Congratulations. You not only lost a sale today, you lost a loyal customer. Came in search of some car care supplies that I knew they'd have, but also noticed fuel treatment that was BOGO. That was the factor in my additional purchase. Guy rang it up, I informed him it was two-fer-one, had to walk him to where I got it, he read it had expired but I pointed out they're supposed to honor the posted price. "Good point." Lame manager totally mishandled the exchange, claimed she couldn't void the sale and re-enter it, but I'm sure she figured out how to void it after I walked and took my business to AutoZone at 10960 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030. I came here on a Friday around noon in December 2023 to replace the wiper blades (front and back) for a Mazda CX-5. The store was not too busy, so I asked for assistance. Eric was professional and very helpful in looking up the specific wiper blade size needed and suggesting options (pros and cons). Although a few customers needed help at the same time, I was impressed that Eric quickly called for backup assistance at the register, and brought out the wiper blades to install them on the Mazda SUV for free. In short, Eric provided excellent customer service that was "above and beyond". Will definitely return here for wiper blade replacements in the future if the store is not too busy. read more

I bought a battery from this store about a year ago - the guy told me that he could not put my battery in for me and said that the reason had something to do with Subaru. Wasn't accommodating and wasn't personable. I was hesitant on returning to this store due to my not so pleasant experience the first time, but I was having some trouble with the battery I purchased, so I returned. I bought a wiper blade for my wife's car and she was unhappy with its performance. I returned and asked to purchase a new one, since I didn't have the receipt from before. Shane told me that he would both replace the wiper blade at no charge and perform the installation. As I departed, he said that if my wife was still unhappy to come back and he would try another type of wiper blade. One seldom encounters customer service at this high level. What is it about parts counter people? the guy i met was so condescending i walked out and went elsewhere wont be back.

My car wouldn't start and instead of taking it to an auto body shop, I decided to have it towed to Advance Auto Parts for a free battery/alternator test. I'm so glad I had my car brought here! After having the battery tested, we found out that the problem wasn't a dead battery or alternator. One side of my battery was not screwed on securely because whoever changed it last did a terrible job and the metal had even gotten bent. The specialist I spoke with was so kind and informative (I regret not asking what his name was. Sorry!). He had me buy one small part which was under $3 and the problem was solved! Tried giving these guys a second chance. Came here in the morning, again. Had to get the battery tested, they had one person working at 830 and he had to do the battery checks and kan the register. Obviously, the battery checks were pushed back and back while he manned the register. I bought my car parts yesterday from this store and they told me that they have a return policy. I went home tried the parts and they did not fit. When I came back to store they told me that they won't return opened packages. They told me to throw my parts in the trash. But how would I know if the parts fit without opening them. I recommend buying your parts from Walmart they have a 60 days open package return and they have the same parts with a lower price. read more

I've never had someone do such a thorough job making sure all acid residue was scraped off, and overall left my car in better condition than I brought it in. The horn on my car stopped working. I call the Vienna location, they suggested I check the horn fuse and the relay switch. I was helped by David, he was just about the get off work. David took the time to test both fuse and relay switch, they were both good. He found a horn I could install, he came out to my car and installed it. It worked and I could not be more thankful. Had to return a part twice because neither worked and the staff was rude and acted as if it was so unusual insinuating it is something I was doing. I am a former mechanic and besides I went to another auto parts distributor and got a part that actually worked the first go around. On top of all that they gave me a receipt that said I could no longer return anything without a receipt. What??? they sell me defective parts and threaten me because I returned them too often. No worry however, I will never give them my business again. read more

