I won't come here again, they took a week to tell me they can't hear the noise I asked them to diagnose. When I got in the car to leave, I heard the noise immediately. I also asked them to change my transmission fluid as recommended in the owners manual & they just forgot about it. When I picked up the car the guy acted like he didn't know I asked for that. We hit a pheasant with our 2020 Subaru Ascent causing about $1300 damage. 5 Corners was on the approved list of body shops and was only blocks from our home. I dropped off the car on a Monday morning and 48 hours later the repairs were completed. The damaged area looked better than the original! Plus the shop buffed out a scratch on the drivers door and did a top to bottom cleaning of the interior. Kudos to David and his crew. We couldn't be more satisfied with the quality of the service. I have a 2013 Ford Transit Connect, which had a transmission remanufactured by a different company about a year or a year and a half ago. That cost me $3,000. It started making horrible noises when I put it in reverse, and I knew that was bad. If it was the transmission and it went out I would just junk the van. I decided against taking it to the original place. ETE took it in on a Friday and got around to looking at it on a Monday. They found out it was a simple case of a seared bolt and replaced it. It cost about $400 for the work and everything was done quickly. I was happy not to be looking at another high price repair or having to junk my van. A less reputable shop may have gouged me. read more

I personally have not had an experience with ETE, but my son has and it's well worth mentioning. I am in Tennessee and my son called from Milwaukee in a panic last night because his Jeep Patriot only had 2nd, 4th and 6th gears. No 1st, 3rd, 5th, or reverse. I suspected something wrong in the linkage and told him to get it to a shop. I Googled the symptoms which ranged from a simple fix to remortgage the house. I was concerned. My son just messaged me to tell me that ETE determined the problem to be a walnut jammed into the linkage and, by the way, NO CHARGE. This is a testament to the owner and employees of ETE who could have taken advantage of the situation and ripped him off. My car's battery succumbed to the winter cold. I got a jump and dropped it off at ETE just after closing time on Friday. (They hadn't locked up yet so I was able to drop of the key inside the building.) They didn't look at it till Tuesday. I was a little disappointed in that, but I figured that if they had such a backlog of customers, they had to be pretty good. They replaced the battery on Tuesday and when I picked my car up I found that they WASHED the winter salt off my vehicle. It's a small thing but no other mechanic shop ever did that. Impressive! The only improvement I would suggest would be a place like a mail slot to drop off your keys after hours. (Maybe there was one, but I didn't see it) read more

The sliding door on our minivan was not closing properly. It looked out of alignment. We called ETE and they said bring it in for a look. Turns out it was a very loose bracket. I want to commend the staff at ETE in Milwaukee. They are very and honest and will not recommend repairs on cars that are 20 years or more. The transmission on my 1998 Buick Century was slipping thus causing it not to go into gear when I shifted the car into reverse. Jeff H. a Service Advisor at the Milwaukee Facility advised me to look for another vehicle because it would cost about $3,000 or more for a rebuilt transmission. The cost would outweigh the value of the car. I took his advice and bought a different vehicle. I have had this Auto Repair Facility for the last couple years. I was satisfied with their service on my 1998 Buick Century. There comes a time that a car needs to be replaced because repairs are beyond the value of vehicle. It was an easy decision based on their advice. I be back to this service in the future when my warranty ends on my current vehicle. It's a Wednesday night. I'm on my way home from a Bucks game (go Bucks!). It's 10pm, and my car dies in the middle of the road. My radio flickers off, my power steering shuts down, and my battery light comes on. Fortunately, I coast to the side of the road, and I cue up my AAA app, and get a tow-truck on its way. I select these guys, Engine & Transmission Exchange, as where I want my car to be towed, because they're first (the nearest) of AAA certified mechanics - I have nothing else to go on. They open at 8am, thursday morning, and I get a phone call by 8:20, looking to confirm what happened with the car the night before, and telling me they'll be in touch later in the morning. 11am rolls around, I've got a follow-up call. My battery and my alternator are shot, I need to replace both. We go over my options, and I make a decision. "Well get it ordered," I'm told. And I'll hear back the following day on a timeline once the alternator is in. I'm disappointed that I won't have my car for the weekend, but happy it'll be taken car of. Fast forward to 3pm on Thursday afternoon. THE SAME DAY. I get a call. My car is ready. I hitch a ride from a coworker. I'm in and out in 5 minutes. Car runs great. This was as pleasant of an experience as I could have hoped for. read more

