I think I found a gem. It's a small shop, and I actually was able to talk with the owner. He seem to know what he was talking about, but never got too technical. That's what the mechanic are for. Anyways, I reached out to them via Yelp and scheduled an appointment. I was weary of auto shops. They tend to sell all kinds of services, but not this place. They asked what was wrong with my van. Based on my complaint/issue, they diagnosed the problem. After about 30 minutes, the mechanic came and talked to me and asked more questions. From what I've gathered cars are complicated, the mechanic needed more information before he was able to pinpoint the root cause of my issue. They fixed it. After taking delivery, I validated by driving for an hour or 50 miles. The codes never came back! I can pass my emissions test now. I will say this with confidence: They have earned my business! Review DO NOT GET ANY WORK DONE AT THIS PLACE. Let me be as direct and factual as possible. Here is why they are not a good business. - They were quick to take my nearly $1200 for an AC repair, but when it was finished, nothing had changed. Same exact problem. They were not excited to continue looking at my vehicle. Next is why: - They told me it could be up to two weeks before they could look at the problem, and I would need to leave the vehicle there in case something changed. I explained that this vehicle was how I made a living and could not afford to do that. - I asked, and tried to reason with them about this. Matt at the counter basically said he didn't care and everyone gets treated the same. Leave it or it won't get looked at. - I tried to work out a future date that I could schedule the work to be done to make right what they did not fix, and was promptly told again that they would NOT do that under any circumstances. Matt followed this up by saying a business next to him spends over $100k a year with them and they have to wait, why shouldn't I? - I further pushed to emphasize that I didn't have other vehicles to use like them and could we please schedule a time to fix what I paid for. Matt's response was "if you wanted to schedule when work gets done then you should have picked a large shop that does that. Here you just get in line and wait. - None of this was expressed to me initially and they had no problem taking my vehicle right away, but now that it isn't resolved, they will get to it whenever they can. - I even called ahead when I found the issue wasn't fixed and thought I set up an 'appointment' for Friday since I was told to bring it in Friday morning and leave it. The vehicle sat there all day and wasn't touched. That's when I got the 'we don't work weekends, but you'll need to leave it and maybe we look at it next week. Completely inconsiderate and disregard for their customers. So save yourself the frustration and a huge headache. Avoid these people at all costs. They do NOT have your best interest in mind and are not interested in any follow up work that's not a quick fix. They worked on replacing the engine and transmission mounts of my 2006 Mercedees E500. The guys are decent, professional and easy to deal with. The price was also right. The horrible vibration when starting the engine disappeared completely. Their shop is also pretty clean and accessible. And for your peace of mind, they have a generous warranty. They fixed my car for which I am grateful. I had the Yelp app in my hand which offered a 10% discount on repair at their shop, but they said they didn't know anything about it and didn't honor it. He said he gave me a 10% new customer discount anyway, but that was never mentioned before that time and it didn't show on the receipt. Maybe they did put it in there but I couldn't tell. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and go back once more if I need more repair work done, and see how it goes. read more

As a young girl, going into car repair shops is so intimidating. I drive a german car, so I have been in about 10 different ones in the past 3 years. Recently moving to TN from FL, I had to bring my car to get a service. Christian, Holly, and the other man who's name I didn't get, were all so kind. They explained everything to me, offered to stay after close just to make sure I could get my car, and treated me like a valued customer. My car was starting to show some wear and tear...200+k miles can do that! Called and made a next day appointment with Holly. She was so helpful and let me know the cost for the diagnostic test (waaay less than the dealership). I showed up and she got me right in. The owner, Eric, came over and let me know the results, making sure I knew exactly what they recommended and the breakdown of costs. While I waited in their very clean socially distanced waiting area, I also witnessed them going the extra mile for a woman who needed her car sooner than they initially had told her. They were respectful and compassionate and it clearly put her at ease. Even with being down one technician for the day, and non stop calls, Holly and Eric greeted everyone with kindness and a smile. Great place in every facet. Professional, courteous, very communicative and will take time to address all your concerns and questions. My daughter's VW GTI totally shut down, She's a student at MTSU, 1800 miles from home. I know cars, rebuilt a few engines in my time and fix our cars today, if necessary. I was concerned about getting ripped off or marginal work, but Murfreesboro Auto Repair came highly recommended from multiple sources. I spoke with Temmerlin and he eased my concerns. Turns out he's a certified VW/Audi mechanic and a fan of VW's. Spoke knowledgeably about the problem and was, upon inspection, what we thought- jumped timing, bent valves. Did internal damage to the valve drive train. Everything he told me was legit and checked out. I knew the repair would be pricey, especially to do it correctly. Temmerlin kept it contact throughout every phase, tear down and inspection and machine shop valve work. Reassembled with OE VW parts and did it right. I asked him to drive it a bit before he returned it to my daughter to ensure that there were no bugs or repair issues. He took it home for the weekend and drove it for a good time to test. Everything is great! I wasn't going to write a review until my daughter put 500 miles on it after she picked it up. She now has 800 miles and the GTI runs perfect, no drips or leaks-just awesome. Temmerlin noticed that hew AC wasn't as cold as it should be, my daughter didn't notice or complain. He threw in a freon recharge for us and now it really blows cold. My daughter depends on her car for school and work. Temmerlin was able to get her in a loaner for 7 days, it was a big help. It was a 5K repair which is expensive, but reasonable for that job. At least 30% less than a dealer and they still used VW replacement parts. Replaced all associated parts (spark plugs, etc.) and fluids. It was done right, probably better than the dealer. I hope we don't have to visit Temmerlin again, other than to say "Hi", but if she needs anything in the future, Murfreesboro Auto Repair will be our only choice. Great service when we were at their mercy! Our daughter's '97 Camry broke down and we had it towed to Murfreesboro Auto Repair. We live about three hours away and didn't know any repair shops in the area. We chose MAR because they are AAA affiliated. We left the car with them and went to get some lunch. We returned in about an hour and they had checked the car and told us it would need a new engine. We had never been faced with this problem and since it was an old car it was unlikely we would replace the engine. But it means a lot to our daughter so Eric was willing to get some quotes for us. He also explained how he could dispose of the car for us so we would not have to take it back to our hometown. He was willing to do this although the chances of us getting it repaired were really slim. We sincerely appreciated his help. The entire staff was courteous, friendly and professional. Although we did not have any work done on the car, if ever need work on a vehicle in that area, I'll go there without hesitation. read more

