Adele's is one of my favorite ice cream spots in the Minneapolis area. Their homemade custard is always delicious, and there are so many toppings and flavor combinations to choose from. What really sets them apart is how accommodating they are with food allergies, which makes every visit stress-free and enjoyable. A special shoutout to the manager, who always takes the time to make my sundae in the back to ensure it's prepared safely for my allergy needs. That extra level of care and customer service means so much. Great treats, great people, and a place I'm always excited to visit! read more

Delicious ice cream! I've only ever gotten the truffle sundae but it's been delicious every time. The place can be packed and there is only outdoor seating. The parking lot is a nightmare, almost bad enough for me to stop coming here. The service is quick though for how busy it is! read more

Adele's Frozen Custard - Truffle (chocolate, Raspberries, Fudge) - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Excelsior, Minnesota

Hot fudge sundae was so creamy and delicious! The top is loaded with whipped cream followed by a layer of fudge and ice cream. We went on a hot evening but the outdoor seating was shaded by trees and umbrellas at tables. Although there was a line, the service was quick and it took me just enough time to make a decision on what to order before my turn came up. read more

Adele's is always a treat. They have Dole Whip in a variety of flavors. Always great service by the young staff managing the drive up window. Custard flavors change daily. read more

My friend from Minnesota took us here after a long day of exploring. This was her "spot" growing up & having had ice cream in California together, I trust her opinion. We came right before closing & the joint was packed and busy, including several patrons who arrived after us. The line inside wasn't long because by the time you're done paying/tipping your order is already ready. There were probably so many flavor & topping options, but after sampling the cookie butter daily special it was a NEED. I'm also a diehard rainbow sprinkles girl, so I went with the easy choice. If I hadn't been exhausted I would have spent extra time figuring out the other toppings like fruit. read more

I have wanted to go to Adele's forever after hearing amazing things. I had heard about the flavor calendar and highly recommend looking at this and the menu so that you know what you want prior to arriving. When I arrived at Adele's the drive thru was full and they were taking orders car by car instead of at the window to make service quicker. There was some minimal seating but the drive thru seemed the way to go. The banana cream pie was the flavor of the day and was amazing! It had bananas, whipped cream, and vanilla wafers in a banana pudding custard. Already planning my next visit here! read more

Adele's Frozen Custard is the best custard I have ever had. This place is a true Minnesota summer staple. I honestly can't say enough good things about it. The staff are so friendly and upbeat, and they always go above and beyond. Most of them are students, so be generous with tips because they absolutely make the experience better. The toppings are LOADED on, not sprinkled, and the cookie dough is especially fantastic. You'll probably need a second cup because it's overflowing, which is never a bad problem to have. The service is great whether you go through the drive-thru or inside, and it's always fast and welcoming. Adele's is one of those places you crave year round and it never disappoints. read more

Gawd the custard is so good. It's worth the drive from Minneapolis. Even the vanilla is amazing.

Adele's is a MUST visit if ever near Excelsior. Their custard is truly unprecedented. They have a new flavor of the day each day (sometimes even 2) and typically differently flavored frozen yogurt. You can also get concrete mixers or sundaes that are to die for. Their waffle cones are freshly made and impeccable. Additionally, their custard pies, specifically the chocolate raspberry truffle one is a huge hit at any party or gathering. They tend to always be pretty busy but get orders out fast and also have a drive through which is great! It's located in just a quaint house turned custard shop right off of highway 7 and very conveniently located. I truly cannot speak highly enough about how amazing Adele's is. Try out just a simple vanilla dish with the cookie dough on top (literally incredible), the flavor of the day, or truffle Sunday - you can't go w read more

We have loved this business for frozen custard in the past as it is so delicious. We noticed that the amount of teen staff was overwhelming for a cool fall day ( maybe 6 or 7 teens) with very few customers. The teen manager was extremely unhelpful when I was ordering custard. I stated that I did not want their Special Dark custard as there would be gluten in the brownie pieces. She then proceeded to make ambivalent comments about their hot fudge sauce. I asked for ingredients, which she did not seem to know or understand despite looking in a manual. Most of the hot fudge sauces are made of chocolate, cream, sugar and butter but she continued to say that their ingredients could not be confirmed as gluten free. When a business keeps making statements about not confirming their food as gluten free, but unwilling to share whether there is flour in the item...it is very off putting to have such a perplexed, immature, non plain speaking teen staff acting flummoxed. The group of teens around her seemed to be mocking us, laughing and acting silly. The experience was unfriendly, confusing and unpleasant. The custard was delicious as always but I wonder why there is no manager to answer questions, and direct the teens as to appropriate behavior to patrons. read more

