When entering an auto parts store, patrons immediately place themselves in one of two categories:…read morethe guy who goes straight to the counter for help, or the guy who just goes to locate an item in an isle. I am the second guy. I like to go grab whatever part I need, utilizing the part-look up directory if necessary. I am also a girl. The first offer for help was appropriate; I declined politely. But as soon as i said no, the associate walked over from behind the counter anyway and proceeded to try to locate my item FOR me. I reiterated that I knew exactly what I was doing. Less surprising, he offered to help me change the wiper blade for me. No. I guess I'm only really annoyed by the tact of his second attempt to 'help' me. If I were a man, I don't think he would have blatantly disregarded my saying that I didn't want help. Unintentional sexism is still sexism.

Of the two O'Reilly Auto Parts stores on Broad St... this is the one you do not go to. I've been a…read morelongtime O'Reilly's customer... I typically shop between them, Advance, and AutoZone (maybe Napa in a pinch). Generally the prices at O'Reilly's are more competitive and they almost always have the parts I need, which can sometimes be for vehicles that aren't super popular. I love working on vehicles and would rate my mechanical aptitude as intermediate. My latest auto need was for a stupid simple battery change... the battery on one of my vehicles had been slowly going out over the last few months and the day finally arrived that I needed a new one. What is usually an in-out experience with a tech at the store kindly swapping the battery out for you turned into anything but ideal. As soon as I walked in I was 'greeted' by a guy behind the counter, but he spoke so softly and was looking at his computer screen the whole time, I didn't really know if he was talking to me or to the other half dozen employees up towards the front of the store. I came up and expressed my need, asked him to run a battery test on it real quick to verify voltage (I didn't have access to my multimeter to do it myself like I usually would). Test showed the voltage was too low - battery purchase need confirmed. While up at the front talking with the associate, all of the other employees were basically screwing around, using pretty foul language, and just all-around pretty unprofessional. I thought, man, I wonder where the manager is, I bet he wouldn't be happy. And then poof, out comes the shift manager, and he's right in the mix participating with them! I should have just left at this point! I asked the tech if he'd be able to help me switch it out real quick, and his response was, "No I don't think so.. it's too cold outside. Basically if it takes more than 10 min or so I'm not going to." I'm pretty sure I was speechless at this point. You work at an AUTO PARTS store, not a cosmetics store.. MAN up! At this point I should have left and gave a competitor my business but for some strange reason, I didn't. I paid for my battery, took it out to my car, which at this point wouldn't turn over, so I needed a JUMP. Amazingly, the guy was happy to give me a jump so I could leave, sure hope he didn't get frost bite. Got back and did the 3-minute job myself.. seriously.. two bolts for the bracket, one nut each for the terminal... battery out... in, reverse order. Done. So now I needed to get my core refund of about $20 since they didn't swap it out at the shop.. so I had to spend more time and money and went to a DIFFERENT O'Reilly's and got the treatment and customer service that O'Reilly's is known for. Do yourself a favor and PASS on this store!!!

The company gave me a realistic timeline. When I dropped the vehicle, they gave an estimate of when it would be done. In my case, it was the same day. THANKS! I have a Jeep and after 9 years, the windshield developed a crack. I went to LG and they quickly replaced it. A week later, and a rock on the interstate left a star shaped crack. I was thinking it was my bad luck, but then it happened two more times. A month after getting the windshield, a huge crack started down the center. I called LG and was told that Jeep's are just hard on windshields, which I imagine is true, but then she told me that this happens all the time and some people have said that another, tougher, brand of glass works better. I ran a ballpoint pen down the crack, as instructed, and noticed no indication that the crack was caused by a strike. This would mean it would be covered under warranty. LG sent out an installer who said it was caused by a strike, even though there was no proof by their own standard. They offered to replace it again for a slightly lower cost. I told them I couldn't afford to have a new windshield installed EVERY month for $300. This is the nicest shop I'll never use again. In short, my windshield last for NINE YEARS and then was replaced by Lawrence Glass and lasted ONE MONTH. Very disappointing.

My salesman came up quick and soon I had chosen my car pending the numbers. FIVE HOURS LATER.... For some reason the deal is almost done and I had already ran home to get the cash.... (I called to confirm that I was headed back with cash).... AND, the most important part, I had very specific questions for my salesman. Did the engine start/stop upon stopping? If so can it be disabled within the car now? Answer: A solid yes.... The rest were rebate and financial questions. Well, that was not the truth. I had to buy a $50 engine start/stop eliminator. Not the end of the world but this salesman has been with Kia for @7 years. So basically it was a lie. 2 days after the deal was done they called and needed me to drive in (almost an hour each way) and get the title. Hyundai signed off when I bought the lease out 3 years ago. But it wasn't in MY name. They said it's $14 at the local clerks office. It was $130 due to fees(not tax). 4 extra trips to the dealership and $180 out of pocket. As far as I'm concerned the dealership owes me $200. I'm not holding my breath on ever seeing this but until then I'll make sure anyone I know looking for a car stays clear. My reviews see @15 MILLION views a month so this will help also. This isn't rocket science.... No idea why some dealers are such liars. I've added limo tint all around, engine start/stop eliminator and ALL badges removed. Kia: Don't embarrass yourself by saying something apologetic. Make it right.
