This is a strong recommendation, as John is an elite guy who was easy to interact with and was extremely good to work with on our project. We are grateful to a business associate who tipped us off to his outstanding service. His pricing was fair and honest. He handled our items without an issue and was highly communicative and kind. Moving items, particularly those of your elderly parents, can be so anxiety-laced, and John removed all of the problems with his kindness and professionalism. Adams Van Lines make is difficult to write reviews on other sites. They scour the negative reviews and automatically delete them and replace good reviews with old dates and publish new dates. Came a day late, dropped my massage chair, damaged my digital piano, and dining room table. Lost the screws to the handles on my refrigerator. Coffee table also damaged. All items were brand new at the source location, when they got to my new place they forged my signature that checked off all items as received and in great shape. Tried BBB and my credit card company and all that happened was that Adam Van Lines offered $75 refund for $4k in damaged items. Hate to be passive aggressive on Yelp and I know I won't see any money back but would like to warn others of dealing with this disaster of a company. read more

Adams Moving charges $150 per hour per person with a two-hour minimum. They do not charge for drive time but they deduct the drive time from the number of hours booked. This includes the time it takes for them to drive back home.They do a free estimate in advance. If they cannot get everything moved in the amount of time booked, they will leave it undone. Retired military and off-duty police. If they say they will help, they will show up. They may require you to wire them money in advance (wiring money costs a fee from both banks so may add an additional $50+ to the cost). They may ask to be paid in cash at the end of the job and will provide a receipt. They have insurance and are bonded. They worked quickly and efficiently. They were very good about keeping track of their time. They made certain the storage units were packed neatly and made it easy for me to get to things. The least expensive way to work with these (or any) movers is to pre-pack everything yourself. Sort through your things and sell, donate, or throw everything in advance so you don't pay to move stuff you don't want. The more you are prepared, the faster your move will go. It will also cost less. In general, a move often takes longer than you think and costs more than you anticipate. Best to find friends who can help you pack and prepare in advance. Two other movers said the were coming and didn't show; I appreciate the guys at Adams actually showed up. read more

I hired Adams Van Lines over a month ago to move me from Arizona to Michigan. I had a great phone call with Chad, and he got me all squared away. I paid $500 extra for them to do a single day pick up. After the initial phone call, I hadn't heard from them, so a few weeks before the move, I texted Chat/called Colina/called the company to get information about my move. Finally, the day before the scheduled move, they called me and told me they were unable to pick me up as their scheduled delivery driver backed out last minute. They tried to have me push my move off a few weeks until they could find another driver, but I declined. I had an incredibly tight schedule and could not put off the move by a few additional weeks (not to mention I had to be out of my lease). What frustrated me the most is the back office claims they attempted to call me numerous times and leave voicemails; however, I don't have any messages from them or phone call attempts, and I even checked with my phone carrier. I don't like companies that lie and pull the rug out from under their customers in a time of need. Thankfully, I found a different company who is able to move me in short notice, but the way this company handled this is incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate. Nightmare, disaster, thousands of dollars gone in lost and damaged items. This company is a BROKER, which means they hire a carrier to pick up and move your stuff. I thought I was saving money to hire the cheaper Adams, but it ended up costing me thousands to replace my missing and broken furniture and electronics. They picked up late, and then delivered some of my stuff two months late. When I asked for a partial refund, Adams blamed all the problems on the carrier, BUT Adams was the one who selected and hired the carrier for me. Why did they hire such a terrible carrier to move my stuff? Adams encouraged me to file a claim, which took a lot of time, plus I had to relive the trauma. Their settlement offer was less than $100. Save yourself a lot of heartache and money and hire someone else. The Adams website is all about customer service, full of glowing reviews. This is why I hired them. I should have checked out their BBB page because it tells a very different story. The BBB has added the following warning after they removed a lot of positive reviews: "BBB has been unable to confirm the authenticity of numerous reviews submitted for this business. Because BBB is unable to establish a reasonable degree of confidence about the validity of these reviews, BBB has removed reviews that may have been affected by this practice." read more