In July 2019, I purchased a 2002 dodge Ram 1500 4x4 SLT 4 door crew cab with a 4.7L engine with 180,000 miles on it. The truck was in fine condition for its year and mileage. The body work had been done on the rust and the truck was repainted. It looked and ran beautifully and the interior was near perfect. In mid October I found myself with a compression issue in cylinder #2 - zero compression. I had the vehicle towed to ETE 27th St. When I first purchased the truck, it was my intention to, at some point, replace the engine with a reman. I bought this truck because I refuse to pay $28,000 plus interest for a used truck nor was I going to spend $50,000 on something brand new. The truck for me was going to be a sort of project truck. So I was prepared financially to replace the motor if it became necessary. I knew of ETE because my son had worked there some 20 years ago, and now, under new management for the last 12 years or so, I believe, I did some additional research on the business and found them to have a quality reputation. I was aware of the amount of money that would have to be invested to replace this motor, if it needed to be, and it did, indeed, need replacing. I needed to be sure I was dealing with professionals so I asked a ton of questions to see if I got the answers I expected. I met Oscar, who very professionally, and respectfully I might add, answered all of my questions including the novice (stupid) questions I had. Oscar went over the entire process with me so I'd know what to expect in price and warranty and the time frame for replacement (quoted week to 10 days). I put down a deposit and gave the okay for Oscar and the crew at ETE to diagnose the problem and call me with recommendations - repair or replace. It turned out that a valve spring in #2 cylinder cracked dropping the valve/stem into the cylinder causing significant damage to the cylinder and head (not to mention the valve lol)- the engine would need to be replaced. The price quote to replace the motor was quite reasonable. So I gave the okay to replace the motor. This was Monday evening, when I gave the okay. The truck was towed to ETE on the previous Friday. Six days later, Thursday afternoon Oscar called to tell me the truck was finished. The balance due was about $600 UNDER the original quote (pleasant surprise). I picked the truck up on Friday morning and I am so pleased and impressed with how the engine runs that I can't say enough good things about my experience at ETE. I highly recommend ETE for your car/truck repair needs. Life can be stressful enough with daily challenges, but when life seems to take a dump on you it is reassuring to have professionals like those at ETE to lean on. My experience at ETE was pleasurable, professional and stress relieving. I now have a brand new truck (I had completely rebuilt the steering and suspension when I first bought the truck) and now, for less than $10,000.00, with no high monthly truck payment, with no interest and no high insurance bill I have close to a band new truck. Why pay $50,000 for a new truck or $28,000 for a used truck? Find yourself a reasonably good truck that's reasonably priced to start with and when the motor fails you put in a remaned-motor at ETE and save your self the high truck payments, interest and the high insurance bill that can come with a new/used truck purchase. I can't thank the people at ETE enough for putting me back on the road, for treating me with respect and professionalism! I found them through AAA when I moved to Milwaukee in 2010 and have been going for routine and non-routine maintenance at least 4 times a year since. They do good work, they communicate well, they are priced fair and they go above and beyond. One year I was in an accident and brought my car in to get the steering and suspension realigned. When I picked it up they had popped out the dent in the bumper purely out of goodwill given they aren't a body shop and it was free of charge. If the check engine light is on and the diagnostic is something silly like a loose gas cap they will turn off the light and wave the diagnostic fee. If it is something that needs to be repaired the $90 price of the diagnostic is applied towards the repair. Given all the times I've brought my car to them I've only had one incident where some lug nuts were loose after a tire rotation. They were immediately apologetic and reimbursed me. I can't say enough good things about this place. When you walk in you will see many hand written thank you notes from other equally grateful and happy customers. When places like Jiffy Lube are scamming customers by cutting corners and selling unnecessary services it feels good to have a trustworthy mechanic. read more

