Unable to reach Richard's by phone, I drove there first thing the next morning to beg and plead for help. Not only were Richard and RJ welcoming to a walk-in, RJ promptly tended to the key fobs in between customer check-ins. This garage is easily the best the country. I have spent the last 20 years in the military moving around and maintaining used vehicles. We lived in Gainesville for 2 and half years and bought a second Volvo just so I could have both cars maintained there. While I was deployed overseas they took care of my wife's car and made her a priority. We moved to NH a few years ago and we have yet to find a garage I trust as much as Richard and his sons. They have even helped me over the phone several times and saved me countless hundreds if not thousands of dollars. In short, they are the single best, most trust worthy, knowledgable, fair priced garage I have ever experienced. I took my 1989 240 to Richard because my grandpa takes his Volvos to Richard.In my experience, and my grandfather's, Richard and his boys (it's a family shop) have always been honest and fair.They point out and explain what's going on, they don't just hand you a paper like many big name places do.Even when I could tell things were crazy and swamped, they were always friendly, never rude.I never felt pushed to make a repair, and always felt informed about my car. Took our S40 to a Volvo dealer to see if they could repair the A/C. They quoted almost $3,000. To fix it and claimed almost every major part had to be replaced. Picked it up and took it to Richard's and they fixed it for just under $800, including replacement of the compressor!! Will always take our car to Richard's first from now on!! read more

I have been taking my Volvo to Richard and his sons for over 4 years now. They only work on Volvo's there and are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to what is the best for my vehicle at the time I take it in. They are very reasonable with their prices and the turn around time is pretty quick. The longest I have ever left my car there is two days! They are always so very nice and even answer questions over the phone if you have concerns or specific questions regarding your car. On the outside Richard might seem like the guy to go to and I thought the same thing until two visits to his shop. First off, he cherry picks the jobs that he wants to do. Yeah! I'm not kidding. I gave him a list of stuff to do and he picked what he felt like doing. He also, starts doing the work before giving you an estimation! What mechanic does that!? Also, The first time I went in I had a full inspection done on the vehicle and he said that everything looks good and my volvo only needed a few repairs. Well I knew that something was wrong, so I brought my car to another mechanic and it turns out that I had no back brake pads and my rotors, calipers, and back tires had to be replaced. The tires had tread, but were ready to explode from the inside thanks to there being no brake pads and rusty calipers. Thanks for putting my life in danger Richard! And to put the icing on the cake; after my second visit to his shop my serpentine belt light went on. I later found out that it was cracked. Quite ironic that it was fine before my visit, but not after. Last time I went into his shop he said to me that he was getting too old for this and he's burnt out. I took it as a joke at the time, but obviously there is truth to his words. He just doesn't care anymore! I'm never going to his shop again! read more

It can be a little wait for an appointment...but I think that's just a testament to how good they are that so many Volvo owners go to them! The best service! I went to Richard's for 7 years while I was in Gainesville and wish I could have taken them with me back to south florida.

These guys never cease to impress. Their skill, pricing, professionalism, efficiency, and flexibility are second to none. I've had my C70 worked on with them once before and will be taking it back every other time, really they're that good. I'v had to have it towed to them this time because while driving my instrument panel lit up with every warning available and then stalled. I've had this happen in my previous car (Mitsubishi Eclipse) and it was the timing belt, an extremely costly repair even for that one so I feared the worst. They were able to take a look at it and found it was actually my alternator belt and fixed it same-day (awesome) for less than $100. They could have easily claimed it was the timing belt and I would have been none the wiser but that's not who they are. They also arranged for me to be able to pick it up after-hours since I couldn't make it in time. I'm ecstatic. I give them 20 out of five stars, they're a real class act. read more

Richard is THE man. I love this guy. His business knows what's up. They don't charge stupid fees to check what's wrong with your car or to turn off the service light. And they'll even take you with them when inspecting your car if you'd like so you can see exactly whats going on. It's a very educational experience. I must also add that they are so dang honest. They never try to sell you on things you don't need. And, they do a great job. I brought my car in and it needed a new spark plug. I agree with CG. Richard and sons are amazing. They've been taking care of my 1994 Volvo for the last 15 years - I'd trust no one else! It was hard to get another make car because I knew he wouldn't be the mechanic for it (but with mine having 260,000+ miles, it was time).
