnosis.

Whatever we discuss, she explains thoroughly and will even draw pictures or write down information so that I have a better understanding. I also appreciate that they have prices for me on whatever I'm planning on doing so that way I'm not surprised. Plus, she's from Louisiana so you know she's cool. The staff is nice. The nurses get back with you soon if you have any questions and are helpful and kind. The office is clean. They do sell products there, like SkinCeuticals and EltaMD. A display in the waiting room even has testers. My only warning would be that it could be tough to get in for an appointment, especially with Dr. Black. I think this is a sign of how popular and in demand she is. The staff tries to accommodate as best as possible and will even call if there are cancellations (if requested). I'm very pleased with my experiences here and look forward to being a lifelong patient.

I chose Dr. Ellen Turner in part because she markets her practice as offering functional medicine…read moreand hormone evaluation, and this was explicitly reiterated to me at the time of scheduling a new-patient appointment. Upon arrival, I was told, by the nurse who began my appointment, that these services are no longer offered. This information and the whole nurse interaction was delivered in a rude, dismissive tone towards me. When I questioned the discrepancy between what was advertised and what was actually provided, the staff response made it clear this practice is struggling with medical burnout and workload issues. This discrepancy constitutes misleading advertising and induced me to schedule a visit under false assumptions. I informed the nurse and front desk that I was not going to waste my time or a copay under those circumstances, thanked them, and walked out. More broadly, what is concerning is a clear pattern in how patient distress and criticism are handled. In public responses to negative reviews, the practice repeatedly invokes HIPAA, policy, credentials, and the "inappropriateness" of public feedback--not to acknowledge harm, but to deflect it and subtly shift blame onto patients. While HIPAA limits specifics for the practice of medicine, it does not prevent basic empathy or accountability from providers. The choice not to offer either reinforces an unequal power dynamic where patients are framed as confused or inappropriate for speaking up. A practice that markets itself as compassionate, functional, and whole-person oriented should not respond to patient concerns by hiding behind policy or authority. I strongly encourage prospective patients--especially those seeking functional or holistic care--to read the lowest reviews carefully and pay attention not just to what patients say, but how those concerns are responded to by Dr. Ellen Turner.

This is my 2nd dermatology office I tried & all I can say i am still looking for dermatologist…read more Waiting room is tiny & charis are all crowded in the room. I will say it was the smallest waiting I ever been into. when i saw Dr. Turner... all I can say... "I am not so sure...." feeling. Would you hire an overweight personal trainer?? Would you hire crappy dressed person to be your wardrope makeover person? Would you go see a plastic surgery doctor who looks like had an awful face job?? You definately won't see a dentist who has all messed teeth, right? You know where I am going... But I was already there so I showed her my Keloid scar & asked for a steriod shot to calm my scar down. She gave me a shot and also suggested a scar cream. I asked her "my other dermatology doctor told me there is no cream that can get rid of my scar." Her respond was "I disagree!". So she gve me a perscribtion & said this compound pharmacy won't charge me if I don't want it or if my insurance won't cover it. Well, all I can say that compound pharmacy charged my yearly spending account $50 then sent me the cream I didn't even authorize it. I returned the cream & they say they will reimburse it but never got the money back. When I called them, they said they refunded but my perscribtion company couldn't find the record. So, I don't know who to ask $50 back. Why is it soooo hard to find a good dermatologist & dentist in Irving????

After approximately one year as a patient at this facility, I am deeply disappointed by the level…read moreof care and professionalism I have experienced. My concerns began during my very first visit, when I was incorrectly charged $85 despite having already met my deductible. Resolving this billing error took months of follow-up on my part before a refund was issued. I extended grace and continued returning as a patient. Most recently, I came in for a routine refill for a chronic skin condition with only $10 remaining on my deductible. I was not informed upfront that I would be charged $95 for what amounted to a visit lasting under 10 minutes with two questions asked. When I expressed at the front desk that I was unable to pay the full amount at that time, I was told my prescription would be withheld -- despite the fact that the practice would still be billing and receiving payment from my insurance. What troubled me most was not the financial issue itself, but the manner in which it was handled. The staff member, Stephany, was dismissive and condescending, both in person and during a follow-up call I made the same day. There was no attempt to offer a solution or treat me with the courtesy I had consistently extended to this office. I understand that healthcare is a business, but patient care and basic professional courtesy should not be sacrificed for it. I will not be returning and would caution others to carefully review billing practices before establishing care here.
