Warning to Anyone Considering or Currently Using Addison Storage I was a tenant with Addison Storage for many years, and I feel it's important to share what really goes on behind the scenes. Please read carefully -- these are red flags you should look for if you're renting here or already have a unit. Planned Auctions Before They Tell You I discovered records showing Addison Storage scheduled and paid for public auction ads (in the Sun Sentinel and Florida Public Notices) weeks in advance, even while still accepting my payments. For example, an ad order was placed on April 4, 2025, to run starting April 8, long before they informed me my units were "up for auction." Ledger Imports & Deletions Their ledgers show repeated "imports" and "updates," which are not explained to tenants. These changes conveniently reset legal compliance deadlines -- making it easier for them to auction your belongings even if you're paying. If you see "ledger imports" on your account, ask what they mean and get it in writing. Partial Payments Don't Stop Auctions Even if you're paying down your balance, their ledger clearly states: "Partial payments will not stop delinquency -- must have zero balance." They will keep you technically "delinquent" no matter what, which positions your unit for auction. Payments Misapplied to Keep You Delinquent Small payments I made were applied in a way that kept the system showing I still owed for prior months -- even though those months were already paid in full. This made it appear I was always behind, no matter how much I paid. Cancellations & Reposts Addison has a history of cancelling auctions and re-posting notices, which resets their timeline and keeps units legally "auction eligible." This tactic makes it appear they are being fair, when in reality they are buying themselves more time to auction your items. Refusal to Provide Insurance Info By Florida law, tenants are entitled to insurance information. Addison Storage has refused to disclose their insurance provider when asked, which is a major red flag for transparency and compliance. For Anyone Considering or a Current Customer Please take the time to review all your past invoices and payments. It doesn't hurt to be reassured that your account is being handled correctly. If you notice anything unusual, ask for documentation immediately. What This Means for You If you rent here, monitor your ledger closely. Watch for sudden "imports," check public notice websites for your name, and demand all communication in writing. Don't rely on verbal assurances from management. I lost my belongings even though I made multiple payments, because Addison Storage was already planning the sale behind the scenes. Don't let the same happen to you. If you are a current or former customer, please check your own records and speak up if you notice the same tactics. OK, I must admit it: I have stuff [large professionally packed cartons] in this storage unit which was moved from Washington DC in June 2005 (11 years ago, yeah, 11 years) that I have never opened. Yes, I admitted it. And, I have read numerous articles on why it is not cost effective to store "stuff" for extended periods of time, as most people never really use the stuff they have stored, as well as cost/benefit analysis from the WSJ and NYT which measures how much collectible art and other items must accrue in value to justify the storage. All that being said, "the stuff" is still in storage. Note, I have nothing stored in our garage at home, we actually use it for our car, a strange thing in South Florida! I'll share my plan to address this at the end of review. Addison Storage was opened about 10 years ago, was built from the ground up, and is flawlessly maintained. All the interior units are climate and humidly controlled, the public space such as the hallways and bathrooms are spotless. It is well lit, with lighting automatically turning on/off based on motion. An office is staffed weekdays from 9-6pm, and half day on Saturday. Office staff have always been pleasant, and the owner, Dan Frost, who I met when first renting, is a gentleman. Security monitors are placed throughout the facility, and the office has about a dozen monitors showing various perspectives of their property, both interior and exterior. To access the property, before you get to the building, you must enter a security code at their gate, which is sometimes unlocked during the days, but not always. To get further than the first floor, that is, to take the elevator to the second floor if your unit is located there, one must enter your security code in the elevator, or else it does't close the door! Once you enter your code at the gate, or in the elevator, the monitor shows that someone is accessing the property. Once you lift your sliding door up for your unit, a motion sensor registers that the unit has been opened. So, Addison Storage has records of every access to the property using your code, elevator access, and the opening of your storage unit. When you leave, you must key in your code again, to show that you are departing the property. If you don't enter your code, the gate remains locked. Bottom line, it is a well maintained, well secured state of the art storage facility, what one would expect in East Boca. [Marqus, eat your heart out, Boca bests you again]. There used to be a waiting list for units, suggest you check and add your name if you are interested. So, what's my plan to divest myself of the majority of the stuff in that storage unit? After I clean up my "stuff" at our home, I will then tackle the storage unit, and gift or sell the artwork, antique clock collection accumulated over 50 years, and all that luggage which we don't use cause its too large or weighs too much, and I may even part with the huge dog kennel I have which used to house Izzy, our pure bred sato who was adopted from Vieques, PR in 1995, and died in 2008. This building doesn't even seem like a storage unit!!! From the moment you drive up through the iron gates, you feel safe and your valuables secure. The units are spacious and air conditioned. There is a lovely lady at the front office which looks pristine. For Palm beach county storage that's as nice as a studio apt the prices are just right. read more

The Addison Storage is the very best storage facility I have ever dealt with. The staff is amazing. The facility is secured with iron gates with security system. It's clean and whatever size unit, air conditioned or not, they can accommodate. I have had my unit for over 5 years. Hats off! read more
