I have never in my life had such bad customer service as I have in the last few days. Lied to about appointments, lied to about return calls. Had a technician here today and an hour later had to call the company that my alarm was beeping was told I would receive a tech call between 7 and 7:30 call never received then was told it was for. 4 pm tomorrow.... Lied to again. After have the system for 7 years one of their parts broke due to no fault of my own and the tried to charge me $59 for the visit... I did not pay. If I could rate them -10 I would. Awful, awful, scam company. Tried to restart an older ADT system that was disconnected. Called into the service to restart, and they said they could accommodate a 12 month contract and they told me the tech could handle it. Service tech comes out, we needed to upgrade some items which is fine, but I explicitly said that I need a 12 month contract since we wouldn't have the property for that long. He said it's fine, but couldn't get in touch with their home office. So, I needed to call back within 3 business days to change contract. Called in next business day. They needed to do research on what the sales vs tech people were saying. Research took several days, while that specific person had a couple vacation days. Now, they won't budge on the 3 year contract. Thousands of dollars wasted. Now, they say they might be able to help when I cancel the service in 9 months or so. Right. What a joke. I'm going to make this quick, because there's not a whole lot to say, unfortunately. First thing, ADT stole our money; let me explain... We've been customers since 2008 (It is now 2024, and we've just met with a Guardian rep and will be switching VERY soon!) So... we were members since 2008. Eventually, as things do, their equipment became outdated, and we were no longer being monitored. Did they send out a notification like dentists do when it's time for a teeth cleaning? No. They just continued to take our money without letting us know they could no longer monitor us. I found this out when my alarm when off and I didn't receive a phone call. I was told our system was out-of-date and no longer viable. I asked them why they didn't let us know and received a poor response. I asked them why they were still billing us. Another I-don't-know response. So I had to fight with them about getting my money back - I was told that they could only give me a 3-month reimbursement because that's the amount of time they weren't monitoring me (but taking our money). That's BS, know why I know? Because that equipment was pre-2010, and equipment went touchscreen-wise fairly soon after. Second thing: Our doorbell cam. It quit working. They had connected it to our old doorbell, which was hardwired, but they gave us a rechargeable cam bell (unbeknownst to us), and did NOT wire it to the old wiring. Needless to say, the bell cam quit working. I called them, and they said it needed to be charged (using a mobile phone charger, etc.) I was annoyed by this, but I did it. Eventually, the charge quit working. I called them out, twice. I was told we needed to install a transformer. WHAT? So I'm being monitored by a company that's supposed to put my safety first, and I get a bum bell cam? So enough of them, I called Guardian. Guardian came out and looked at the bell, and was dumbfounded that ADT didn't hard wire it where the old bell was. I called ADT to cancel my service on the day Guardian is to come set up our new system. They had a looooong wait, so I opted to be called back. No call came. So I called back; the number would ring, they disconnect. That might not have been on them, maybe technical difficulties. Whatever, it still added to my ire. Guardian, btw, offers a first-responder discount, which means you will get a decent amount off of the install, as well as 3-mos free of monitoring. So just watch out with ADT. Theives and poor at what they do. P.S. Oh, oh, oh... Almost forgot!!! My father-in-law is an electrician. He wired out whole house for an alarm system. So when ADT came out, they had most of their work done for them. But then later, I needed a tech to come out (I forget why, forgive me), but the tech screwed up by running the wire around our house and stapling it in place!!!! So we had our house appropriately wired, and they sent a young man out to rewire something and he fudged it all up! Blech! read more

