Adams is a must go whenever I'm in the area! This is my second location and I enjoyed my visit. I came to see the plant selection and the candy! I bought several items the candy counter. I got a selection of the fruit slices for my dad and niece. I got some truffles and a selection of chocolate also. The ladies at the counter were very honest about their opinion of the selection and gave great suggestions. The selection is so varied and there is something for everyone. I was able to get a lot of items for $40. The items I tasted were all good. I love anything with caramel and marshmallow and they had a lot to choose from. I hope to try the hot bar and deli sections the next time I come to visit. Adams Fairacre Farms 636 NY-211 Middletown, NY 10941 (Review 40 in 2024 and 840 overall)

Very clean store. Prices are a little higher here but I LOVE that they sell local merchandise from small hometown vendors. Store is always stocked too. Staff is very friendly.

    Herb crusted cod

Everything Always a special find there and at all locations I've been to Produce beautiful, fresh and fairly priced This trip included fresh fish purchased I bought 2 prepared pieces of fish from the fish counter: herb crusted cod and Mediterranean crusted salmon. Baked in toaster oven for 20 minutes on 400F degrees on piece of foil and a little bit of water so as not to stick. Flavor outstanding and do fresh no stinky odor thereafter. The young man at the counter gave me the suggestions for the pieces I selected. Each was $4.99 and a nice portion.

The Newburgh location is a peaceful ride every time, but Middletown is better.

Admittedly, I fall a lot closer to the latter, but I appreciate the juxtaposition. According to the sign outside, they specialize in fresh dressed game birds, undoubtedly sourced by the group of guys running the attached gun shop (which is also decorated by some local taxidermist). I can't understand why they have a photo of that reality TV star that used to fire people up on the wall, but that's neither here nor there. The staff did seem annoyed that we wanted to spend way too much money getting sandwiches and groceries with them, but at least they were efficient, and the selection is eclectic and fun. They've got fresh wild turkey eggs, a surprisingly great selection of cheese, all kinds of house-cured meats, as well as the standard array of deli meats with which they'll make you some pretty decent sandwiches. There's also all sorts of sauces, jams, pickled pineapple (!) local honey, beer, cider, some bizarrely priced minced dried onion...I had a blast poking around and overpaying for a random assortment of edible delights (although some were more delightful than others). I'd like to come back with more of a plan to try their poultry, or at least some fresh ground beef, the bacon, and more.
