I just found out that there was a connection issue between my system and ADT that apparently has been going on for the past 5 months! Although i am paying for monitoring services i was just made aware of the problem. When i talk to customer service they just say that its in the terms of the contract that im responsible for testing it so they cant do anything. Its absolutely infuriating because if something had happened i have been paying for ADT to monitor and notify the police/ fire department but they wouldn't have because of the connection issue. It should not have taken that long to realize there was a problem! Needless to say I cancelled my contract with them. read more

We've had a security system in our house for 42 years, and ADT is our fourth security company. Their system was installed five years ago, employing our existing switches and wiring, with new controllers. It's been very satisfactory. We have had alarms a few times over the past five years, and ADT has always handled them well, promptly calling us for instructions, and doing exactly as we advised. I wouldn't dream of switching to another company now. read more

I have had the worst experience with ADT, its equipment and service. First I was told that there would only be a $99 charge for installation with no extra hidden fees and $36.99 monthly. Once everything was installed, I was told I had to pay an additional $157 plus tax! I decided that I wanted the Pulse app to control my security system whenever I'm away from my home and the charge was then $54.99 monthly! As soon as the tech leaves my house, the app is not working and giving me error messages! I called to cancel, faxed in a cancellation notice...no one contacted me for a few days....I had to contact them to come pick up the equipment! A different tech comes out today and offered a few incentives for me to stay with the company. I made sure everything worked before he left and decided to take him up on his offer to make things right. It is now a few hours later and there is a problem with the equipment again! I set the alarm from the Pulse app and the panel says something different! I called to tell them I would just like to cancel completely and terminate the services once and for all! A customer service rep told me that I could not cancel and would be charged 75% of the agreement for cancelling! That's definitely isn't a fair charge! I don't feel like I owe them anything but this review and I'm owed a full refund! They have given me nothing but LIES and FAULTY EQUIPMENT that doesn't work for the safety of my family! To pay anything for the service that DOES NOT WORK is a SCAM! Their advertising is very misleading about cost and that is an unprofessional way to conduct a business especially when you call yourself providing a service that is suppose to protect homes and businesses!! I hope anyone who reads this review decide against using ADT to protect their home. read more

Terrible system! The alarm goes off for random reasons ALL THE TIME! The ADT service will call the police right away. The system is a menace! read more

They are always late for service appointments, which reflects poor management and work ethic. They also kept screwing up my bill for months and I'd have to spend half an hour on the phone with them to fix it, only to learn it had not been fixed when they would call for additional payment. The agents are nice, but being nice is only one component - you have to be able to deliver. read more

The reason I rated ADT as one star is because there is nothing lower! To say that my experience with ADT corporate and two of its authorized deales in the DC metropolitan areas namely "Safe Streets" and "Save Haven" was the worst experience in my life is actually an understatement. For two months my order was opened and cancelled more than 4 times because it turns out that ADT and its dealers actually compete against each other!! I finally gave up and went with a different security company. I will not recommend ADT to any of my friends or family. read more

The worst. After 5 years they are holding me to a 30 day notice even though they jack my rates without 30 day notice. AWFUL

Do NOT get this service. they can only be described as crooks which is really sad since they are suppose to be home security! i wouldn't trust them with my home security if my life depended on it. i called to set up installation specifically explaining my unique situation (over 85 lbs dogs) I was told that they had a special free installation and free equipment and $9 off the monthly fee of $44.99. I received a confirmation email stating this, I was told the only out of pocket expense I needed to pay the installers was $35.99 first month (remember they gave me a $9 a month discount). The installers arrive and start quoting outrageous prices like $80 per window for a window sensor and $325 for a keypad. I told them i was not quoted that when I called to schedule service. they made a few phone calls and said their manager was on the phone and has no knowledge of the special promotions I was offered. Well luckily I had the confirmation email!! I showed it to them and they said they could not honor it! They said the corporate office should not have given me that promotion. When I told them to cancel everything, they kept insisting I purchase the service for my peace of mind. Finally I told them NO and get out of my house before I let the dogs back in the house on them (I had put my dogs in the backyard because of the vicious barking they did when the installers knocked on the door). Clearly the dogs sensed ADT installers are snakes and con artists and I should not have let them in the house. They have never been that aggressive when others knock at the door. What was even more interesting was although the ADT truck drove off, they literally came back and parked across the street in a store parking lot, got out of their car and looked over at my dogs in the backyard. This company is way too shady. Do yourself a favor and don't deal with them. There are plenty other companies! When they left I called another company and ended up getting exactly what I was quoted on the phone. read more