Great Custard!! This was so good! I am in Minnesota visiting family and was so excited to get custard at Culvers. We decided to try Adeles and it was so incredibly good!! Loved it and would definitely go back!! It's very busy and can get a bit hectic un the parking lot. Not a lot if room inside or outside. read more

Adele's Frozen Custard - blueberries sundae - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Excelsior, Minnesota

What an absolute treat! And it has a drive through? What else could you possibly want?! I got the turtle sundae and now I have dreams of it. Despite it being swirled with caramel and fudge, topped with candied pecans and whip with the cherry on top of course, the vanilla custard itself does not taste overly sweet. In fact, it's just perfect! Wish I lived in the area to try more flavors. The service is quick, the ladies were so nice. Quaint little town must-have! read more

I love ice cream and this place did not disappoint I got toffee almond ice cream with cookie dough and let me tell you they do not skimp on the cookie dough mine was piled high with it and it was delicious. I probably would get a different flavor though because toffee almond was a bit plain, however it did have real toffee pieces in it which was nice. The small size is also a pretty large amount so would totally recommend! read more

Adele's Frozen Custard - Toffee almond with cookie dough - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Excelsior, Minnesota

My friends and I tried quite the variety here and everyone was satisfied! The cookie dough is excellent, and you definitely get what you pay for. It tastes like "real" cookie dough that you would buy from the store, not just the tiny morsels of "cookie dough" that you typically find elsewhere. You can actually taste the chocolate chips, and they add a nice texture as well. Definitely a cool spot to check out if you're nearby. All of the people working were kind and efficient; they even have a drive thru window! There is pretty limited indoor seating but a decent amount outside. It's the perfect Summer spot read more

While biking 68 miles to celebrate my brother's 68th birthday, I remembered that he and his family are decades-long fans of Adele's, and often go to the drive-up window on their bikes. So I stopped by. But an employee told me that bikes are not allowed at the drive-up window, even though they're only two blocks from the Lake Minnetonka Trail, and bikes are street-legal. So I left disappointed, and hungry. read more

I have been going to Adele's my entire life. 25+ years.... Getting the same thing. A concrete mixer. And what these kids are doing is CRIMINAL. Adele's isn't about frozen custard anymore, it's more about candy. There is no conceivable way an adult would make a concrete mixer this way. And it's not the way they've been made for ever, until the last 3-5 years. I feel like it's candy with a side of ice cream. And it needs to go back to how it should be. Culver's might be a better option read more

We've tried HARD to love this local place but honestly it nevertheless always disappoints. Got the flavor of the day and it honestly just tastes like plain vanilla. Also got the "concrete" but even after multiple reminders, they still got our order wrong. We received 2 melted pints with a tiny bit of topping at on top.... not at all mixed. Employees were pretty nice but completely messed up our order after reassurance it was correct. Honestly just go to licks unlimited or Culver's. read more

We came really close to closing time, so this may have skewed my decision. Overall, they had very limited frozen custard options, but they had a ton of toppings - which was good. The servers were nice. I think you can either walk in or drive through it. Not a huge spot- so not a ton of seating inside or outside. Definitely pricier, but not as deserved in my opinion. read more

Wonderful! The custards are incredible. Service staff is very polite and professional. I absolutely recommend the Turtle Pie. Generous size and good for 8-10 nice slices at only $27, it's a real deal. Actually, it's good for about 6 to 8 of my visits to the freezer at night. read more

YUM! We love this place. They have a flavor of the day calendar that we usually plan our ice cream trips around. They are definitely the star of the show at Adele's. You can drive through or walk up. Adele's is a cute summertime treat spot! Adele's is an old house turned custard spot, with lots of great patio seating and a great crowd. Great ambiance! Parking lot is small and many signs limit parking to 1 hour. Drive through and the line inside is very fast - there's tons of employees who are scooping and taking orders. Frozen Custard just may be my new favorite ice cream! It's THAT good! Definitely underrated - who knew frozen custard would be this tasty?! They have so many options, it was hard to narrow down what to get - however, I ended up settling on the Turtle. I replaced the nuts with their home made cookie dough and oh, it was so worth it. I've heard people rave about their cookie dough and the compliments are valid - it was perfect in every way. And they serve a lot of it ! Not only that, but the Vanilla custard on its own was just divine. Super creamy, softer than ice cream, but still rich and delicious. My husband got the apple caramel one and it legit tasted like apple pie. Apple pie in the summer. Yes, I'm sold! And I hope you are too. Best part of this custard place is that it's a drive thru - so all you do is drive past the window, order, and drive to the nearby lake to enjoy it. It was a nice little date watching the waves of the lake go by, the geese eye the custard, and the ducks with their little ducklings. Their menu was so large, I'm excited to try different flavor options for next time. read more

