Solid amount of parking available of this very cool, "old school" butcher shop. In this instance, "old school" means an absolute full service butcher shop, where they treat the customers well! It felt like a family affair, the nice young man that took my order gave helpful advice. They cut "country pork chops" to order, they cooked very nicely in a sauce. I also picked up their sweet pork sausage, also great in the sauce. Perhaps the highlight for me were a couple of super tender and beefy NY strips! Had a great experience at Wyckoff Prime Meats and I'll be back!

What changed? * As noted last time, this is definitely Northern style barbecue here. I had said before it's not very BBQ inside, but I'll reframe that. You still absolutely get friendly service and not a very long wait. * I said before the meats are clearly prepared previously and just warmed to the order. I don't think I'll say that again. The meats were perfectly done, moist throughout, perfectly seasoned and smoky on the outside. * When I had gotten the two-meat plate, the brisket fell apart on my fork. The pulled pork was the opposite of what I expected - in fact, I'm wondering if they gave me pork or chicken now that I think about it... but it was good. Didn't occur to me at the time, but that might explain some of the taste and appearance. * This time, I got the ribs. A half rack of ribs filled me up, and YUM. Some ribs fell off the bone a little more than others, but oh boy was that perfectly good. My parents loved their chicken and brisket. * I think they read my review about how much meat you get for what you pay. It's not cheap here, but we all felt that we got a good amount of meat, mac 'n' cheese, or whatever else we ordered. It's great when a place listens! * Last time they upcharged me a dollar to swap cole slaw for cornbread. This time they gave me chipotle BBQ instead of regular BBQ without any charge at all. So again, maybe they read and responded! Still loving the flavors, textures, sauces, cornbread, and mac. This is a winner and earned the fifth star - we're all coming back!

Every Christmas roast and Thanksgiving turkey has come from them. Their chicken ( white meat) is unbelievably tender. Their frozen foods are great and their condiments are very German - red cabbage...etc. They do sell sausages made locally from the Alpine. There are multiple seats in the dining area. There is a unique procedure when ordering the burger. A customer may select one of three blends: steak blend, SSB (short rib, sirloin, & brisket), and dry aged. I selected steak blend, which was 80% beef and 20% fat. At first, I was filled with concern as I observed the specialty burger. The burger itself looked like it was sliding apart. The bun did not have any physical resemblance to a pretzel as it looked like an ordinary bun. As always, never judge a book by its cover. I took a single bite and my taste buds were in paradise. The burger was cooked medium and topped with butcher cut bacon and IPA beer cheese sauce. The thick slab of bacon strips were chewy and they melted right in my mouth. The beer cheese was so mouthwatering that I requested an additional cup. The pretzel bun may look like a regular hamburger bun, it has the texture and taste of a pretzel; it is even sprinkled with a dash of rock salt. As a bonus, a full size pitcher of water and crispy fries with a smokehouse dipping sauce are all included with the burger. Both the burger and fries can be dipping in both the smokehouse sauce and cheese sauce. These sauces are the backbone to the burger and you won't even consider supplementing anything else.