My car battery had died when I was out with my pregnant wife and 1 year old son, but luckily I was able to flag down someone who could give me a jump start. The car wouldn't hold a charge so I quickly made my way to Advanced Auto Parts in Vienna as they widely advertised free battery installation with purchase. I purchased a battery and asked to have it installed at the register when they refused to install the battery. Confused as I was staring at a very large sign indicating Free battery installations, the employee told me that he was instructed by the manager to not install any more batteries the rest of the day. If that was the case, they should caveat the advertisement as free battery installations with purchase only when the store feels like it. The sun was still out and the store was open for at least a few more hours, I asked what I should do as I had my family in the car and a dead battery. I was basically told to find another store. Cancelled my purchase and got another person to jump start my car and drove 20 minutes to the Advance Auto Parts in Fairfax where they graciously installed a new battery in minutes. Still can't believe they forced us to drive to another Advance Auto Parts store for the exact same service they advertise as free. Definitely would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

This store has been great. I've placed multiple orders online for in-store pickup, and it's always a smooth process. On one occasion I had a tail lamp bulb out, and they didn't have a BMW bulb in stock. But, the guy was able to find an exact fit replacement of a different model number. He let me go out to my vehicle to be certain that it fit properly before charging me, which was a nice gesture. read more

Worst customer service. The sales associate, FARCHID is by far the rudest I have encountered. I went in for advice and to ask a couple questions. I asked my questions- and his response was- "well what do you want me to do about it?" what do I want you to do about it, well obviously help me! Then he proceeds to just walk away from me while I'm talking saying "idk what you want me to do"...like how Is that anywhere near good customer service? And why are you working at an auto part place when you clearly don't know anything about cars! Or it was the fact that he didn't want to help me; well if that was the case why not ask one of your other co-workers to help me; rather than just walking away from me... I really do not understand and am still shocked on his customer service. I will not be returning to this place. What a way to lose customers... and only reason I gave 1 star is because I can't give them 0!! read more

I stopped in earlier today to buy a headlight for my vehicle. The technician helped me find the correct bulb well enough, but responded with a flat 'no' when I asked if he could please install it. Surprised, I asked why not and he said it was too much liability. I have never head that from and AAP or similar shop so I asked what type of liability and he said "it's just too much". He then told me to "just go youtube it or get a neighbor to do it.". I explained to him that I was on my lunch break and didn't have time to go to someone else but I was hoping to have it replaced since I leave for an hour-long drive home after work after the sun has already set. (I am also leaving early tomorrow morning (before sunrise) to travel to another state)). No response other than "sorry, we can't do it". So, one hour, two greasy and sore hands, 6 youtube videos, and no progress later here I am, still none the better. Worst 'service' ever. read more

Very good for an auto PARTS store. I've been impressed with the broad inventory this store has, and I especially like being able to order online, and pick up the part at the counter, without waiting for them to look up the part, or me having to squint (old eyes) at the packages on the shelves. Even if I order online, and have the part delivered to my house, I can still return/exchange parts at the Maple Avenue store. Very easy returns. No problems with staff not understanding English. They accept all auto fluids for recycling - including brake fluid and antifreeze. I read the negative reviews from folks who had issues with batteries to be tested. I don't doubt those reviewers were disappointed for personal reasons. But remember, this is an auto PARTS store. I get it that they offer free battery testing as a promotion, so folks will hold them to account for the promises of free service. I would never go to an auto PARTS store expecting significant free repair advice. Be real. You get what you pay for when it comes to free auto repair advice. No? For what its worth, I bought a high performance (gel-mat type) battery for one of my cars at the Maple Avenue store. Even though the new battery was more powerful than the original factory battery, the new battery was somewhat smaller than the battery tray in my engine compartment. This caused the battery to not fit quite right in the battery tray. The store manager at at the Maple Avenue store volunteered to help me install a spacer to make the battery fit just right. The fix was quick, and the fix worked great. I've been in a number of bad auto parts stores. In my lengthy experience, this one is much, much better than the majority. read more

I bought a 60 month car battery from Advanced about 3 years ago. Three times this winter battery was dead, even after a two hour drive, the car would not start an hour later. Took the battery back to Advanced, they tested it and tested my alternator and said all was fine. They would not do anything. Battery failed to start car again. Complained again, they "tested" and said all was fine. I threw in the towel and bought a new battery elsewhere. Never buy a battery from them. By the way, another customer in line behind me at Advanced had the same complaint, but they do nothing. read more