I had transmission work done by this shop in the past and they did such a good job that I took my truck back to have the motor mounts replaced. I signed up for a living social deal for 3 oil changes, and based on their work, I plan to become a regular after the deal is done. The owner and staff seem to take pride in their work and go above and beyond what they need to do. For example, the first time we went, the "check engine" light was on in our car and without me even mentioning it, they checked it out and cleared it, all at no extra charge. This most recent time that I went, they fixed the rattling sound my car makes, once again at no extra fee. The waiting room is not fancy, just a few chairs and a table with magazines, but they have free coffee, and I haven't had to wait more than 45 minutes for either one. Their hours are not very convenient (M-F, closing at 3:30pm), but if your schedule works, I suggest you give them a try! read more

After my car lost excelleration I knew something wasn't quite right so after taking it to multiple mechanics and another transmission shop I finally called ETE and spoke to Vince. He was not only knowledgeable but encouraged me to bring my car to him so he could take a look at what was going on under the hood. He even drove it and schooled me on how my transmission works. In Milwaukee good mechanics are hard to come by and I swear these guys are the most honest easy going guys I have met. Don't Take your Mercedes Sprinter Here We had a transmission go out while passing through Milwaukee. We were towed to this shop by AAA and felt comfortable after talking with them that they had experience with Sprinters. After getting the van back a week later I hopped in and took off down the freeway toward chicago where were had been staying while waiting for the van. As soon as I got off the freeway and slowed down I could smell burning transmission fluid. Inspecting under the hood I found fluid had come all the way out of the dipstick. I checked the fluid level with my MB dipstick and found it was at least 3" over the full mark on the stick. Well up into the coil spring part of the stick. I called them and they told me to drive it all the way back to them (40mi) so they could take a look. after getting it there They told me everything was fine and that the transmission fluid was at the appropraite level!! even though it was clear that it was insanely too high. "This is how we service all of them" they said They put it on me if I wanted them to correct it to the right level. Saying they would give up any warranty or responsibility if I chose to take any fluid out so that it would be at the correct level on the dipstick. They also repeatedly said "if we overfilled it the fluid would just come out the vent on the case and then it would be fine" - So why does MB have a dipstick if you just put as much fluid in the transmission as you want and let the rest bubble out as it heats up??? it doesn't even make sense. They used high pressure and their "authority" as a technician and shop to make me feel like I had no idea what I was talking about even though it was obvious they had overfilled the transmission. They coerced me to leaving with the transmission filled to that level because i was scared of damaging it myself and having no warranty. (although I highly doubt that they would have stood behind their work anyway) Fast forward 3 weeks and the transmission is slipping and hard shifting. I've taken it to another shop that told me it was grossly overfilled and that its likely I could have caused significant damage to the transmission. Hoping for the best going forward, but just a warning to all others that this shop can't even fill a transmission with fluid properly... or if they do mess up, they are to scared to take any ownership of it... not sure which is more accurate but either way I would steer clear. read more

On 4/17/2018 I dropped my Jeep Liberty CRD off at ETE in the evening. It had just dropped out of overdrive for the second time while I was going down the freeway. It also had been much louder as of late with a metal rattling/banging noise. I called the next day after 5:00PM because no one had contacted me to even acknowledge they had received my vehicle. They were working on it, but were a little behind because their diesel technician had been off for a few days. I was told the technician checked the transmission and it was fine. They just recommended changing the Etax relay for the transmission (the same relay they changed the last time I was in 3 years earlier). I also had them do an oil change. When I came to pick up my vehicle the cost was $158.40 which was not horrible, but they left my vehicle dirty including a big oily swath across the steering wheel stem. Unfortunately a week and a half later the real issue was revealed. The torque converter bolts had come loose which was causing the metal rattling/banging noise and on 4/27/2018 they sheared off, disconnecting the torque converter from the transmission. I was stuck in the middle of rush hour traffic with everyone trying to get around me. Mechanics aren't perfect and can't always find these needles in the haystack, but needless to say, I was still very disappointed. With the tech being backed up from being gone, I suspect my vehicle diagnosis did not get the time and attention it could have. With this in mind and the other 'little' things (cleanliness and communication), I cannot offer a positive review and I would have a hard time ever coming back. read more

