Autozone to the rescue once again…read more Thanks to Covid, I was having difficulties in trying to locate 2 windshield wipers. Luckily these guys had just what I needed. Tips/Highlight: * Use their website ahead of time to search for parts and store inventory on hand. Trust me, this will save you time and frustration. * Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They will take the time to verify what you need and they helped me with the replacing my windshield wipers and showing me how to do it on my own. **Just be careful not to over shot the store. It is right behind the McDonalds at the light.

I'm not usually the naysayer when it comes to reviews. I'm a fierce optimist who tends to lean…read moretoward positive reviews. However, my own recent visit here kind of left me feeling "Meh." I stopped in because my radio had gone out along with my ability to charge my phone. I'd had a handful of people suggest getting my fuses checked as everything else electrical seemed fine. While I can obviously accept there are limits to how much "service" a retail outlet can offer, it seems weird to me that a place that replaces batteries, checks engine lights, replaces windshield wipers and offers more hands-on services makes a point of saying they can't assist with testing a fuse. Instead, this wheelchair using driver had to climb out of my wheelchair, lean over, and try to manipulate the ridiculously fine tester that they'd sold me. Fortunately, someone drove by and offered a bit of assistance as my hands just aren't made for that kind of fine motor skill work. To their credit, I will say they at least looked and could tell which fuse kit/tester I needed. So, hey, that's a plus. I don't know. I'd always heard high praise for AutoZone's helpfulness. Personally, it felt like more of a "can't do" than a "can do." Awful? Nope. The employee was friendly and did at least, I think, sell me the correct kit (hard to tell as the problem was not solved). Again, I'd say this was more of a "meh" experience than a bad one, however, I can easily say I won't be back.

THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE!!!…read more 1.5 years ago I bought a Ford Transit Connect (small) from Duane Tillman at at the 40+ year Tillman Van business on W. 16th St. Indy. I asked him for an electric hookup and hitch to be added to my purchase. He had his son's Greenwood Tillman's Van & Truck business make changes prior to my purchase and added only a few hundred dollars to the price. Duane Tillman gave me a very fair deal and was a pleasure to deal with. I traded the small van for a full size Ford Transit van and had just moved to Greenwood. I asked Tillman's Van & Truck to add the same features which they did at a very reasonable price and scheduled. Since then I had an Indy audio business install an inverter and upgraded audio unknowing that they were not qualified to make changes. After 2 months of repeated efforts to fix what they'd messed up, they ghosted me ... haven't heard from them since but have left reviews on their web & Facebook pages... Even though Tillman's Van & Truck doesn't claim to install audio equipment, they were able to replace and fix the inverter breakdown. Aaron, a salesperson was very knowledgable in what was involved electronically in making the improvements. Sam, the tech who did the work was very much on top of what was needed and knew when to draw the line on getting involved in the audio part. It was very tough to figure out and undo the incorrect changes involving new switches and audio handling box that were now a part of the my 2020 Ford electronics. After getting the inverter straightened out and with their recommendation, I took my van to Audio Source on S.. 31 to make the final audio tweeks and the inverter/audio system now does a champion job. It had been since late Feb/early March that I've struggled with the poor installation done by the Indy mobil install business. In all my trips to Tillman's Van & Truck, I had a chance to talk with and do some ordering with most of the sales staff. I'm sure Duane would be very proud of the way my needs were met.

Absolutely the best! Will was fast, the price was more than fair, and he actually saved us from…read moredoing a more expensive repair! We had been told by a couple people that my son's car needed a new starter - Will easily identified a battery terminal issue after a quick diagnostic. Within a couple minutes, Will knew what the issue was, and we were able to go down to the auto parts store and purchase everything we needed for under $20. He was able to get the car running in less than an hour and went above and beyond to make modifications to one part I bought (battery bracket) because the store didn't have the exact type we needed. Will's work was pristine. I cannot say enough about how great of an experience this was. He is also very kind and pleasant! Additionally, I would like to note that he performed all repairs that were requested, he arrived within 25 minutes of my call, on a Sunday, in the snow, and had everything done within an hour (part of this hour was him waiting on my trip to the auto parts store!). This will be the only person I call for any mechanic needs. I've shared his contact info with my family and recommend him to everyone! I've dealt with several mobile mechanics in the Indy area and can say Will is obviously and by far the most knowledgeable, honest, and gets straight to the resolution of the issue. Thank you so much, I feel better knowing my son's car is working -- and that he can call you if he runs into any other problems. :)

A week ago, I brought my car in during the recent heat wave to have the A/C compressor clutch…read morereplaced. My A/C was still blowing cold--the clutch was just squealing, and I couldn't stand the noise anymore. I supplied the replacement part myself, and after giving them my vehicle's year, make, model, and engine information, I was quoted $520 for the installation and refrigerant recharge. I agreed to the price and dropped the car off. The next day, they called and said there would be an additional charge because they "weren't aware" of the type of refrigerant my car uses. This was frustrating because they had all of my vehicle information before I even brought it in. Suddenly, the new price was $750. I told them I needed some time to think about it and would call them back. About 5-10 minutes later, they called again and said the compressor clutch bolt was seized and that I would need an entirely new compressor. My options were either to replace the compressor or have them reinstall my old one. No pricing was discussed during this call, so I told them to just put my original compressor back on. A few hours later, I called to see if my car was ready, and they acted like it had been sitting there waiting for me. Then they told me the bill was $390. They eventually agreed to $300 cash, but here's the problem: my A/C worked when I brought the car in, and now it doesn't work at all because they evacuated the refrigerant and never recharged it. I understand to an extent paying for labor. But charging me $300 after leaving my car in worse condition than when I dropped it off is unacceptable. Their labor rate is $130 per hour, and the timeline of the phone calls doesn't seem to support three hours of labor. A little understanding, detailed communication, & customer service would have gone a long way. Instead, they earned $300, a one-star review, and lost a repeat customer.
