They recovered all my GoPro footage on a corrupted micro SD. Very helpful and transparent throughout the process. Highly recommend!

I can't thank Advanced Data Solutions enough. I came to them after almost losing 100TB of footage, which included tons of my client projects and personal work. Losing it all would've been absolutely devastating. Joe, Tim, and the entire team worked quickly and efficiently to recover everything for me. On top of that, they took the time to walk me through how to improve my setup so this never happens again, even recommending the right equipment for my needs. They completely saved me, and I couldn't be more grateful. Highly recommend Advanced Data Solutions to anyone dealing with a data loss nightmare. read more

They are professional and recovered my lost data. I highly recommend them. You can't go wrong with them.

Risk Advisor Group recently experience External Seagate Hard Drive receptacle failure. Best Buy Geek Squad advise to contact Data Recovery Specialist. I located Advanced Data Solutions. Fortunately, they were open 24 hrs/7 days. I made contact, dropped off Hard Drive. 48 hours later technicians able to recover and transfer to new hard drive. More than 400 GB of data with full data integrity. Unfortunately, recovery was not cheap, but I am satisfied with full data recovery. Of related note, the cost is expected for the most part to be covered by a Business Owners Insurance Policy thankfully. ADS did work for me. Scott, President, Risk Advisor Group, Inc. read more

ADS did excellent work and fully recovered my personal data. If they cannot deliver on their promise, they do not charge you. I recently came here and saved a great deal of essential data, like so many others. Because more positive reviews about my experience would be redundant, I'll instead aim to disprove the one-star reviews who call this place a "scam." This place is not a scam for several reasons: 1. Appraisals and estimates are free. You are in no way obligated to accept their offer, and indeed, ADS is willing to have a bit of flexibility. 2. You know EXACTLY what you're getting. They ask for your permission to open your drive, and they also ask if there are any files that they should prioritize recovering. In my case, they were able to save everything, even the files I didn't have prioritized. 3. They explain to you exactly what is wrong with your drive before they ask if you'd like to proceed. 4. You do not pay for the data recovery until you've sat down on their computer and looked at the data yourself. I'm a musician, so I even had Joe hook up speakers to the computer to make sure all my song files were still listen-able. And they were. 5. These services can be pricey. But again, YOU decide after the appraisal if you'd like to proceed with their price, or if you'd like to take it elsewhere. There is no obligation or strong-arming. And the price for me did not change between the appraisal and the final cost. In conclusion, the one-star reviews make it sound like these guys snatch up your drives, destroy them, and then charge you insane prices. But you know exactly what they're doing, and no are in no way obligated to commit until after you've seen your recovered data for yourself. I 100% recommend ADS. read more

I was directed to ADS by the Best Buy Geek Squad when my flash drive fell apart and, boy, did they deliver! I received all my data back and they put it on the new flash drive I provided to them. Joe (the manager) explained everything to me at the time of drop-off to showing me how to access the data on the new flash drive. He was also very friendly and we had a great conversation afterwards. Although I hope I don't need them again, I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them once more! read more

If you are bringing a Mac here DO NOT DO IT! I held off writing this review because in the end they did not charge me for the terrible service they did to my 2016 iMac. But new developments have made it so I felt the need to let others know how terrible an idea it would be to go here. I only went here after my hard dr had a massive failure out of the blue on a recommendation and because the Apple stores were closed for repairs due to Covid. I first went in 2/1 and was told on the phone they could see my computer within a week and that the repair would not take very long. I do not want to bore with all the details, suffice it to say it took until 3/23 for me to get it back. This was after they never called me to update when they said they would, short of the first time they called to say the needed to take the screen off to remove and replace the old hard dr. I always had to call them and there was always some new excuse as to why it would be another week. One time it was because they cracked the screen, another because they ordered a new screen and it arrived broken, another because they didn't have the tape in stock to put it back together, another because the hard dr THEY recommended to me didn't work with the computer. This is my main work computer so I ended up after a few weeks of this having to buy a new one. Finally when I was able to pick up they didn't even put the screen back on correctly. There was a visible gap between screen and computer base. I pointed it out and they said "oh you can leave and we'll fix it" this made me wonder why it wasn't done right in the first place; and no I did not want to leave with them any longer. And not only that there was a huge scratch across the front that was not there before. You can see both these in the attached photo. Since I purchased a new computer I sold this now old one to my sister for her work. She, for the last few months, did not use it until this week. She set it up and informed me the freaking startup button fell into the computer. I have had Macs for 10 years and NEVER had a button perform like that so putting 2 and 2 together this company did not even put it back together right (fairly unsuprisng considering the screen wasn't on correctly). To which after taking to Apple they confirmed "the computer was not put back together correctly." This was the final straw with this place and my not sharing this on Yelp. How does a professional computer repair place NOT put a computer back toegher correctly? They acted like they had worked with Macs but I feel pretty certain they had never seen one in their lives based on how bad they did with mine. Also now because of their inability to perform the job correctly we need to pay Apple $500 to take apart the machine and reassemble correctly. If you care about your Mac DO NOT GO HERE! Truly a terrible experience. read more