My second visit to Murfreesboro Auto Repair. Worked with Christian both times, he is excellent! It took a while to find a trusted Murfreesboro mechanic without having to go to the expensive dealership for my Camry. I find their pricing to be on par with other mechanics (I called my previous mechanic where I grew up in MS to check) but their warranty and customer service (no pressure and very informative on their parts and process) won me over. Had my breaks done, transmission flushed, tire rotations, and oil changes done there. Will go back at 200k for new spark plugs when due for replacement. Very happy with their service. read more

I was in town on vacation and the A/C in my car started having issues blowing. The air was cold but would just stop blowing. I called in the evening to get an estimate for a diagnostic appointment. The gal I spoke with was genuinely nice and seemed very knowledgeable. I took my car in the next morning and drop off was a breeze. Knowing that I was from out of town with two small children in tow, they offered a loaner car so we didn't have to entertain the kids in their shop all day. We were able to go about our plans as usual. This was an AMAZING bonus. They ran the diagnostics, ordered the part, repaired my A/C and had my vehicle back to me by the end of the day at a fair price. I highly recommend this shop!! Love to Bama! read more

Brought my car in here for a diagnostic check. Was charged for two separate diagnostic checks for the same visit because they were in "different places" okay whatever not the biggest deal. Well when it came back as the battery being bad I went and got my own battery brought it too them an he said oh well I'll just install it for ya an still charge you the $90 diagnostic. Ohh gee thanks must of been real hard to tighten two terminals. Then was still charged for the other $90 diagnostic when no real answer was given. Just a print out of server things it "could be". Customer service wise they are really nice to you. But be careful just because it sounds good doesn't mean it is. Just go somewhere else. Please!!! read more

We had our car towed here with AAA when our transmission went out. The owner really went out of his way and personally helped me when I had to pay for an expensive new transmission. I also ended up having a flat tire and he drove to a tire place to get me a new one to get me out of the shop as soon as possible. I highly recommend this place and for extra special customer service from the owner himself. As an extra they have a very sweet dog in the waiting room that adds a fun and nice touch! read more

I was advised to use this auto shop by my AAA driver. Diagnosed my car with a bad transmission when it only had 115k on it. Said they could get me a transmission with 100k and a 30 day guarantee for around 5 grand. Took this car to another mechanic. $1200 later and a new torque converter and I'm still on the road. I know that everyone makes mistakes but it would have been a costly mistake to trust them with this diagnosis and repair. Live and learn. read more

Got a $100 quote for a "spark plug fix" (even though I had them replaced early that year. Ended up paying it. 2 weeks later car kept misfiring so I took it again and they charge me $1,000 for something "they must have missed" before. Granted I never had any car troubles before them. $1,100 down the drain and they are suggesting I replace the engine. Stay away from these ignorant people. Use Ford of Newton. I had read the reviews recently about the Murfreesboro Auto Repair shop awhile back and they came in handy on Friday when my car stopped and would not start. So I had it towed to this shop. Before I went, I called to let them know I was waiting on AAA tow truck to pick me up and we would be there shortly. I believe I spoke with Crystal who was caring and concerned and asked if I was alright and would be waiting for my arrival. They assured me they would let me know fairly quickly what was wrong with my car. In the mean time, when I got stuck, I just happened to be on my lunch break. So, there I was stranded..but not really.. i asked about a loaner vehicle (because I read that on their webpage) and was given one. I asked Crystal, did she think I might get the car back before closing ,she stated, I would know what was wrong with the car, but plan on keeping the loaner over the weekend. WOW!!! tell me, what auto shop have you ever been to that gave you a loaner car to use until your car was finished being repaired?!?!? Not a family owed business, maybe an expensive car dealership, but not your hard working family owed company. I was able to return back to work, take my daughter to her job that night, go to work on Saturday and run errands on Sunday. I got a call Monday morning from Eric, who explained everything that was done in layman terms to me, price never wavered and my car was all ready to be picked up. Did I mention, you also get a 4 year/48,000 mile wty and 10% AAA discount.. HOT DAMN!!! what more could I ask for. Went there for a specific problem. You would think that means they will fix the problem the FIRST time but no, went back after paying close to $700 to fix what they TOLD ME was the PROBLEM. SAME problem is STILL occurring and their trying to say its "different parts." Different parts to the same problem they should have fixed to begin with??? Went to see a other car repair shop and even THEY told me that i was ripped off. $700 for parts and labor that for sure wasnt worth that much AND problem still isnt fixed. Surprised by how quick people are to take advantage of you when you're in a crisis. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Please don't waste your time and money. read more
