When you're the only person who looks like you in the place and you're surrounded by brown people speaking other languages, you've likely found an authentic place with great food. Ittadi was definitely that place. They have a huge buffet of food, TONS of options, but you can also tell the food is fresh. And the place was so busy that you know the food didn't sit long and was refreshed often. We tried the coconut samosa, which was large in size. It was the perfect combo of savory and sweet. We also had the egg chop, which is a hard boiled egg covered in spicy mashed potatoes and fried in a crispy breadcrumb coating. It was super spicy (in a good way) and delish. It came with a side of onions and greenery. We also had the haleem, which is a comfort dish, made of lentils. It was so warm and filling. Absolutely delicious. The employees/owners were so kind. They were really invested in us liking our food. When we didn't eat everything, they were concerned, but we told them we were on a food crawl and had to save space, otherwise we would have devoured everything. Again, this was my favorite place of the whole crawl, and I would make the trek back over to Queens just for this food.

We did receive rotten sauce one time, but never again. During Ramadan, I was really craving an Iftar box meal. My dad bought me one from this place, and it came with biryani, fritters, and fruits. I was honestly scared to try the biryani because I usually dislike the ones outside because they smell, have too much oil, or just straight up taste bad. But honestly, the biryani was so good... I was really surprised, and definitely proven wrong. I would get it again! I did find one of the fritters in the Iftar box to be mid, but I cannot remember which one as it isn't something I have ordered often. My main reasons for giving this restaurant 4 stars is because I agree with one of the other reviews that mention the ambiance not being so good. I don't think this is somewhere you could sit down and have a meal in quiet without getting overstimulated as it is next to the train station on Diversity Plaza, where a lot of people just hang out. This is one of the to-go places where people often get tea or snacks from, so you'll see people going in and out A LOT. As for service, I'm not sure what to say because it's always been my dad who ordered and dealt with the staff, so I can't say much. But he usually tells us if any restaurant staff makes him mad, so as far as I recall, he never complained about the service. Also, I have never tried the main course food items, such as pulao and roast. So I cannot comment on how those taste, but reading the other views, it seems they weren't too good. And I'm seeing that people had complaints about cleanliness of the restaurant and how there is a lack of proper plumbing systems. I guess I never noticed this because I never actually sat in the restaurant.. Maybe I should eat from here less often?

The food is exceptionally delicious, with different levels of spice so you don't have to sacrifice flavor. Their biryani options are top notch, and not too dry! And their meat stews and curries are full flavored and nuanced. The tables and seating are spacious and comfortable and very clean. I cannot stress enough HOW RARE this is for Jackson Heights. You can not ask for a better location for a group dinner! We paid about $50 per person and had enough leftovers for 2 more meals. Would love to come back here again!

Just homely Bengali food. Not restaurant types... Don't go with so many expectations…read more I have heard about this from my Bengali friends, though I am not Bengali I just love Bengali food, much much variety which I never saw in other cuisines. Don't get me started on fish types and their various preparation. I knew it's not a proper restaurant so my expectation was not like that. We went there with 3 other Bengali friends. You have to go to counter to see all the food items and then you can choose whatever you want. We ordered so many things, alu-chokha-baigan bharta- alu bhaja- mutton curry- ilish mach-prawn curry- some fish with gobhi- fish fry Out table was not sufficient for keeping all the dishes. My fellow Bengali friends were really happy to see this and we liked the food. Yup, we liked it. As it was more like home food and not fancy Bengali restaurant type. Everything was bringing memories from Kolkata homes. And it is not even expensive. Every item was from $4-$12. We four were there and it was $72 only and we had 6-7 dishes. Only bad thing is that from Jersey City to Queens, we had to change 2 paths, so one person it is $11 for both ways. So we spent $44 to come here and have this food. Was it worth it? I would say NO. but yes, once in while you can come.

We initially tried a more "popular" restaurant but unfortunately there was no seating left. We tried to scramble and find another restaurant and found Dhaka Garden. For the iftar special you can select one of their premade boxes with channa, some fried vegetables (eggplant and cauliflower), a date, biryani, some pakoras and a jelabi. You can also select a la crate items from their buffet menu like kebabs, tandoor chicken etc. We ordered some naan, kebabs, haleem, and mango lassi. We loved the kebabs, naan and pakoras. We couldn't finish everything so we ended up taking most of it home. The service here was great throughout from everyone there especially as they were fasting as well. They always made sure we had everything from utensils and fresh toppings for the haleem. I would definitely come back here to support this business!

So this time one of my friend took me there saying they renovated the place. So I decided to give it a try, like always place is very busy. But it did look much better & cleaner. It's an authentic Bangladeshi restaurant, also share the space with a Tibet restaurant on the corner! Food is 100% halal & service is always great. I love their sweets too. We tried traditional Bangladeshi polau, beef bhuna( curry), chicken shikh kabab. Curry was pretty good but too sweet for my test. The beef curry reminded me of wedding food. I definitely wished the curry was spicy tho! While I was eating my food I saw they put coriander leaves on beef tehary, never in my widest dream I thought I would seen something like this! Improvising is one thing but ruining your own traditional food this way is just not except-able ! I was very upset..!