A tech came to place a security system and it took over 7 hours for him to just place the panel. He kept calling someone to get help because he didn't know what he was doing. He couldnt even show us how to use it or change our code because he didnt know how to use it. He left at 9pm and we called to ask for a new tech. The new tech came a week later and told us that the previous rep placed the panel I the wrong spot. A couple weeks later the garage sensor and door goes off and doesn't respond, we keep getting notifications. The alarm will go off randomly when its armed. The panel hasn't responded in over 2 weeks. Called customer service and no one can help. I asked to cancel because the system hasn't worked since day one, they say they can't help me it's over $1,000 to cancel. I asked for a manager and corporate number they say they don't have a corporate number and they cant transfer me to anyone. I am extremely unsatisfied with the customer service. We've had an ADT security system for about 7 months now and it's been nothing but trouble. None of their sensors actually work, and thus I've triggered my alarm accidentally more times than I can count. They have had multiple techs come out and this "fixes" the problem for about a week and then the sensors stop working. They offer to send more techs, but unless they change their practices I'm not going to endanger my family by allowing strangers in my house over and over during a pandemic. At this point, I've lost all confidence in having a security system at all. My rep instructed us to reach out should we ever have any issues, but has not responded to an email in over a month. The worst part is their insane cancellation policies. I now am asked to pay $1300 to leave a service that hasn't and apparently will not work properly. I will gladly pay that to never have to deal with this company again. I honestly wonder if their security systems are designed to work, or if they just try to sign you to a contract as fast as possible so they can then extort you when you try to get the service you signed up for. I called in to disconnect the service for the current month and they bill me another extra month when the services is not in use? What a ripped off. The reason I switched over to a different plan is because ATD doesn't have wireless system like Frontpoint does. Also Frontpoint are more reasonable and there system is way more convenient and active notify clearly. Don't chose ADT it's a waste of money. My house got burglar twice and ATD doesn't help bc when the theft came in they cut off the internet wire so it's no point to waste your money on ADT. We just moved into a house where the owner abandoned an ADT security system. We've happily been with Frontpoint security for 3 years and had no intention of switching services, so we installed our own system and disabled the old one right after we moved in. At best the ADT presence in our home should have been a non factor. However, it turned out to be nothing short of a nuisance. Aside from the defunct system constantly beeping and sending random alerts to the control panels and non stop offers in the mail, we've had ADT reps stop by at our front door 5 separate times (in a month!) to see if we were interested in activating the system and signing up with them. I can understand 1 time, even 2. But 5? What part of "no, not interested" doesn't make sense? If that wasn't bad enough, after 5 no's they looked up our real estate agent and had him convey, for a 6th time, that they REALLY wanted us to sign up and had great offers to tell us about. It never ends with these people. So, for those at ADT who think persistant solicitation 'pays off' let me say this: your perpetual invasion of my family's privacy and refusal to accept a simple no has: a) shown me what tools you really are; b) solidified the notion that I will never use your services; c) prompted me to write this review. Oh yeah, I should mention, their allegedly great deals are not so great at all. They promise $800 worth of free equipment. But take it from me, you can get the very same equipment online for a fraction of the cost and you can have it monitored by a far more reputable company than ADT. Followed ADT direction that if a 3rd tech comes out and confirms system not working, I didnt get the equipment I should have the they will honor the money back guarantee. So I had a 3rd tech out to reconfirm, system not working, I didnt get the equipment I should have, the install was poorly done. Asked if I wanted to have all new equipment installed or call to have service cancelled under the guarantee. Being tired of dealing with this I said save the money on replacing the equipment so I chose to cancel the service. Well where do i start - first and foremost I WANT A HUGE THANK YOU - CUSTOMER SERVICE REP DONNA FROM PA...YOU ARE THE REASON , why i decided to giveit another try and not give up!!!! Great customer service and you LISTENED! I had several issues getting the system set up, due to information being shared- such as 2 G or 5 g matters and " pass code". It WAS so confusing! I suggest that when one "transfers" you also transfer the infoneeded and the issue. I was passewd around allot and on two seperate accounts. I shared with rep i was going through cancer and some delays in installlation, he assured me - noproblem. This wasnt the case, not to mention i habe to split my wirelsss provider. I understand we are all a little stressed and ""under or "over worked"- i get it! It was just the dag gone tech support and the inital sales POC - information is vital to know, especially for someone who needed something very basic. I