I had a contract with Adams Van Lines to move my belongings from a storage facility in California to Georgia. I paid for a specific date and delivery window. I live in Georgia, so I flew to California to oversee the loading of my belongings onto the truck Saturday, 12/3/22. Adams subcontracted to another moving company, MovePro. When MovePro arrived they immediately started claiming that the space estimate was incorrect. When Yuri from Adams Van Lines spoke to MovePro on the phone, it got quite heated. To the point where the MovePro guys were swearing profanities about Adams and complaining the whole time. Three hours later, when everything was loaded onto the truck, MovePro wanted to charge another $3k which was not on the Adams Van Lines contract estimate I signed. Because of their behavior, Adams Van Lines encouraged me to not use them and they would find another moving company later in the week. I agreed and ended up leaving California because I had a flight to catch. Adams sub contracted another moving company to arrive Thursday, 12/8/23-5 days later. My belongings were loaded without any oversight. The storage facility where my belongings were stored charged me 5 days extra storage and additional fees for their men on site to assist in the move. I asked Adams Van Lines to pay for those costs since the additional costs were due to their hiring of terrible moving company. I spent thousands of dollars flying to California to oversee the move, which didn't end up happening. Adams should offer me a discount + pay for additional storage fees but they came back with agreeing to pay me only $25/day for the delay. This is appalling given this whole terrible experience was due to Adams Van Lines and the company that THEY HIRED. Unfortunately, this is a very disappointing experience and I would never recommend Adams Van Lines to anyone. The whole situation was unacceptable and unprofessional. Steer clear away from these guys as there are better companies out there. read more

Horrid experience with moving coast to coast. Superficially underestimated the cost of the move, the estimate went up 65% when the movers came in. The movers themselves that packed and loaded our stuff were great, btw, no complaints. But it has been 19 days, and not only our stuff is not here, but nobody is giving us any information when our stuff would arrive, nor would the respond to requests for where it is currently. it is a black hole. They ignore our dispute of the cost, although we were promised that there is a claim process and claims get resolved amicably. They continue to ignore our requests for an estimate of arrival, and we are looking at spending Xmas in an empty house. We are convinced that they will hold our stuff hostage till we agree to pay them incremental amount (which we partially held back). Do not trust this company and do not do business with them. read more

Each time we have found them to be punctual, efficient, careful and kind to our residents. Some situations have required additional help and extra trips and they have always been more than happy to do whatever it takes to get the job done. I can't speak highly enough of Leon and his crews. All furniture arrived damaged beyond repair and two weeks late . They wrapped furniture with paper . The bins were broken and my personal stuff fell off. They lost the box of my kitchen pots and pans .Later while trying to call to complain all numbers were either out of service or telling me these are just a call center . Seems like a scam company. Will definitely not stop At this and will seek all legal ways to get my rights back. read more

Adam's Van Lines is Not recommended, worst moving experience ever. They don't follow there inventory practices which caused us an additional $4000. The packing was horrible using our clothes, rugs, sheets, pillows, etc as packing materials. They left many things behind. Due to having horses and they started on third day we had to leave before they were done packing. Caused me a weekend to retrieve the rest of our stuff. I could go on but be assured horrible things can happen if arranged by Adam's Van Lines. read more

I had a very specific itemized list of every box and loose item that I would be shipping, they charged me $600 extra claiming that I had more boxes than I had told them. That simply wasn't true. If anything my cubic feet was less than the estimate because my boxes were smaller than the standard on the estimate form. I was told that if I didn't pay the $600 they would keep my stuff, or throw stuff away and only send part of it, and then said I could contest it once my stuff was delivered and I could get a refund. I contested it, and they still claimed I had more boxes. They claimed their warehouse inventory said so, but I do not know what they were counting because I only had what I was shipping, and I know how much I was shipping because I numbered every single thing on my own. When I explained the discrepancy to their billing office, I could only speak to one individual, who told me size of the boxes/items didn't matter when calculating cubic feet- which is completely incorrect, as that is the whole point. It was incredibly frustrating and had I not been unnecessarily overcharged and threatened, it would have been a great moving experience. Additionally, my boxes and items were covered with a black tar-like gunk. I had to keep everything in my garage as I didn't want to bring it into the house. read more

Can I give zero stars? The one star is for the great rep who originally took my call. She was great! But, once we forked over the deposit, it was all down hill from there. Lost, damaged items. They point fingers at anybody else and don't take responsibility for their lack of communication and what I perceive to be nothing but lies. They pick up in one truck, unload in a random warehouse, hire another truck to pick up, and showed up days late. It would have been cheaper to toss it all off a cliff. This is a prime example of why moving companies get such a bad reputation. I can't say anything positive about the experience. Lesson learned. read more

I was quoted 150.00 an hour with a 4 minimum for a move. I was told there wasn't any hurry. 3 men came and worked like the house was on fire. When the bill came up they charged 240.00 an hour for 3 men. When one left early the charge went down to 150.00. The wrapped the furniture very well and were very careful with it. The movers were in a big hurry. MyMother is 90 and this made her very nervous. When I asked them to slow down they did. Next time I would get an estimate, have them come and look at the house and put the price in writing. Nothing was like the owner said it would be at all. When I called the owner he was defensive and said he would not apologize but would take responsibility. I don't think this company takes advantage of senior citizens. read more

Leon is fantastic. We had a unique situation, being out of state and in a pinch. Leon helped move my son's stuff out of his dorm room and into storage for us. His fees were very reasonable and his service was top notch. After receiving my bill, I had a question, and he made an adjustment to my favor. Super friendly.
