First time at Adela's and a very good visit. Service was fantastic, no complaints. Very attentive, answered all questions. The restaurant is also very clean. Decided on the Burrito-Birria with fries. The food arrived via robot ( ice touch) and looked delicious. The Burrito was very good. The flavor was fantastic. I had to knife and fork it because it was so full of Birria that it fell apart. I met a couple friends here for drinks last week and I will say that our waiter was lovely and very attentive. However, we all ordered margaritas, and for some reason for only mine, without asking, they upgraded mine to top shelf and I almost fell out of my chair when I got the bill. It was $36 for two margaritas. We go to a really nice upscale Mexican restaurant in Charlotte sometimes and even there the margaritas are not so expensive. Before tax came out to $17 a margarita! That's honestly insanity. I have never paid that much for a margarita, not even on vacation. read more

Adela's was our pick for my 78th birthday lunch with our family. My daughter and her husband had never been there before and LOVE Mexican food. They were very excited by the menu. My son-in-law and I are guacamole lovers and he was quite pleased. Chips are great as well! He must have sneakily mentioned to the wait staff that it was my birthday and after I couldn't eat another bite of food, the robot and entire wait staff came to our table, put a giant sombrero on my head, presented me with a birthday sweet tortilla with message in chocolate and sang to me! Far, far better than their Lancaster location. This one is clean and roomy, occupying the former 701 restaurant & bar. The menu is a book, so take your time. The bar is still there and they have a number of flavored margaritas, so sip as you browse the menu. We had come early for dinner, so the staff was kinda sleepy, just beginning to get back into service. The prices seem high for Mexican food. Carnitas $17.99. Three cheese enchiladas $8.99. Margaritas $11.99 each. A side of lettuce (!) $1.25. With tax, $70.25. For very basic meals & drinks. That said, it is convenient to Sun City and the other options are more commercial, so we will most likely come back. read more

Great staff, full bar, has one to two event spaces. Family friendly environment, more upscale than typical traditional Mexican restaurant. The owner Lucio, the GM Jonathan and all the staff are very professional, friendly, and gave 5-star plus service! We had a company event there with over 100 people they accommodated everyone, wonderful to plan and work with for such a large group of people. Jonathan followed up and it was all hands on deck to make sure all of our attendees were happy throughout the event! We were one of five tables sat for dinner around 6pm on a Thursday. The service we received was sub par, and the prices were pretty high compared to other restaurants in the area. Our waitress barely spoke English which one would think is a good sign at a Mexican restaurant until our order came out wrong. Got the fajitas for two, asked for corn and flour tortillas for my wife and I. My wife asked for no beans with her sides but I wanted beans. We got only corn tortillas for both and no beans at all with my plate. The fajitas sides consisted of dry pico, maybe a teaspoon of sour cream and lettuce that definitely wasn't fresh, No cheese no avocado. We had to ask for some more sour cream and received a very small bowl of it and got charged an additional $1.25 for it! For what they charge and lack of quality service we will not be returning. read more

Amazing that this place is open on Mondays when little waxhaw is usually closed that day! First time dining in for lunch and was blown away by the extensive menu. Ordered a jalapeno margarita and it was delicious. Thought the queso and the lunch specials were awesome. I ordered a steak burrito and the steak was seasoned amazingly. Enjoyed everything from the Servers to the Robot delivery droid. The only thing that tainted my experience was the faucets in the bathroom. They should be just switched out if they can't be cleaned. They could pull up the balance (balance was greater than our bill), but not use it and ended up having to pay out of pocket. Located in downtown Waxhaw this is the place for Mexican food. The best thing being their birria tacos. A little pricey but there is so much flavor in the tacos and the broth. Amazing. I have had the opportunity to eat here 3 times. After this third time, I questioned whether I genuinely wanted to return. The third time happened to be my Mothers birthday. The food has consistently carried mucho sabor(flavor) in a way that is very unique within this cuisine, which I appreciate. The flavor stands out the most. The ambience carries a colorful essence that I also appreciate. The customer service, unfortunately, I do not. We had the same server upon this third return that we had our second visit. He is friendly, but definitely needs to be supported in strengthening his attentiveness and asking for refills- which would increase the quality of the experience to 5 stars. We were never asked for a refill on our third visit. The front of the house managers are pleasant. My mother also commented when we got home that she didn't really feel genuine vibes when she had her birthday song sang to her, which definitely let me down. I typically choose El Rey because they have excellent customer service, but we have chosen to patron for support. However, this last visit was very sub par. read more

Adela's is among a growing list of area restaurants passing the credit card processing fees along to their customers now. The check has a "cash total" and a "card total" that tacks on 3.7%. I bet most people never notice....and btw, the Tip guide showing how much a 16%, 18% or 20% tip would be is calculated based on the HIGHER Card Total so you're paying 3.7% on your tip too! read more

Service was great but we found the drinks to be sub par and despite the extensive menu, it didn't have the usuals my fiancée and I like to get at a Mexican restaurant. I got the Adela margarita and it tasted very watery, not very tasty. The drink was also quite expensive and I did not end up finishing it. Our preferred entrees are a shrimp and veggie quesadilla, but there was no option on the menu - ended up ordering the veggies quesadilla with shrimp on the side. Also there was no steak burrito option with rice and beans. I usually think those two things are staples at an American Mexican restaurant but we were disappointed the menu here didn't quite offer them. The food we got was hot but nothing great. At least the portions were a good size. The chips and salsa were also decent. The ambiance is very nice with a great bar, it's unfortunate the food did not live up to the look! read more