gave a 5 star because of Donna, in billing!! I am currently holding for over an hour with ADT as I write this review. I have been in Customer Service for 20+ years and have never seen such horrible service. I have been having issues with my system since installation. In fact there's even issues with how the panel and CO detector have been installed. I pay my bill in full every month and every two months there's an issue with something. I've currently been waiting over a month for a replacement camera in which they stated if a technician comes out there's a $60 charge so in turn I agreed to have the camera sent to me which I would then install myself without the additional charge. Needless to say it's been a month and still no camera. This is my 4th time calling regarding this situation and currently the 5th person has put me on hold. I wish I could give negative stars at this point. After this review I will be not only writing a letter to the president but contacting my attorney regarding a class action suit because I'm sure I am not the only person having this issue. On top of that I have video recordings that have been deleted which I did not do and no one can answer why, the battery in the on of the sensors died less than a year of being installed, the battery in the panel died around a year and a half after installation which they charged me for, the list goes on. I would leave No Star if possible. I had a very expensive system installed in my home with what I believed to be a reputable company ADT. The sales person was great - and I purchased almost 5 thousand dollars worth of security equipment, and signed a 3 year agreement (ridiculously long contract these days). The first bad experience came a few weeks into owning the system. We changed internet service providers and none of the equipment worked. I called for service and they said it would be 75 - 150 to come out and reprogram the cameras and system. I thought, really - after just spending almost 5K with this company and they are going to charge me for this service. I agreed and the tech came out and did the service. I did most of it, and reset the cameras myself with his direction. The bill, when he presented it to me on his iPad 750.00! I was shocked - what, I was told 75-150. He was there less then an hour, I refused to pay it. I said I would have never approved that estimate if the estimate was 750 dollars. Keep in mind I just spent almost 5K with this company and signed a 3 year contract. No service or support comes with that? Crazy. Next - and much more ludicrous! We had some life changes and proceeded to sell our home. I called ADT to have our system moved to our new location and to continue the contract. They informed me that they do not move equipment to new locations. I was again more then shocked - are you saying I just leave the 5k worth of equipment and pay it again at the new location? They said that is our policy we do not relocate equipment. I felt so robbed - and was locked into a three year contract. They have billed me now almost 8 thousand dollars for the equipment and remaining service contract - with no service. That is the contract the ADT reps have repeatedly told me. So no equipment, no service - Owe Eight Thousand dollars. It is reduced some as I am making payments, as I seemingly have no choice - as ADT has informed me - That is the contract. For over a month we have been dealing with a faulty security system that was recently contracted with ADT. One failure after another we asked them to pls just cut ties and give our money back. Last ditch they said 'AH it is your control panel that's the issues' ... lie .... so they took out our personally bought Honeywell L5100 lynx touch and replaced it with a 1992 key pad version that I grew up with in my parents house and called it an upgrade. Still did not work - so we asked to just pls stop embarrassing themselves and replace back our original panel. Guy showed up today to put on theatrics with 'I can fixed this now' we said we just wanted our panel back pls ... and he acted surprised as if this was the first he is hearing the actual reason for the appointment. He called the 'manager' and said they shipped it off (shipped it off where???.... it is ours? You mean your guy sold it on eBay or something?) .... we asked them pls just put it back .... THEN THEY CHARGED US $179 FOR THE VISIT. Client relations on the phone is embarrassed but local Horsham branch is playing 'dumb'. Now we are on the phone trying to get all our money back from this useless visit AND track down our original panel. I knew with every inch of my body not to trust ADT ... and wow was I right ... These people are outright crooks. Signed up for service 2 years ago. Specifically asked the rep re: the conditions of getting out of contract. His exact words were "if you move, it's no problem. They'll waive the early termination fee." Come to find out that only applies if you transfer your service to a new location or to a new customer. Now to leave, we