I do not recommend this shop at all. They quoted me an outrageous price to change out the water pump, serpentine belt & thermostat. A 3-4 hour job including parts, they gave me a price of $1,000.00. I can get the motor swapped out for that price. I know how much the parts are and how long it takes because we did the work on my cousin's car that has the same motor. read more

They charged all these fees and did not return all of the materials they removed from the car once they were advised I did not authorize work and would be taking the car to a more professional business. read more

I have been taking my 2 vehicles to Tom's now and nowhere else. They are fast and professional. They have a updated way of doing things most small shops do not have... the quotes come via text and their record keeping is superb I can call the shop and they have my car records and all previous quotes in 5 seconds. The owner is hands on and I love that. He is not your average dirty mechanic he is a car lover and business man. The receptionist is a treasure, wonderful on the phone. I took a project car there this year (and with no budget) asked Mike to fix what it NEEDED to be a summer cruise. He did just that. They did not nickle and dime me for everything that COULD have been done. I know this because the vehicle now requires more repair that he could have wacked me for when I first took it in. I tried multiple approved testing locations today to get an emission test. This shop was one of the only places actually doing them. They were quick and got started even though I had arrived early. I also asked about an unrelated issue. They offered to take a look and fixed my problem the same morning. While I was waiting, the owner and employees were all very friendly and kind, showing me the issues, offering me a chair and some hot coffee. Unfortunately this is NOT the Toms Auto I am used to going to as a child with my Mom or as an early adult. I was told my car would be done Saturday I called several times. NO communication at all the new owner Mike said in a few hours the piece was the wrong piece around 7pm that night still no car I had to call them was promised a my car by 2pm Sun. Around 5pm I call no answer he calls from his personal phone saying Hey u called when I asked for Tom Mike stated since I was rude I can get my car Monday morning. Mind you I need my car Im a frontline worker at at St Francis I only have limited hours to get things done in this high demand due to Covid and nursing staff being needed. He showed his egotistic attitude when trying to punish me by making me wait yet another day all because I said Tom would've at least called me with any news or inconvenience instead of leaving me in the dark when it came to my car. His excuse was he had a family event to go to and I should be happy they worked on it over the weekend Bashing Tom saying he would have Never done that. Well in reality Tom would have never been so unprofessional. I could've went elsewhere and when I did come this morning when they opened he greeted me with an "Oh so you came?" Like seriously how about greeting me with a discount since my car was held hostage all he did was knock off the price of the oil change I was to get because he said they didn't do it. Its disgusting how he is representing Toms business his attitude is terrible that is not the same shop all of us have know to love throughout the years. read more

We took our car there before we bought it for a used car inspection. They charged us around $40, said the car needed new tires but was otherwise the cat was in great shape. So we bought it. On the way home from Milwaukee to Madison, the car started to make scary noises and shaking. When we looked at the front tire, one of the lug nuts (the things that attach the wheel to the rest of the car) was missing. We took it to a shop and found out just all the lug nuts were loose on all the wheels. The front driver wheel was especially bad and because it was so loose, the rim and lug nuts and studs had to be replaced. We also found out that both axel boots were cracked and had to be replaced. When we called Tom, he said they never took the wheels off, so it wasn't his problem. Then when we tried to call back, he dodged our calls for a week. How can you inspect a car, the brakes, the axels and wheel bearings and etc without removing the wheels? What a ripoff. And we're out $800. Thanks for nothing, jerks. read more

Now I moved more than 20 miles away , I still come to Tom's Auto. Because , nowadays it is very hard to find an honest auto shop no matter where are you. Many auto repair I experienced are 95% cheaters , dishonest. They want to get the most money out of your pocket. Tom's Auto is different .... a lot different. He will try to save you money. .... How many auto repair shop let you bring your own oil for oil change ..??? .... How many auto repair allow you to bring your own spark plugs ...??? Tom's Auto take care ALL OF MY CAR , TRUCK and VAN. The last time I bring my van to repair my exhaust pipe just 2 months ago. The well known exhaust expert shop want $540 + labor to fix my pipe total more than $700. I ran to Tom's Auto leave my van there , after an hours Tom call me ... .. and tell me my exhaust pipe really bad and he can cut the bad section out. Then put in new flexible pipe and cost me $195 ....!!!! ... save me more than $500. How many auto repair shop can do that ...???? I trust Tom for many years , I can leave my vehicle with him..... ..... and he can fix it right with as less money as possible. No others auto repair shop can do that ... !!!! ....
