I was replacing the battery in a Lexus for my friend's mom. It was getting too old to hold a charge. I figured the best way to do this right was to just go there and remove the old battery right there in their parking lot so I could give them the core for the discount & get the new battery paid for & installed straight away. I had called in advance (pardon the pun) & they had four different batteries that would work so I knew they would have at least something in stock that my friend's mom would be OK with, & had her drive me up there where I did everything just as I described. After I was done, the car still wouldn't start and I had to jump it to get there in the first place. It was getting dark and cold and I was working outside with my rheumatoid arthritis beginning to act up. I stayed calm, but I went back inside rather upset and told them what was going on. I've changed about 25 batteries and that's just in the last five years so I know what I'm doing. The guy who sold it to me was surprised and he sent one of the girls out with a tester to check it. I pulled it from the car and she checked it and it was practically dead. Brand new off the shelf she said come on back and I'll give you a new one and that's what they did and it worked fine. We were all surprised but I and my friends, mom and the two employees were happy that it worked out. They apologized and I told them what I'm going to tell all of you. Sometimes things happen for no explainable reason I'm 62 and I never bought a battery off the shelf that didn't work when I got home but they took care of me and they let me do this right in the parking lot, they don't particularly like that and they don't have to let you do it so next time you need some auto parts, go there, and just don't leave any garbage in their lot after you put your new wipers, battery, headlights, etc. in your car. I never leave reviews but now I see the value in them so I'm gonna start doing it more often. Thank you to the employees at the Route nine store. You guys are good people. read more
