This crew is AMAZING!! I've used them twice now and will not use anyone else. They are very fast and have all of the equipment needed to move your belongings. We had a massive king bed that wouldn't fit anywhere. Not only did they grab their own tools, take it apart, and get it moved, they put it back together once we had it in place. They have great attitudes and NEVER COMPLAIN. The first time I used them the power was out due to the derecho storm - they moved our furniture down to the basement with no air conditioning using only flash lights for lighting and did not complain one time!!!!! The Affordable Movers came when I needed them most with my move! They were flexible and worked with the date I moved, including having reasonable rates per hour (rph). My only critiques would be, I had a few items broken & ripped and were noticed when I finally started unpacking later that weekend. They weren't the major items moved and I didn't recognize them until following the 2-day period that they put in their contract to report broken things, so I was kinda SOL. Another small thing I wasn't favorable of, was the fact that they finished the job around 3:49pm (yes I checked), but put their return time to the facility as being 4:30pm. In actuality, it takes 15mins or less to get from the facility from where we finished, so I had to pay a couple dollars more because of the time they logged (contract said things can be in 15min increments so it could've been more realistic. I appreciated their services, work ethic of the men, and flexibility but I don't think I'd book with them again. read more

Several weeks ago, we contacted The Affordable Movers (RDJ Hauling & Delivery LLC) that does residential and commercial moving to help us with the move of some very heavy furniture from one location to our home. And, in our home, some of the furniture would be moved upstairs and other parts downstairs. The owner, Raul de Jesus, was extremely polite, gave us a very competitive quote and was able to squeeze us into his schedule at a time that was convenient for us. Our experience with Mr. Jesus and his company was exemplary. They arrived on time at one location, moved the furniture quickly and efficiently to and within our residence and was done all within the budget he had quoted us. All in all, with nearly 17 moves under our belts (some as expatriates) in the last 30 years, this was among the most pleasant and efficient we have experienced. read more

I had an "mixed" experience with this company. I will give the good and the not so good, which led to my 3 star rating. Good: On packing day Raul the owner showed up with another man - Glen I believe. They did a fast and good job of packing all that could be packed. He told me to get way too many boxes, but I am hoping to return them for a credit. He told me where to get good boxes cheaply and I do appreciate that also. They were all polite and pretty careful with antiques and non-antiques. I noticed a couple of dings to the drywall at the old place once I went back to look it over, but all in all they were careful. They were on time on packing day and early on moving day, which was OK. Their fee was fair compared to other movers I checked anyway. The Bad-Not So Good: I had Raul give me an estimate before I had MANY items taken out, from furniture to smaller items. I was on a tight budget, so I gave three large furniture pieces and many other things which would have had to be packed and moved to a local auctioneer. I called Raul to come back and look at the place *after* I had furniture and many smalls removed, to see what I hoped would be a lower estimate. He came and basically said he did not know if it would make that much difference, which I felt was odd and also disappointing. Moving Day: This is when things got weird and not as good. Three guys came: Glen, who was there on pack day and two young guys in their 20's I would guess. Raul I was told was not working that day. That was fine with me. I had problems with these things: 1. They had to disassemble an electric bed and a day bed and yet they had from what I could tell, next to no basic tools with them. When it came time to move the LazyBoy chairs, (which anyone who has moved one or had one knows the back slides off and then you can move it easier, with the base being separate and back separate). The one young mover did not know how to take the back off and when he needed a screwdriver to unlock it said he had none. I gave him one of the three I had on hand and showed him how it worked. I cannot imagine being a mover and not have pliers, a screwdriver and just those kind of basic things with you in case you needed them. Loading went OK, and they were pretty fast also. I have a very bad back and other health issues, so I was eager to get to the new place and to be able to sit down, since I was in pain after about the first hour. I supervised and told them what to load first and last, so things would be easier at the other place for me. Once we got to the new place (My new apartment is at the top of 18 stairs, which are carpeted and wide and not as bad as most stairs I have seen in other new apartment buildings) they propped the security door open and moved things pretty quickly also. That day was only 82 degrees, so the heat was not a real issue as it could have been. For some reason they could not get the like new daybed frame put back together at the back on one side as it was when they took it apart. It still is not right, but until I can get someone to fix it i have a rod-pin sticking out about 3 inches on one side that should be in. Again, maybe more tools might have helped. As it got late into the day I was aching and hoping they would finish soon. Once they were done is when things went down hill. One of the young men who was taking charge of billing me (I was told I could pay by credit card) had a device he put on his "smart phone." He swiped my card several times but kept getting error messages. Glen tried. It didn't work. NOT MY FAULT. I said, "I can write you a check." They said emphatically, "We don't take checks." I said, "Well I don't have the cash to pay this. Call my bank manager and she will assure you my check will be good." They refused to do that and insisted I drive (close to rush hour traffic time) to the bank with them following. I was irritated, but did not seem to have any choice. I am sure if it had been 6 pm and that happened they would have taken a check! I moved from a nice town home and moved into an upscale WDM apartment complex. It's not like I was a deadbeat or they did not know where I lived. So I got in the car and drove with aching back and very tired to the bank. They followed me. The young "leader" at that point, came into the bank with me. My bank manager who has known me 15 yrs was there and I said, "These people do not trust my check and would not call you to make sure it was good, so I have to get cash." She was surprised, but said, "OK, tell me how much and I will give it to them." I signed a withdrawal slip and the head teller and I both told the guy with me to come to the window and she counted out the money for him. He said, "You saved a little by paying in cash." I don't think I said anything at that point. I was so tired, aching and irritated to have to drive to the dam bank I took the receipt and let him leave. This is the second time we have used Affordable Movers and they truly are the best movers ever! They are prompt, super nice and move really fast which is important when you are paying by the hour. They will take apart furniture for you like beds and more importantly, reassemble them all for you! We bought new furniture that was still in boxes and they moved it in AND found the feet for the couches and chairs and assembled it for us! They worked right through lunch without saying a word and were so polite and pleasant during a very long day. This is the only moving company I will ever use! read more

Awesome!!!! Super fast and so inexpensive! I had some stuff at my parents and in storage after moving back from Texas and they had no issues going to both places before my new apartment. It is $95 per hour with 2 guys and $45 trip charge- my 1 bedroom, 3rd floor move only took an hour and half!!! Kyle and Glenn were so nice and professional. In the past year I have used The Affordable Movers twice. First, when my daughter passed away and we had to move things out of her apartment. Second, for my own move several weeks ago. I highly recommend them. Raul, the owner, is who I always worked with on the phone. He was also at each move assisting and making sure things went smoothly. Everyone was very efficient, and most important they were sensitive to any concerns I had regarding the items they were moving. They took great care to protect my things and move quickly......very efficient. Also, very friendly. This is always appreciated! Had then help move From West Des Moines IA to Ankeny IA. They were poor to very poor in the jobs they diid. Could not get sofa upstairs, nor could they get boxes upstair. We moved from a 2nd story floor to 3 story floor apartment. The owners said could not to boxes up to Apartment because would damage concrete stairs with hand truck. Paid over $500a word to the wise DON'T USE FOR BIG JOBS. read more

The moving crew (Kyle and Glen) arrived right on time and walked through the house to determine their plan of attack. After that, they got right to work. They wrapped all our furniture so it was well protected. The truck was very efficiently packed. Throughout what turned out to be a long day, the crew worked efficiently and carefully. All our possessions made the move in perfect shape. There was some minor damage to the house we were moving out of, but the owner (Raul) was fantastic about handling it.
