In July '22 took my work winter coat to this place to have my zipper replaced, charge was $45.00. The seamstress said this was a heavy duty zipper and this would last so it was $45.00!! Well when I finally wore the jacket in Dec, when it got cold the zipper thread was coming apart! I take it to her and now she wants to charge me again!! I explained I just wore the jacket!! I wouldn't recommend this no good ass place to nobody! I've had my clothes dry cleaned before but this is the first time I was dropping off for alterations. Recently, purchased a suit for the first time and I needed the sleeves shortened about an inch, the bottom of the jacket hemmed, and the waist of the pants reduced. The woman who works there was very friendly, took all my measurements, and gave me suggestions on what kind of alterations would be best for my body type. The whole process didn't take too long and when I got my suit back, it looked and felt great! Finally!!! Finally able to find a reasonably priced and quality dry cleaners in Hyde Park. I've been to this location twice, once for dry cleaning and the second time for laundry. Both times extremely pleased with the service. I had a huge spill of red wine on one of my favorite shirts and informed the owner and he said that it wouldn't be a problem getting out. It's a tan colored shirt so I already came to the conclusion that if it didn't work to just throw it away. Left and when I came back I couldn't see a thing. And I didn't pre-treat the shirt beforehand (as I should have) and the stain was completely gone. Plus everything else was properly starched and clean. $1.50 to have your shirt laundry and properly starched is a steal. Without a doubt this is my new cleaners. read more

I love this place because they do a wonderful job with their dry cleaning, but was more impressed by the quality of alteration. I'm quite tall (6'4") and skinny so sometimes the clothes I buy can be a little loose. They were able to perfectly reduce the waist size on a pants I brought there. Great service! I took a pair of pants here to get the bottoms hemmed up a bit. They have a little fitting area with a curtain right in the front. I tried the pants on, we discussed where I want the pants to hit, and she had them ready for me in about 5 days. It cost me $11, $10 if I would have had them dry-cleaned as well. So I brought in two pants and 2 shirts to get them tailored, in total my bill came out to $100, and for being a new customer I got $5 so that was nice of them. Well, my pants were longer than I had asked for. I was to wear them with flats but now I have to wear about 2 inch heels so they don't drag or for me to step on them. Sucks because I walk A LOT. I gave them 5 days but they were only done with my shirts. She wanted me to come back the next day but I told her I had to work so she told me to come at 7PM. I came at 7, She had me try on the pants and I told her they are still too long and I have to wear heels now and she was like "oh good! Heels!" I was like :/ Then she still had to press them -_- So I took home the 2 shirts and 1 pants and I came I. To pick up my pants after giving here 4 extra days and she told me to come back at 5:30PM. I took a shirt and a jacket to Advance Cleaners to have their sleeves shortened. Once I got my shirt and jacket back home, I discovered that the sleeves of the shirt were four inches too short- they ended midway between my elbow and wrist. My jacket's sleeves were less poorly altered, but the left sleeve was about an inch too short and the right sleeve was about an inch and a half too short. I returned to Advance Cleaners, showed the clerk (who both measured my sleeves and made the alterations) the sleeves. She seemed stunned, and offered to "fix" the sleeves. I pointed out that fixing the sleeves would be impossible, as they had already been cut short. If such a thing could be done, I would not trust her to do it. I commented that my sleeves were four inches short. She defended her work by asserting they were merely three and a half inches short. This really happened. She kept offering to fix it, but I firmly insisted that she give me my money back. She did, and also gave me the scraps from my shirt sleeves. I have taken the items to another place to see what can be done. tl;dr- Do not under any circumstances take clothing to Advance Cleaners be altered. read more

My first experience at advance cleaners was not a very good one. I dropped my clothes here to be cleaned & they did not get it very clean at all. The lady agreed and she sent it back again only to be returned looking exactly the same as the day I dropped it off. The manager was away on a trip to Korea and left someone in charge who could not handle business. Long story short I paid $24 for a cleaning I never received. New to the area, after reading the reviews here, decided to take my clothes for cleaning. Dropped off my items, gave my credit card number, they offered to deliver for free-I was very pleased. Clothes were delivered on time. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Lee, the owner called to say my credit card did not go through, why he didn't charge my card before delivering I do not understand? I gave them the number four additional times, he claimed the card still did not go through. He advised me it's okay, you can pay the next time you drop off, or mail a check. I checked with my bank there was nothing wrong with my card, and no transactions pending or attempted. One week later on a Saturday afternoon while unpacking in my new apartment, someone began literally slamming and pounding on my door. I opened the door, it was Mr. Lee, he said: why don't you pay me? He snuck into my secure building pass the doorman, and slammed on my door began demanding payment. I promptly went into his establishment and paid the $50.70 I owed. Will absolutely never use this cleaners again. I have never been harassed at my home for a payment, especially after being told I could pay next time or mail a check. His wife originally wrote down my credit card number incorrectly, and the language barrier was evident, trying to give my number over the telephone. Horrible customer service! read more

After a long night out, I need to have one of my coats cleaned. Since it was soooo cold and it's my favorite coat, I didn't want to travel too far to drop off & pick up, so I tried this location out. I can't remember how much I've paid in the past, it was about $15. When I returned to pick it up at the time they said it would be ready, it wasn't ready. I was asked to come back maybe an hour later but I couldn't return until the next day. That was my only issue though. Brought my custom made drapery in for DRY CLEANING. When purchased they were $600. I was charged $100 and told to return in two weeks. When I picked up my drapes they were faded from beige to off white and the drapes were 5 inches shorter than the lining. The drapes were 72 inches long, and now were 67 inches long. When shown to the clerk she said she would "fix." We left them with her and when we went back she gave us the draperies with the lining no longer hanging out. We brought them home and measured them. They were still 67 inches long. When hung, the window showed five inches below the drapes. We brought them back. We wanted our money back $100 and $127 to put up curtains on the windows until we could have draperies made. She said we were not to make a profit. How is it making a profit? we paid $100 to have our drapes ruined. They still refuse a refund and say they are going to stretch the drapery back into their original size.