I had a portable drive that crashed with thousands of my kids and family photos, I thought all our memories were lost. For a while I was looking for a company to help restore the data but everyone was out of town or out of state, then I found Advance Data Solutions here locally in National City. From the day I walked in they were extremely nice and helpful. They explained step-by-step what their process was. I left the drive with them, as well as a new drive to copy all the data onto it. They told me it would take a few days within a few days, I received a phone call to come in and review my data to make sure everything was OK. I came in and again step-by-step they explained the whole process I reviewed my data which was copied onto my new Drive and I was on my way. Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your service. I will definitely use you again if I need to. read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with Advanced Data Solutions. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. I was in a panic after losing years of important data (particularly photos and videos). The customer service, Joe and the rest of the team provided was top-notch. Dropped off my Hard Drive to see if they could salvage the data. After about a week, I didn't hear anything, so I called in for an update during operating hours. Gentleman said that the customer service line was busy and that they would call me right back. Cool. I didn't hear anything for 2-3 more days so I called back again. Gentleman asked me for a work order number, and I didn't have one to give since I never received one, and gave him my name and information instead. He said "yep, we have your SSD and laptop here." I told him I dropped off a regular HDD and not an SSD, and certainly not a laptop. He puts me on hold for a bit, comes back, assures me he has found my hard drive, and gives me a work order number. Says they are still in progress. I wait until what has now been 30 days without a call/update and call back (on a Sunday, which I suppose it not operating hours) and they answer. Tell me that I need to text the line with my work order number and name, and they will get back to me during operating hours. After texting, I don't hear anything for multiple days (again) so I just decide to pick it up, as I can't deal with this any longer. Just way too many lapses in service to ignore. read more

I very highly recommend Advanced Data Solutions. They took my damaged hard drive and recovered the data from it and stored it on an external hard drive. Joe was very kind and friendly, professional, understood what I wanted and took notes of the data I hoped to recover. I had videos on that hard drive of my son's father who passed away in 2017 as well as many photographs of him and my son. All of that was recovered, as well as dozens of folders of photographs, documents, etc. Please don't go here and think it's going to be cheap for the specialized work they do. These people are highly skilled professionals who work carefully to recover your data. We are lucky to have them here in our city. Thank you, Joe! read more

Don't do business with these people. I regret asking them to restore data on a flash drive. Upon receiving it they called telling me to recover data would cost over $900.00! After having it for more than three weeks they completely dismantled it without my permission and returned it to me in pieces. It is now worthless and is impossible to repair and recover any information. Joe, the apparent owner presented himself to me as a Christian, but his behavior was far from it. Samsung asked me for a statement from the company I used to recover the data. I called Joe and requested a statement but never heard back from him. Another deceitful act. They are not to be trusted. I don't like doing this but sometimes the truth has to be told. read more

These guys are great and really know their stuff. Woke up one day to a totally borked 3TB WD black drive; got a good 10 years out of it but didn't have the presence of mind to back it up. Fiddled with it a bit but quickly realized I was out of my depth. Took it to a smaller shop and they had no idea what was wrong. Advanced Data Solutions found out within a week that the drive had multiple fatal issues including mechanical and 1000s of bad sectors ouch. Got a reasonable quote and they had it fixed within a few days. Data looks great, staff was courteous and professional. While I intend to back up my data a bit better, I know these guys are and have always been around to fix these challenging jobs. 5/5 read more

I have an external hard drive that was accidentally formatted by software. So it functions perfectly fine. I took it to these guys. Right before I was about to leave the guy gave me a page to sign. It was a full page of text, but I don't sign things without reading them. (I learned the hard way) The first clause of this "contract" basically said that they were not responsible if they damaged the hard drive. Now, I could see if my hard drive was broken, and something was frozen inside, and in trying to get it unfrozen they broke it. That's one thing, but my hard drive works I just needed them to retrieve the data from it. Clause 8 also states that they are not responsible for damaging the hard drive. Clause 12 says that I need to purchase a hard drive to store the recovered files. (He stated this did not pertain to me). There are 27 clauses on this page. I said that I would sign that I agree to all of them except these 3. He said I was being nit picky. I told him if I'm being nit picky then he is as well. He said well then we can't help you. I'm sorry but if you're a mechanic and you wreck a persons car while test driving it, you are responsible for the damages. This should be no different. If they would add to that clause something to the effect of this does not pertain to data retrieval only on functioning hard drives that would be something I could work with. Instead they lost out on my money and I wasted 60 minutes of my time driving there and back. read more

