A few people recommended this place, so I went there. The service was very disappointing. My appointment was in the morning, so I followed their advice to drop off my car the day before. However, I called them at least 5 times in the morning to check the status of my car because I was told they couldn't find it or the person working on it was not available. It was just a diagnosis, not repairing! It was finally done after 1pm. After I got into my car, I smelled strong cigarette smoke. The steering wheel felt greasy. BUYER BEWARE! I I took my son's car in for an evap code and a check engine light. I got a call back with an estimate of $882 dollars. $430 of that was parts. While deciding whether to spend the money on the car, I looked online to validate the cost of the parts, only to find a kit that had everything in it for $160. when I went to pickup the car (I declined to have the work completed), I was charged $102 for diagnostics. Seems that diagnostics are only 'free' if you buy services. Also, When my estimate was printed out, it was only $777. Hmm, could that $115 difference be the 'free' diagnostics? I would not trust this shop. read more

I've been going to Girard's for years for my regular oil change and whenever my car makes weird and unusual noises. I go here because I can trust them and they are always looking out for you. Their prices are slightly more expensive compared to other places, but I feel like they do their checks thoroughly, which makes me feel better to spend that extra bucks. Another nice thing about them is that they're open on Saturday till 1 pm! And they have a reward program, so you can collect your points and redeem them. Took my 2007 Honda Odyssey into Girard's to inspect noise coming from the front end. The noise has been intermittent for a couple of years but it was getting worse. Honda dealer could not identify problem. They said to correct needed front struts and sway bar. Had the installation of struts and sway bar performed a few days later. After work completed no more noise! Took the van up north and rode like a new vehicle plus I was getting much better mileage. I would highly recommend Girard's for any vehicle repairs. read more

Took my car here a few weeks ago for a engine leak. I was told the rear main oil seal needed to be replaced and it would cost $800. I took my car to another mechanic who diagnosed the leak as coming from my transmission and the car was still under warranty. The second mechanic and the dealer clearly stated my rear oil seal wasn't leaking and it was a good thing I got a second opinion because I would have paid $800 for something that didn't need to be fixed. read more

I recently purchased new tires and needed an alignment done. Another local "chain" auto service center claimed I needed nearly $1000 worth of suspension work before they could align my car. That seemed excessive so I declined and took my car to Girard's instead. I have never gone there in the past, but have driven past it many times. It was very easy to get an appointment. The cost for an alignment was very reasonable. I dropped my car off on Friday night and it was ready to go mid morning on Saturday. I'm happy with the work, price, and service. There was no feeling of being jerked around like I experienced at the chain service center. I should also add they have a really nice waiting area - including a place for kids to hang out. That's a really nice touch for busy parents. I think they will be my go to spot for auto service going forward. Highly recommended if you're in the area!! read more

I called Girards Service Of Franklin, yesterday to ask how much it would cost to get a headlight replaced on my car. The gentleman who answered the phone gave me a quote. I asked if I could get in the same day (yesterday) and he gave me a time in the afternoon. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted and helped at the desk by a very nice gentleman. My car was worked on right away. The lobby area is very clean and comfortable. My new headlight was installed within 15 minutes. The great thing is that it turned out that the price I paid was cheaper than the bottom quote I was given on the phone. The person at the desk said it all depended on the bulb that was needed. Everything about Girards Service Center, is outstanding. They are very professional and HONEST! Ladies (and gentlemen) you do not have to worry about getting taken here. These people are not only nice, not only professional, but you can TRUST them. They are decent human beings who are not out to rip anyone off. It's the only place that I don't have to fear taking my car to when something needs to be fixed with my vehicle. read more

Past three oil changes from them have resulted with very poor results. Having changed the oil myself for several years, I have never encountered the problems I am now facing. Big oil spot on son's garage floor after first change. Oil spot did not increase after second change and oil slopped over area near filler on valve cover. After third change he received a $251.15 estimate for a supposed valve cover gasket repair. Since I am the registered owner I have a say into needed repairs. Since I am 95% disabled and unable to work on cars, I have to rely on other peoples integrity and honesty. Girards certainly has dropped the ball on this situation. I took the vehicle to a dealer and an independent certified garage. Both places stated there was no leakage and a gasket change was unnecessary. This was good news because it was replaced within the last year and a half. The service writer was MGR and date of service was June 30, 2018. I called today and spoke to MGR and he told me he was the owner and he wrote the service #157813 estimate. I asked him if he verified the leakage or looked at the vehicle in question. He denied both and stated the tech told him. No other people serviced this vehicle between these changes. Told MGR it was a scam and would make sure the appropriate agencies were notified about these practices starting with this review with others to soon follow. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION !!!! it does not cost anything and can save you money. I see one review on here from back in 2011. I guess this place has changed a lot since then. I have had the worst experience with this shop. RUN-DON'T WALK AWAY!! I took my car to them to have a transmission hose leak repaired-small repair that escalated into over $500 in repairs. After the hose was repaired-we took the car home and the next morning the battery was dead-replaced the battery. A couple days later-the car starts making a grinding noise and hesitating at lights-things the car was not doing before. We knew it couldn't be the transmission since we just had it replaced last summer. Took the car back in and we were told that there was a leak in the valve cover gasket-not leaking before we had the hose repaired. Ok they repaired that-and I had a gut feeling at that time that I should not take it back to them but I did-then they tell me the radiator has a leak, over $300 for that-didn't have a leak before-now it's cracked and undrivable. Hmmm-what could be going on? (Always listen to your gut feeling). We were also told that the ball joints need replacing and given an estimate for over $400 for that-even though the ball joints were just replaced last summer also. I can not believe that this kind of thing still goes on. Not at a place that looks like it would be very reputable. Don't be fooled like we were!!! read more

I just returned from my regular oil change/ tire rotation from Girard's and again I have nothing but great things to say about these folks! They service 3 cars for me including routine and complicated repairs. They always work hard to get me in for my needs even on short notice. I have shopped their prices and they are competitive with other shops. They have a great rewards program where you build points for future repairs. I have actually received several free services based on my point accumulation. Best of all you don't have to do anything to participate, they simply keep track of your points for you! I also find their advice to be invaluable. I have never felt like I was being sold a service for profit only. Good Service, Good Prices and Good People, you can't get better than that. read more

Nice friendly staff... had them put on 4 new tires onto a '12 VW Golf R. Disappointed when I got my car back. All 4 wheels had black grease all over them. They didn't take the time to wipe off the grease on my silver alloy rims. And for the weights, they ripped off the old weights, but didn't rub off the adhesive, so I have these black squares of adhesive covered with dirt and brake dust that show through the spokes...I can fix it all myself..just disappointed at the lack of attention to detail or concern to look it over and make it right. read more

I recently bought a 2002 Saturn to drive around town while visiting from another state. I thought the brakes felt 'weird', and took the car in to be evaluated.