Just don't get a security system with ADT. They put me in a three year contract. If I break it, the cost is in the thousands. Also, every time I move to a new apartment, the contract starts over. They play all these games with Visa gift cards as well. I highly recommend against ADT. read more

I recently signed up for ADT and was guaranteed two months free. I received a letter in the mail stating that I owed $106.00 for December and January. These are the two months that I was supposed to have free. I have called the sales representative and customer service multiple times. In addition, I have sent emails. The only response I received is we will have to contact your sales representative to verify. The money was taken from my account. I called again today and was informed that I would receive a credit of $100.00. That the taxes aren't refundable. Thus, I am not truly getting two months free. The issue I have are the hoops I had to jump through to get my problem solved. The last woman I spoke with wasn't kind or accommodating. She had a bit of an attitude and would only say "well ma'am ... " Honestly, signing up with ADT has been a headache. I highly encourage everyone to do their research. I know that $6 dollars is not something to complain about but at the moment I am stretching every penny and the double charge (106) was not an expense I had accounted for (since I was getting two months free). Furthermore, I received a letter stating I could reduce the price of my bill. I sent it to the sales representative and he stated he would look into it. Again, I have called and emailed and have nothing. It seems like once they hook you then they don't care about you as a customer. Now I am stuck in a three year contract with a company that I do not have faith in. Again, please do your research, just having a popular name is not a reason to use a company. I am disappointed. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have a security system installed, and I had to wait about 6 weeks for it. They canceled it the day they were supposed to show up because of poor weather conditions --which we didn't have. They rescheduled for two weeks later and confirmed the appointment there. The day of the rescheduled appointment I called to confirm and they told me my appointment had been canceled. I had been waiting for almost two months, and they keep canceling on me. Their phone customer service is also atrocious. I'll be looking for an alternate vendor. read more

Had the system less than a year and they've been out to service it at least a dozen times. Mostly poor quality sensors. But the system has gone down entirely and it has taken them over 10 days to come and fix the equipment related problem. They are fast to dispatch installers, but when you need to get the system running its another story. Better to spend more and go with a quality company. read more

They made it as difficult as they could to cancel and of course added a 30 day waiting period to cancel once they allowed it. I was on the phone for an hour. It's essentially trying to scam those last few dollars after paying them for three years. I will never use them again. read more

USE ANOTHER COMPANY!!! I wish there was a "zero stars" option! It actually hurts to even give them 1 star at this point. We just moved and had our system transferred to the new house. Getting an appointment set up for the transfer took over an hour on the phone, and at the end of that hour, they told me I had to move our current equipment myself for the install. When the technician came to install the equipment, he gave us an estimate of $12,000 for the install to protect our new house (which is only a little over 2k sq ft) which is $11,500 more than the estimate given over the phone during my hour long phone call!! After the transfer, we were still charged for our previous address and had 2 separate auto-draft payments coming out of our account each month. Of course, when I made that phone call to dispute charges, they told me they couldn't help me because it was on a previous/deactivated account. This is when I found out that they had the wrong address listed on our account for an entire year!! If something happened and we needed emergency assistance, they would've gone to the wrong address! We also discovered the equipment they just installed in our new house is faulty because the motion sensor didn't go off while the alarm was set and we were walking through the room that it's set up in. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. I contact ADT to install our security system and 4 exterior surveillance cameras. Less than 30 days later we contacted ADT because our cameras were offline and needed service. An ADT corporate representative came out last Monday (8/7) and informed me that he was unable to service the cameras because my account was still with their subcontractor (Home Defenders - the ones who actually installed my system but was wearing ADT uniforms and didn't indicated he was with another company) for the first 90 days and I would have to contact them. The ADT corporate representative also informed me that the problem we were having was that the cameras that were installed were interior cameras and not exterior cameras. We (me and the ADT corporate rep) contacted Home Defenders together and they stated they would have to send out one of their representatives to verify. Last Saturday (8/12) Home Defenders' rep came out and confirmed they were interior cameras and was there to take them down. He indicated that Home Defenders typically install interior cameras because they don't carry exterior cameras and after 90 days I could call ADT to swap them out. I contacted the corporate rep that came out the first time and he gave me his supervisor's number. I contacted her today and was informed that they could not do ANYTHING because they didn't have my account. I now have to dispute the almost $3,000 in equipment charges to my credit card, cancel my credit card used for billing purposes, write a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and get Home Defenders to cancel my contract since I am not getting the products I agreed too. Save yourself a headache and go with another company!! read more