Could not be more grateful for this company. I'm a skateboarding videographer who works with numerous skateboarders and some brands throughout California. I experienced a mechanical failure with my hard drive while attempting to back up all my video files on a cloud storage. The issue wiped the data off my laptop (my only back up at the time), sent my laptop into a boot loop, and crashed the hard drive entirely. This hard drive contained 7 months of skate footage (over 20 hours of video) and I was sure I would never see any of it again. Fortunately I took my time to shop around recovery centers and ended up driving an hour to National City to ADS. In less than 2 weeks, I now have about 85% of my footage back!! The company is continuing to repair the drive and hopes to bring back as many lost files as possible. Data recovery is an insanely tedious process and nothing is promised, but ADS will work til the very end to recover what they can! There is no better location for data recovery in San Diego county. No one has been in business longer than them and I can see why!! They didn't charge me a single cent until I confirmed that the data was recovered. They also charge WAY less than nearly every other recovery center. Highly recommend!!! Huge thank you to Joe and his crew of data wizards at Advanced Data Solutions. While I hope to never encounter this again, I know where to go in times of emergency! Note: A lot of these 1 star reviews don't understand the way this works. Not all data can be recovered as there are numerous reasons/types of failures. However, if you do find yourself in a situation like this, it doesn't hurt by taking it to the best in the business!!! read more

Excellent service, fair price and fast. They helped me with a critical accounting data in a failed DELL 4 disk RAID unit, Many thanks

I was completely crushed when I accidentally overwrite my external hard drive existing files when I chose Mac Time Machine. That's right, when you use Time Machine to backup your MacBook, it erases all your existing files in your external hard drive. Needless to say, this is a very painful lesson as I lost my life memories (photos and videos) and my life long career documents and files. When I called Advanced Data, Joe was very kind to me and reassure me it was a common mistake. He listen actively to learn every step I've made leading up to the mistake and walk me thru the process they will do to assess my hard drive for the recovery. I called many hard drive recovery companies in San Diego. Almost all of them wanted me to send/drop off my hard drive and they will ship it out to a lab for assessment. Advanced Data was the only company in San Diego that was able to assess my hard drive locally in their shop. Throughout the entire process Joe and his team were professional, honest, straightforward - no games, and treated with me with respect and dignity. They were able to recover 99% of my files and even restored those files with its original file names. It took just a few days to recover all the files, all the while, they never took down my cc info until I was completely satisfied with the recovery. Joe and his team have earned my trust and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is ever in a bind like this. read more

I am at work doing my books and suddenly my monitor went black with computer jargon on the screen that I didn't understand. My computer guy told me my hard drive is fried. I am in a panic. So I have them a try. I walked in and Joe greeted me with a smile. He explained everything to me and I left my hard drive in his care. He also told me that if they weren't successful I wouldn't have to pay anything. Sounded good to me! If you need data recovered (that you or others were unable to access or retrieve), then this is the place to come (get it done for you). There is no cost for an evaluation of the problem and assessment of the probable chances for successful repair or recovery. The cost will range from $200 to $2,000 depending upon what might be needed. If any parts need to be ordered, that might be a bit more, but they seem to have many (used) parts on hand that they can try to use (first) at no charge. They retain your recovered data for as long as 2 weeks on their computer (just in case there is some question, concern, or issue regarding whatever device they downloaded it on for you to take with you) then they delete it forever. Their prices may seem high, but are still lower than many others (who might not even be able to do as good or fast a job). Their policy is that customers only pay if satisfied and they were able to do what was needed - and they will give you opportunity to check results and ask any questions before paying. Free parking is available on the street right in front of their building. They work 24/7 and can respond to emergency requests (and late night calls) - but prefer that you make an appointment and come in during "normal business hours". They are willing to patiently listen to people - and even more patiently explain whatever needs to be known, understood, or decided. How much is your data worth to you? read more

Review of my experience with Advanced Data Solutions, National City, CA My hard drive crashed without warning and at a time when I was not properly backing up my computer files. I took the drive to Joe at Advanced Data Solutions (ADS) without much hope of recovering my data. A day later I received a call from Guadalupe who let me know that in the opinion of the ADS engineers, most of my data could be recovered from the disabled hard drive. A few days later I walked out of the ADS shop with 100% of my data fully recovered and residing on an external hard drive. I am very pleased with the care and professionalism that was shown by Joe, Guadalupe and Tim among several others who worked on my project. The price was exactly what was quoted up front, and they met an aggressive time schedule for this kind of work. Most importantly, I have all of my data that was lost in the hard drive crash incident. I would give Advanced Data Solutions a rating of five on a scale of one through five in all areas including engineering competence, staff professionalism and staff attitude of giving excellent customer service.
