Last night I bought a starter relay because my daughters car wouldn't start. The box they sold it to me in was kinda krinkled up (which I thought was odd), but the part was new and looked good. So I bought it. My daughter ended up being able to start her car a few minutes later (probably a loose wire or something). So I didn't need the relay. Didn't install it. Didn't do anything. It was still brand new in box. Tried to return it to the store (this was 20 MINUTES after buying it), and the guy said that it had been installed or looked used. So he would not take it back. Again, this was 20 MINUTES after I bought it. No oil, no grime, no scrapes, no dents, not even a scratch on it...because it didn't leave the box that I bought it in. I felt insulted and felt like I was being called a liar...as if I were trying to con them or something. Felt humiliated. All this over an overpriced $30 relay that I could find from any online vendor for $10-15. They destroyed our relationship and my confidence in ever buying from them again. After all these years and all the purchases that I made, I never want to go back. I will drive the extra five miles to Oreilly or just buy online at Rockauto or something. So just beware if you buy anything that you might even remotely ever need to return to the store. Don't expect them to kindly give your money back. They pulled this on me 20 MINUTES after purchase with a NEW IN BOX part and a VALID RECEIPT in hand. I would go so far as to say that you better triple-check the part before you even leave the store and make darn sure that it is the right part and that you will never need to return it, because they might pull this on you.

I once was sold the incorrect calipers because the guy behind the counter at another business didn't take the time to verify my calipers matched the ones in the box. I have 8 cars and have been going to autozone for 10+ years. They have the lowest prices around and their store is well stocked. I only go else where if they don't have my part (which is very rare). Ultimately, the situation was resolved differently by the location where we purchased the tires, but that doesn't diminish the outstanding service Jason provided. His professionalism, customer service, and genuine desire to help left a lasting impression. He treated us with kindness, respect, and honesty throughout the entire process. Getting a quote was ok but the steps after that to get it picked at the collision storage facility was a nightmare. All calls were through India, was transferred several times, could not understand most of the people and needed to constantly ask them to repeat what they said. Arranging for pickup was another nightmare. They could not give me an estimated time, even am or pm, all they do is give you an hours notice to pick up. If your car is some distance away you need to sit there all waiting for the call. It is 3:30 pm, still waiting.

The tow truck driver (AJ Towing) said, "these folks will take care of you". I went in and explained my plight to Rob, who was behind the counter. He quickly ordered the part (a new connector for the alternator) and had it there within 40 minutes. I was prepared to install it myself, but he readily jumped into action and was out there putting the part on the car. He then very patiently helped me jump start the car, which took awhile because the battery was quite dead at that point. He also hooked up a sensor device and made sure the system was working properly. He did find a problem with the voltage regulator, but I made it home to northern IL without incident. So it turns out I didn't have a bad day, really, and that's because of how well I was treated by Rob and the guys at O'Reilly Auto Parts, as well as the other help I received this day. As I drove home, I was grateful and humbled by the experience, knowing that there are some really good people around when one is in trouble. That's very uplifting in this era we're in. I am very thankful. I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat!

I have a summer toy that spends most of its life in the garage so it sits for about 7 month with out being driven/rarely started and anyone who does this has to deal with battery issues. Normally this is no big deal because I use a jump box but it died last year and the car was absolutely dead so I needed to get a new battery jump starter this year to get the car going. The price range is $50 to $600 for jump boxes after comparing all the parts stores but I didn't need anything fancy or expensive because it's going to be used a couple times a year in spring time only. Oriellys had a $59.99 unit which would work well for my needs and it was on the shelf and to my surprise I pushed the battery status button, it was 100% charged so I didn't have to wait to charge it up and started my toy right away and drove I off with it in minutes. I stood in line to pay for the thing and a guy says open over here and a second guy says open here with a discount, who do you think I went to. I thought they were just playing around with the customers but the guy actually gave me $6 off and how fuc#%ng cool is that for a first impression because I have never been to this store and I thought it looked dumpy and I didn't know what to expect from them. Way to go Oriellys for my first visit, what I thought was going to be a couple hour ordeal on my only day off was as simple as it could have been so I'm definitely going back when I need something car wise.