owe $750. It's a total racket. Also, the product/tech sucks. I set off the alarm countless times just to test it. No one ever calls. And the one time they did, it was almost 15 minutes later. (Not great if you're being broken into.) Once I was out and realized I had a missed call from ADT Security. No one left a message. I raced back home and it was like nothing had happened. I called and asked why they called. No one knew. No one cared. When the tech installed my service he installed it upside down. Yes, upside down. I didn't even know I didn't have service for the first two months because it was scanning my ceiling. I had to go online and look at diagrams to figure it out myself that it was facing the wrong direction! Then they had to send someone back out (making me take a second day off of work) for them to install it correctly. Then 6 months later, the electric door panel they installed craps out. I call them, and they tell me I have to call the manufacturer to send the device and then call them so they can come install it. Basically, I had to reinstall it myself (took hours) or pay to have ADT install it again. Ridiculous. This service is a joke. I can't even tell you how many times I had to call in because there was something wrong with the panel or my app that things weren't syncing. Even after 5 years and being completely unable to use the service, they will not cancel without a $600 fee. I don't recommend them at all. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I was supposed to have my equipment installed on August 24th. They came out that day and first told me the security system wasn't going to be installed as someone at ADT cancelled the contract without asking me. Then, the locksmith they contracted to install the lock for the keypad entry didn't bring a lock to do their job. I was told I would get a call right away to get things rescheduled. After 2 weeks of nothing and not getting my calls returned, I reached out to my national sales rep who was able to arrange for a new locksmith. This locksmith installed the lock, but in the process, cut into and damaged my brand new door for the office (and I still haven't been told what is going to be done to fix that). In addition, they never sent a tech out to finish installing the entry pad after the lock got put in. It's now been another month and I finally got them to send out a tech today to finish the install and they sent a tech that didn't know how to work the system and couldn't do anything. They've now told me they will have to reschedule me again. When I told them I just want to have my contract cancelled, I was told that I would be charged a termination fee of $1306. If I can give 0 stars I would. We've been an ADT customer for over 18 years. Everything was fine until they ADT decided to "upgrade" our system. On Wednesday 11/14/18, two techs arrived late and stayed at my house for over 6 hours. From 10:40 to 4:20pm Why???? They screwed up our internet connection and I did ask the tech and he said theres nothing to do with that. Killed our new router, made a dirty mess in my office, add new keypads and sheet rock were all over the place and now there are holes around the keypad. They also walked around with their dirty boots and they enter rooms they shouldnt have. We've called ADT every day since the incident and we have to repeat the same problem every time and no one calls us back. Oh, and they suggested we file a police report and call our home owner insurance. Against who???? It's really disheartening to be a customer for so long and have to go through this. They had me give a code to the office people so I would know when they came in....but people were still robbing my apt. & it didn't show up on the app in the activity. Then I found out ANOTHER CODD WAS SECRETLY BEING USED. When I explained I was assaulted ADT DENIED THE SECRET CODE AND HARASSED ME FOR MONTHS FOR NOT PAYING. The worst business practices I've ever seen. Shameful. Borderline fraud. I had an ADT system in VA. The equipment was already in the house, so I activated it. Why not, right? After about a year, we were relocating to NJ. I called to find out what I had to do. They explained that I could leave the equipment and have the new owners take over so I wouldn't be responsible for the early termination fee (ETF) or get a new system in my new home. Fast forward to the new home. I call ADT and find that the new owners of the VA home had, indeed, activated the old system. ETF waived. But, I said, why not - a free install (they offered) at the new house sounds like a great idea. The new installer comes out and quotes is for $5000+!!! But haggles it down significantly...then, I get a bill from a company from CA, Blue Light Security for $2000+! Turns out ADT didn't run the show in VA. I was in contract with Blue Light Security!!! Everything in my house said ADT. The numbers I called were ADT. But Blue Light Security was the "authorized dealer". After HOURS of investigation, it turns out "a mistake" was made in