The woman who did my manicure worked quickly but definitely cut corners. She didn't clean under my nails and my nails were different shapes and lengths. One had little bubbles on it. So I stopped by this little gem of a nail salon one day because I couldn't take the traffic. I was in dire need of a pedicure and glad I stopped. First off it was just about 30 minutes before closing & Tina was glad to still to see me. They asked me to pay for service so they can close the register & they said $33, I was thinking this is going to be really basic. I am appalled at how rude the owner (which is apparently named, Tammy, by what other reviews have mentioned) was. The very first time I came into the salon, she was extremely rude to my mother and I for no apparent reason. I decided to chalk it up as her possibly having a bad day. I decided to come back since my office is walking distance to this specific salon. I gave them 3 more attempts and each time the owner was offensively impolite. The very last time I went there, Tammy decided to bash me in front of another customer. Today I needed just a color application (gel nail polish) and made an appointment with Tammy. When I came in, Tammy told me that other customers were complaining about Hailey's work, so Hailey is no longer with them. I love Tammy's dedication to keeping her clients happy and actually employing people that are good at what they do, and as Hailey is gone now, I feel the need to bump my review up, so plus one star. Now about the actual manicure. Tammy remembered which color I like to use (and also remembered what color the other person who walked in after me likes to use), which also shows her dedication. But most importantly, she follows the rules of shellac application. I have training in the matter, and if you look into the gel nail polish training a little more closely, you'll learn that you're supposed to start with a bondant (the clear liquid they use to prep your nails, NOT acetone), then you're ONLY supposed to put the base coat once, which MUST be followed by a normal coat (unlimited times), and top coat is only applied once at the end. If you apply 2 base coats, two top coats, or if you're getting french and there's no coat between the base and the top, your nails will peel. And so far, Tammy is the only person in Nor Cal that follows that procedure. So another star for actually doing that, which brings me to 5 stars. Good job! read more

So relaxing and she really worked hard to make sure my feet were soft and callus free. Tammy (the owner) did my manicure and it's perfect! As for service: it was very quick and not so professional. My cuticles were warmed not well and cut pure. Nail polish (gel) was applied with big gaps from cuticles and after 5 days my nails were looks like after 3 weeks. This nail salon is very "mom and pop." It has a genuine feel to it. Their first priority is taking care of your nails. My prior experience with gel polish was terrible at the salon I went to. There's an art to it and you have to do it right. When it's done wrong, it will crack and peel on you just like regular polish. Tammy did my toes and hands and the gel remained on until I was ready to take them off. It was vibrant, strong, and the texture was perfect! I've also had bad experiences so with technicians messing up my gel and leaving a dent in my polish. It harder to fix so they won't do it. The place's manager (Tammy) is extremely rude and unpleasant. She has acted rude to me before on different occasions, but I always chalked it up to her having a bad day. However, my experience today was a particularly troubling one. Her rudeness began on the phone when I called to make an appointment. She was rushing me through the phone call and saying that she can not talk. When I got there after work, despite making an appointment, I had to wait for almost an hour. While waiting, I was asked if I wanted some water or tea, and I said I'd like some water since I was thirsty. After 2 hours of being there, I started to feel sleepy, since I was tired from work too, and I asked for tea too. In response to this, Tammy decided to mock me in front of everyone. When it was time to pay, I said I'd like to pay for the tea too, but also told her that she should be a little nicer to the customers. She started screaming at me and telling me things like "Do not come back", and "I am rude to the rude people like you." Even though I haven't done anything that could be considered rude at all. All I wanted to do was to have a nice relaxing time and get my nails done. I am 58 years old and I have been having my nails done regularly for at least 40 years. I know what needs to be done, and what customer service is like. There is a wonderful girl (Hali) here, who does a great job. But unfortunately, my entire experience was ruined by Tammy's rude remarks and attitude, and what I hoped would be a nice relaxing time, turned into a really shocking and upsetting experience. It was the end of day and I realize they were all tired and wanted to go home. So they probably should not have taken more clients. They sat me down right when she said she would, so I appreciated not waiting at all. My nails had streaks on them because they were done in a rush fashion and within a two days started chipping. The second coat did not cover the first. Also, in the middle of putting color on my nails the owner stopped to help a walk in client who had gotten her nails done elsewhere but messed two toes up in the car. They are an intimate establishment that still has everything for a great spa nail experience - great chairs, skin scrubs, lotions, etc. And they have a great color selection that they update regularly - something I've found lacking at other salons. All of the manicurists here are perfectionists which is a trait I love in someone painting my nails! I've had gel manicures, regular polish manicures, and pedicures here and all have been great! They will often do an extra coat or more of polish and are always so sweet and patient. However, if you're in a rush, this may not be the place to come because the perfect work can take a little bit longer. In addition to how great your nails will look, you'll also feel pampered in the very clean salon, with great massage chairs, with a hot lavender wrap around your neck, when you have a hot stone massage on your legs, with a large glass of cucumber water, and more! And all for regular local manicure prices :) They also have just about any color you could imagine in regular polish and gel. Finally, I like this location. You can always find parking, you can do groceries at Safeway at the same time if you want to, and there's also a yummy Wild Berry froyo spot and a Starbucks. Earlier in the afternoon I called and asked if I could come in at 4:45. Tammy (the owner) says "Can you come at 4:30?" I asked where the massage remote was and she showed me... when I turned it on she seemed visibly annoyed, and stomped around to where my water was and moved it. She asked me if I wanted my nails cut down, I said "no, please just file", then she starts saying that they will be uneven... I said "that's fine, just file please, thank you", and she continued to argue with me about my choice. WTF?!?! One of my nails had a chip in and I asked her if she could fix it for me. She barks "that will be $3 extra!" I said "that's fine, thank you". Her whole mood was funky and obnoxious. I grew equally annoyed at this point. She told me to take my watch off so she could massage me and I said, no thank you, I don't want a massage. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. I've never felt so uncomfortable ever in my life in a nail salon... that's where I usually go to relax and decompress. Her attitude and demeanor was just unprofessional and uncalled for. If you don't want to service folks close to closing time, don't take any more appointments. Further more if you are in the SERVICE industry, a little bit of compassion and kindness goes a long way. I had a long day and wanted to do a little self-care before heading home from work and I left this shop feeling angry, pissed off and agitated. She's never done my nails in the 4-5 years I've been coming here- usually one of the other ladies does my nails and they are all very nice.
