Always trust a place that has almost 70 reviews and a near perfect 4.9 rating. The reviews don't…read morelie. New Yorkers love their delis, and if just half of them are like this one, I can see why. JJ Delicatessen has an excellent assortment of meats, cheeses and dried goods, many from European countries like Germany and Poland. My girlfriend and I ordered sandwiches on a Saturday morning. We had to wait a little over twenty minutes, and the woman advised that next time we call our orders in ahead of time because the hot sandwiches take awhile. So that's your tip for the day. But they were worth waiting for. Fairly priced, excellent quality, and came with a few sides. I got the Polish sandwich special and my girlfriend got the Mediterranean sandwich special. There is a small seating area in the deli, but we took them with us and ate them in the car. It was a great lunch that we ate right before an afternoon of hiking at High Point State Park in NJ. Highly recommend this deli!

I really wish I could rate this place higher than this, but all that comes to mind when I think of…read morethis place is 'salty.' It seems like this is something of an institution and even for first-timers like us, it's not hard to see why. It's a European-leaning local deli that is clean, well stocked with interesting goodies, and that's is a cozy dining room in the front end of the shop. The two ladies we interacted with were fairly friendly and helpful, and after an agonising few minutes looking at the menu, we decided on the Polish and Italian sandwiches (vs heroes, which are bigger, cost a bit more, and are served on a roll). What I liked was the fresh tasting pickle that comes with the sandwich. In fact, the pickle may have been my favourite thing, period. The macaroni salad and potato salad were enjoyable if not particularly memorable. Now, the sandwiches. They look great, delicious even. We could tell they were made with care. From the first bite though, so I could think was, why's this SO salty? To this day, we're not sure what the culprit(s) were. Without the saltiness, I think they could have been delicious sandwiches. Perhaps this is how the locals like it. Maybe this is some sort of traditional way to prepare these sandwiches. All I know is that it traumatised my taste buds so much that I didn't have an appetite for another meal for the rest of the day. And of course I was quite thirsty for a few hours afterwards. I hope they keep improving and stay open for many more years.

Hometown Deli - Delicious sandwiches! They're certainly not stingy on the meat either!

They load the sandwiches so much we usually have to take off some of the meat in order to eat it. You can literally make a 2nd sandwich out of all the meat they put on one sub. The sandwiches are affordable, not expensive and definitely worth the price. I always try to call ahead and order because they are so busy. The sandwiches are always ready when I get there though and I don't have to wait at all.

I decided to take a ride w my moving buddy. GPS says we are getting closer but all we see is a gas station. Wait, looking closer...the deli is in the station..expectations drop. Pull into parking space, see 'live bait' sign and wonder if we dare go in. Squishy deli area but decent selection of sandwiches so we order. I got the chicken cordon bleu on a roll and my friend got a grilled chicken bacon ranch type combo. The staff while not talkative was pleasant. Service was quick. Prices were excellent and sammies were so good. Generous portions and both the grilled and fried chicken were hot, fresh, and juicy. The rolls nice and fresh That was 6 months ago. Since then we've also had the ruben, godfather (roast beef and provolone on garlic bread), and countless Boars Head cold cut creations. Yummy Chef Salads and my mom always has me get her the tuna salad platter (makes 3 meals and she is not a light weight). Their potato and mac salads, like the tuna are made on site. Perfectly seasoned, not drowned in mayo and neither too nor too sweet. Only detractor is the horrible print menu. Things seem to be listed twice in 2 spots w 2 diff prices, and the breakfast section is pretty much one giant run on sentence with some numbers between the words. Frustrating if you want to order ahead.

Clove Brook Market Bakery Deli - Best homemade pies in all of Sussex county. Fresh fruit not preserves 2 inches thick. Best bakery hands down!

I've been going to this deli for the past two years and have noticed several things:…read more 1. The sandwiches contain less meat than they used to and are priced higher. They employ an old deli trick of piling the meat in the center of the sandwich which when cut in half makes it look like it has more meat than it really does. The recent Jersey sandwich which contains corned beef, roast beef and turkey had only two slices of corned beef. 2. Different employees will charge or not charge sales tax on the sandwiches and prepared salads. 3. The baked goods are very over priced. I mean come on, $12.95 for a 7 in. by 7 in. crumb cake (yes I measured it).. On the plus side all the employees I've encountered are always courteous and hard working. My wife likes the prepared salads but they are now over $10.00. If the price increases continue at the current rate I will have to go elsewhere although in Sussex county the choices are limited.
