We headed to the one closest to our next destination which is off Raintree and Northside. You must drive up to a gate where you will take a ticket. Follow the road to the building where smog checks are done. We didn't even wait 10 minutes before our turn came up. Staff motioned us to drive forward when they were ready and took our ticket. The staff has you turn off your engine and restart it again. You are asked to leave your car running and to leave the car momentarily. There are small rooms for customers to wait while the test happens. It took maybe 3 minutes at most. We paid the test fee, passed the test and drove away. Smog test results are sent electronically to MDV. All we need to do is renew the registration. Staff are super efficient.

Times…read morehave changed, and now there's a fee, which is fine... but what was a bit confusing was that the website showed they were open on President's Day. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who saw that, because several of us showed up to find the doors very much closed. Since these aren't government-run sites, I was surprised they weren't open, especially when so many other businesses were operating that day. That said, I returned later and had the pleasure of being helped by Frank. He was a senior gentleman like myself, and let's just say he operated at a smooth and steady 0.1 miles per hour. But you know what? I appreciated it. He was clearly doing his very best, taking his time, and making sure everything was done properly. At one point, he was mopping the cement floor with a mop, which I don't judge at all however, I did find it a bit unexpected during the process! Because of the slower pace (and the brief housekeeping intermission), my lane took a little longer than the others. Thankfully, I wasn't in a rush and was able to wait patiently. In the end, kindness goes a long way. Frank may move at his own speed, but he was respectful and doing honest work. Thank you, sir, for your effort and dedication. Being a kind human really is what matters most.
