Ensure you know exactly what you need because the return policy is not customer friendly. Bought a ball hitch with receiver. Took it home and slid it into my vehicles receiver port to realize it would not work. I.e. tire carrier to Jeep will not close. So, I would need a step down receiver. Took the item back the very next day. My wife took it into the store for return and she was told it could not be refunded because it was used. Whether it was the employee or the companies hard policy it's the situation that has allowed Amazon (customer oriented) and other like companies to dominate while specialty (specific retail) companies wonder why they are not growing, loosing market share... Guess In the future I'll wait for my overnight delivery or head to wal-mart for such purchases. read more

on what we would consider to be a very cold day in Middleton Tennessee. I went to advance auto parts to get a battery. However, the battery post were a different diameter than the specifications for the automobile. When I attempted to return the battery, I was informed that advanced auto had a policy, however Mr. Joseph Troop the general manager of store 6187 step forward and helped me like a true professional. He said he was going to contact #NathanC, to to see if there was anything that could possibly be done about it, and when Mr. Troop returned, he resolved the issue without any problems in the most professional manner, even though I had to go to another parts store to get what I needed. Be prepared to wait while they are on the phone with customers, and be interrupted when it's finally your turn by more time on the phone again. I purchased a part in their store that failed & needed exchanged. They did not have it in stock, but said they would order it & have it there the next day. 2 days later, they said they ordered it but it never came in & it was difficult because I did not purchase it from their location (I did). Even though they looked up my number for the purchase when I attempted the first exchange, he would not look it up again & insisted I did not purchase from their store - why that mattered, I have zero idea. I have a receipt that states it was their store. He did tell me he could try to order another one - or I could drive across town to their other location as they had one in stock. After driving over there, the guy handed me the replacement & was laughing when he said the first location called back to say they actually found it. Never called me to let me know. There is no excuse for customer service this bad. There are plenty of better options in town for future needs. read more

Went to this location to buy some replacement wiper blades. The guy that checked me out came out and replaced the blades for me with the new ones I bought. It was very nice of him and I didn't even have to ask him. read more

I have had the worst experience possible with this place and the district managers, which is sad because I come from a family of mechanics that use this business often. The employees at this location weren't doing their job and they are very rude. I called the district manager to get some answers on why a product couldn't be returned and he didn't have an explanation as to why they couldn't return it and he apologized for the service I had received. He promised that I would be taken care of in whole, but in the end (a month later) I had to drive 15 miles to another location for it to finally be returned, and nothing more was done for the inconvenience. Once I arrived at the location, they didn't know why I wasn't taken care of from the beginning because it was an easy and acceptable return. I gave this location (South Church) 3 chances before I finally decided to never use this location, and this experience was the last straw. The employees are very rude and not knowledgable of their products. They have completely lost any further business from me, my family, and my friends because the employees and managers didn't help me accomplish anything and, in the end, gave me the "run around"; wasting a lot of my time and money, and resulting in many headaches in having to work this problem out. I didn't want anything but to return the defected product, but I probably should have went to AutoZone, as I will in the future. And lastly, this company needs to change their Mission Statement, because as of now it is far from true stating,"It is the Mission of Advance Auto Parts to provide personal vehicle owners and enthusiasts with the vehicle related products and knowledge that fulfill their wants and needs at the right price.