the billing department- I didn't owe the $2000 because the new owners had taken over. But now I realized, ADT wasn't who I was working with at the new house...even though that's who I'm paying and that's what my security system says. It turns out it's this half-witted company called Defender. I call them up to voice my dissatisfaction and feelings of deception- the phone operator had the nerve to mock me. If someone offers you a security system - don't do it. The contracts are far more expensive that doing it yourself- fraudulent business practices and the worst customer service I've ever experienced! Safe haven Adt cares immensely about their customers. They often make return trips to homes and families to ensure their well being and the sense of safety that Adt provides. Some reps like to keep it light and may make sarcastic but funny, piquant remarks to babysitters who show bias toward local South Asian American Indian communes. These babysitters, not quite getting sarcasm it seems, miss their own prejudice and misinterpret a quick quip and project their own discrimination onto others. When one has a yogi who specializes in pre-natal yoga as a wife - one really gets to understand the many peaceful aspects of South Asian American Indian culture so never was a man present in Cherry Hill who had any words with a safe haven rep or threatened a rep or demonstrated his own violent temperament by encouraging others to do the same. Also, some reps don't like to bother people while those people are in the midst of a job such as washing their car; but, unfortunately, since so many residents aren't home when we arrive, we still do our best to accommodate a potential customer by getting directly to the point - trying not keep the interruption at a minimum. This directness, however, seems to get lost on younger people who misinterpret such gestures as some sort of short handed shoddy attempt at sales. Instead of giving the benefit of the doubt and try to discern intentions - they seem to lose their own common sense judgement and leap to confirmation bias. I signed up with a worker that had knocked on my door, I clearly told them that I didn't want my credit ran, I gave them a printed copy of my fico score instead and the worker and his supervisor informed me that it would be fine.. And my credit would not be ran. However, this company still ran it....... I really don't appreciate being lied to in this matter, especially when I made myself clear why I didn't want to. what a trash company. they charge me a ton of money for crappy product and service. they upsold me an extra motion sensor for my extra garage behind my house which never worked properly so I eventually just removed it. I had the techs come out like 8 times to fix it and they never did (they also charged me for the tech visits without me knowing). They won't accept a return of the sensor. Also when I set to away, the motion sensor in the house should be active, but its not since the system defaults back to stay mode since i leave through the garage and don't trip a door sensor. So i'm basically paying like $50 a month for 2 measly door sensors and even those don't work that great. and that's really only some of the issues I have with this company. I could be here typing all day. I really hate this company. i wish I could end the contract and go to simpli safe. I hope ADT goes out of business soon. read more

I have left 2 voice messages and numerous emails. No one has responded to any of my concerns. So far my perception of this business is not good. When I called to find out about their product and service, customer service told me one monthly price which included my equipment. The man who came to install my equipment was very nice, punctual, and informative. The first thing he told me is that the sales team over the phone did not tell you everything you need to know. It ended up costing me more money a month with the equipment that I purchased. The installer told me that this has been happening to all of the customers lately. I first emailed the company on Wednesday after installation. It is now Sunday and I have yet to get a response. I followed up with my email on Thursday by phone. The customer relations supervisor agreed with my concerns, but needed to investigate my concerns in a period of 48 hours. I never received a phone call back. I spent 3.5 hours on the phone trying to get information. The information was contradicting and transfer from one rep to the next. I finally get transferred to a woman from dispatch. She basically tells me this is the service and this is what you will pay without even hearing the concerns. I ask to speak to a supervisor and she places me on hold. I never got to speak to anyone. We have been without service for four days and their technician shows up and said he rang the bell never called or texted us ...... When i called their services people they said they would reschedule for the next day. We cancelled a trip to be here and they make no effort. read more
