My wife's car had a sudden problem, losing all electrical power. Not even a dome light, when the anti-theft device was 'clicked'. Not all the time, very intermittent, but did not want my wife to have to drive it like this. Called Big O, where I usually get work done, and they 'don't do electrical systems'. Without knowing if it was a battery, alternator, didn't matter to them, they simply refused. Found Advanced Auto, talked to Tom, he said they would certainly take a look and perform diagnostics free of charge to see if they could find the problem. Called back an hour after dropping it off, and found the negative terminal on the battery was crossthreaded causing intermittent contact!! When we went to pick the car up, there was NO CHARGE!! Tom stated it was a simple fix, so we could not even make him take our money. Excellent service, great place to have work done. My only regret is they are not open Saturdays, but hey, due to their excellent service, that is not a big deal. read more

Turns out I had a belt that was ready to go..I talked to a guy named Tom and he said they could fix it that day. While I was waiting they told me there was a place within walking distance that we could go have lunch wile they fixed it.. I have been coming here to Advanced Auto for years now. They take care of my truck and even made a exception to work on my horse trailer ( wheel bearings/brakes ) That was a huge bonus !! I have dealt with Dave and Tom, both are friendly, honest and will not sell you anything that you don't need. They even told me I could hold off on a few things for now and helped me prioritized my car repairs. First of all, I have a hard time trusting mechanics. That being said, I went into advanced auto with my denali because it was having electrical problems. ( mainly my door locks and my power seats) I spoke with Tom first. He said they would need it for a day to properly diagnose the problem. I dropped it off the next morning on my way to work. They called me at noon on the dot and were very specific about the problems they found. They said they could fix it for me and have it ready that day. They called me back at 245 and told me they had found that part of my wire harness was destroyed. Needless to say, I was heart broke. Tom quickly respond with good news, they could still do the work and it didn't cost much more then I was already paying. I got the car back the next morning and was blown away by how many problems it fixed. My windshield wipers worked consistently, the locks and powered seats were back to normal and my interior lights worked again. I will take my car here for everything now and actively spread the word of these great professionals. read more

I found this repair shop through AAA and I gave them a try because they were certified, gave a 10% discount to AAA members, and it was close to my home. I needed the rear end of my Dodge pickup re-built and these guys did a great job! They were very professional, friendly and thorough. They were prompt with the diagnosis and gave me a reasonable estimate. Even though they predicted it to be a three day job they were done within a day and a half and the truck has run perfectly since. I will certainly use this shop in the future if I have any problems with my truck. read more

I was driving from LA to SF and decided to get a hotel for the night in Livermore. After I checked into my hotel, I went back out to my car with the intention of finding some food. Then.....bang! My car didn't start! I woke up the next morning and started combing the yellow pages to find a car mechanic. When I found Advanced Auto I explained to them my situation. The owner(Dave) was real friendly and said that he would be willing to diagnose the issue for free. FOR FREE! Most places I called wanted to charge me $150-$200 for a diagnoses After I got to Advanced Auto the owner told me that they would not proceed with any repairs without first informing me of the cost. They then ran a diagnostic on my car free of charge and told me that I needed a new timing belt. He told me the cost would be $460. I told him I had $439 to my name and I still needed to get back home to LA. He agreed to do the job for $400 and left me the $39 so I would have enough gas money to get back to Los Angeles. THEY REALLY HOOKED ME UP! I doubt I would have found anyone else in the area who would have been so generous. They did a great job fixing my car and threw in a free oil change. They also ran extra diagnostics and gave me advice on other issues my car might have. The Job was done in just 2 hours! If that wasn't enough, I got a call from the owner the next morning at home in Los Angeles because he wanted to make sure I got home ok. If I lived within a 75 mile radius I would definitely make Advanced Auto my go to car place! read more

Took my car in for AC blowing hot air. work was done promptly. but on followup for continuing the fix, when Tom misstated the location of a part, and i pointed out the correct location he became argumentative and stated he already had one customer tell him his job today and was not going to put up with it anymore. he would not allow me to finish a sentence. he told me he would not work on the car anymore, so i had to pay up, which i did. never had this happen before. you be the judge. read more

They never sell us anything we don't need or do repairs that we do not authorize. Even when they are busy they are willing to help us. They have told us that they value us as customers (not many places actually tell you that) and are always willing to help. I have finally found my guys! Tim (owner) really understands what it means to be a community business. He provides EXCELLENT customer service, timely work and reasonable prices. We recently had our brakes done on our BMW and a few days later there was a new strange noise Saturday night. We contacted Tim over the weekend. He replied immediately and first thing Monday his guys were there to look at it. The issue sounded worse than it was, but Tim did a triple check to make sure there was nothing else. Tim responded to the concerns immediately, did not question our followup call and really worked to solve the problem ASAP. I love that he is local and that he gets it! I went in for brake repairs and came away with a $1,200 bill for some non-existent services. It seemed that after the brake repairs, I would get a call to tell me this and that needed repairs. In other words, they kept upgrading my repairs; I needed a new water pump, needed new timing belt, needed new sparks plugs, needed an oil change. It was even suggested that my clutch needed replacement; I just had my transmission and clutch replaced and it needed replacing again? They called back and confirmed it was new. These guys do upgrade repairs, you go in for one thing and then they recommend more work. What a scam. What really worried me was how they could get all those parts for my older car in just a few hours; I know that you have to shop around for parts for my car because it is older and foreign-made.But they had everything done in less than five hours. Also, I got charged $8 twice for brake fluid and $32 for non-existent antifreeze; I bought my own antifreeze for half their price and filled the radiator and reservoir myself. I later took my car to two other auto repair mechanics, these guys do repairs on a large scale, or fleet service, and both said I would be lucky if the listed repairs were actually done. I had one of the mechanics call for an hourly labor quote; he was told that they charge by the job; really, most places tell you an hourly rate or post it at the garage, not this place. I'm sorry I went to Advanced Auto, and I would NOT recommend them to anyone. These guys should be reported to the state's Consumer Affairs department. read more

I have been going to Advanced Auto for about twenty years. I recently had a clutch installed and that part of the job was fine. The mechanic failed to insure everything was working properly. Three of my gages were not reconnected. This was minor but it should not have happened.