This was my first time visiting Adele's and I will definitely return! I love getting Dole Whip's when I go to Disney World and they have the Pineapple Dole here! I got a scoop of the Pineapple with a scoop of their vanilla custard. We also got their special Red, White & Blueberry which was vanilla custard with raspberries and blueberries. The cost of 3 dishes came out to 14 dollars which is about normal for an ice cream shop. They were knowledgeable about their custard/dole being gluten free which I appreciated. Their service was quick and very friendly. They have a nice outdoor patio in the summer to enjoy along with a drive thru if you don't want to go in to order. Best frozen custard I've ever had! It wasn't too sweet like others I've had before. They had quite a few options, I had the hot fudge sundae with banaa and my hubs had the banana split. The workers were all teens and they were super friendly and helpful. Parking spot is small because there is a drive thru (DRIVE THRU FOR FROZEN CUSTARD!! BRILLIANT!). Line went fast though. Wish we had this in the Bay Area. Wish we had better behaved teens with strong work ethic in the Bay Area. LOL! Cause these teens who work here would be a great example. You need to definitely head over to this spot. Great service and the best FROZEN CUSTARD! read more

Went to Adele's with my sister recently as a lot of locals recommended the area. They have a dine-in and drive through option; we chose the drive thru, but it's a little chaotic as the line often goes into the parking lot area. They have a lot of custard flavors but only had 5 available the day we went. My sister got the flavor of the day, which was caramel cashew, and I got pomegranate Dole whip. It was good; I was a little sad that they don't have a wide range of flavors available daily but I think it's worth a try and they give you a fairly large portion. The pomegranate Dole whip was okay; if I went back, I would definitely get a custard instead. Overall, not a bad spot if you're craving something cold and sweet on a hot day. Will try and see if I can get indoor seating the next time I go. read more

We stopped in and thought Adele's was a cute little custard shop. With lots of seating out on the patio and not so much seating inside, it's the type of place that you'd want to stop for a treat and either take your treat outside or take it home in your car. Speaking of cars, there's also a drive-through, so yay. Overall, we liked the custard. Rich, creamy, thick and delicious. They have one of those custard machines churning out custard behind the counter so you know the custard you are eating is fresh. I was also surprised to find a menu of sandwiches and other non-dessert options. Service was fine. Like most ice cream shops, largely teenagers. But proficient and friendly. I think my biggest complaint honestly was that for the money, we got almost no custard. We both ordered a turtle sundae, which came with lots of ooey gooey fudge and caramel, nuts and a generous helping of what I believe was homemade whipped cream. But the actual amount of custard in the sundae was almost non-existent. I'm not sure what it's like when you get just plain custard with no extras, but I couldn't help but think that the "scoops" in our two-scoop sundaes were pretty light. Maybe a fluke, maybe not. We'll have to try it again to know for sure I think. So three stars for now, with room for an upgrade. read more

Ice cream tends to be an enjoyable Gluten free dessert most of the time, so as a Gluten free person, I was excited to have a sweet treat at Adele's. However when I visited Adele's in excelsior, I was extremely disappointed. I asked an employee if the chocolate ice cream was gluten free; a simple flavor, and to my surprise she responded no. So I asked, what do you have that is gluten free? She was able to come up with 3 flavors out of the many on the menu. One was vanilla and the other two were variations of dairy-free strawberry. What is it that Adele's are putting in flavors like Pineapple, Blueberry, and even regular strawberry that makes it not gluten free. I think even the regular customer should be concerned about what they are putting in their body when they eat at this establishment. Do better Adele's. read more

Adele's is amazing! The staff is super fun and friendly and I always leave with a big smile on my face. One of my favorite flavors is toffee but it's more of a limited edition flavor.
