Overall I have had a pleasant experience at this store. The staff are generally friendly and helpful in helping me find what I need. But, I did have one experience that could have lead me to spend a lot of money if did not have a basic understanding of cars. It made me question the knowledge of some of the staff. My car was having trouble starting and I suspected it was the battery. I jumped it and took it here to get the battery tested to confirm my suspicions and buy one there if needed. I had a middle-aged, white, bald gentleman do the battery test for me. He asked me to turn my car on, but I know the test is supposed to be done when the car is off. I asked "aren't you supposed to test it with the car off?", to which he sternly said no and dismissed me. I proceeded to turn my car on because I did not feel like starting a debate. He told me the battery was fine, which I did not believe. He told me it might be the alternator that needs to be replaced, which would cost more than a new battery. Conveniently he directed my to a mechanic that is a friend of the employees there who happened to be there that day. Had i followed his advice to see a mechanic this could have also cost me more as I have often experienced mechanics convince me into spending more money on other "problems" they find, to only later find out I did not need to spend that much money. Regardless, I politely took his information but went with my gut and came back a different day to buy the battery. Took it home and had Geico come install it, because I trusted them more, and turned out that was the issue as I suspected. A new battery only cost me 150. Had I not had knowledge of how battery tests work and trusted the advanced auto parts employee to go get a new alternator it could have cost me upwards of $250. I am weary of this specific location now. read more