I received great reviews from coworkers and decided to have them look at my 2003 Honda Accord after I suspected some transmission issues. Not only did they look at my car for free but they thoroughly explained what was going wrong and were transparent on cost. At the end of the day, my suspicions were correct and I did need a new transmission, due to the high cost of the repair, high mileage, and age of the car I opted get a new car. However, if I ever need my new car serviced, I will go here again and will definitely be recommending them to others in the future. read more

This place- yes this place- tried to rob me of $1700. I first went to this five-star yelp rated repair shop closer to home to check on getting a rattling heat shield removed from my Subaru. The person who looked at it thought that they could take it off but the manager at this five star rated shop (Oscar) in Greenfield shushed him and said No! it is impossible to remove these and he printed off the specifications for my car and said they are impossible to change and I would have to pay $1775 take off everything and get an entire new catalytic converter Since they would need to remove that in order to remove the heat shield and I would need a new one instead of replacing it with the original etc. etc. etc. Luckily I went to the wonderful Firestone Affordable Car Repair near my work place for a second opinion and they were indeed able to remove the heat shield for $75. YES !! $1700 saved because they were honest and didn't try to gauge me like Milwaukee Engine Transmission Exchange (Oscar). Always get a second opinion. read more

Took my car to ete mid January and when I got the the call over two (2) weeks later that my car was ready....get there to pick it up and my car had deep scratches on the rear end drivers side and a cracked taillight. Was told that they share a parking lot with the car lot to the south and a building to the north of they building...ask abt the cameras and of course they claim they weren't working(how convenient). After paying over $6000 for the work done on my car don't think using a "shared"parking lot as an excuse for the damage done to my vehicle. if anyone is considering this company I advise to take pictures or video of your vehicle before handing your keys over!!! read more

The quality of workmanship was always the best, based on their constant quest to find and further train only the best technicians. I had problems with my Jeep. Warning light saying Transmission Over Temp came on. The guys there checked it over and instead of charging us an arm and a leg to fix all the parts --- they actually went the extra mile to find the problem - it was the water pump of all things. Then after that was changed --- two days later that same warning light came on. I called and talked to Vince the owner. He went the extra mile and checked the Jeep all out for me. It took them several hours to really make sure as they ran the engine -- the engine was not over temp at all -- it ran absolutely great. The warning light was wrong. And strangely enough - it has never come back on. The Jeep is running great. The guys at ETE really went above and beyond. They had a 94 dodge ram for sale out in their parking lot and my boyfriend and I went in to look at. I asked multiple times if there was anything wrong with it and the technician told me no, it runs just fine and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Assuming that this was the truth because it was at an auto place I bought the truck. The first time my boyfriend drove it to work it broke down on the freeway and wouldn't start. I called this place asking for any sort of help and the owner did not care at all. He raised his voice on the phone with me told me nothing could be done because I already bought the truck and he just did not care at all. I am now out $1,500. I was told to bring it in and I would have to pay to fix it. Why would I pay them to fix a truck when it was their fault in the first place? I was having trouble with my parents handicap van, I had taken it to several shops and no one could figure out the problem. A person that I met while picking one of my parents up at a doctor appt. mentioned they get ther van repaired at ETE, and i should take it there for service. The next morning I dropped it of at the 27th st. location. I told them that the vehicle has been at many shops and no one could figure the problem out, and that I would need the van back the following day for an appt. By the time I returned home, there was a message on my answering machine, reguarding the vehicle. I called and spoke to one of the service advisors and they informed me that the van had a simple cooling system repair needed and it would be ready to pick up around one o'clock in the afternoon and it would only cost $90 plus tax, I was very skeptical, but agreed. I picked the van up and have not had a problem with it since. I have not had any problems with any of my other vehicles yet, but if I do I will be returning. read more
