Adam was friendly at the beginning. I called him to give me a quote. I was interested in a crane service because we have a septic system that I wanted to make sure it was not going to get damaged. He gave me a quote. I already had a quote from another company that we had used in the past and we were happy with their service, while I was playing phone tag with another company that gave us great service In the past. Seeing that I was not in a hurry to agree to his quote, Adam started showing unannounced on my property. He convinced me to go with his company with a climbing crew, promising he would carefully lower limbs and trunks to the ground. I agreed to the last option. The day the work was done, his crew dropped branches from great heights, dropped an approximate 20 foot stump close to the septic possibly damaging it, and then drove with a bobcat over the tank. The falling limbs also pierced the lawn. The logs were left on the grass for 10 days. Two weeks later, some people showed up to grind the stumps. Adam talked earlier about his expensive stump grinding machine, but later complained on how much he pays people to grind stumps. He didn't have all stumps ground as the contract says. I paid him about half the amount the day the trees were cut (he had me write the check not to him or his company, but to a different individual). He also sent by mail a 20% discount coupon if the work was done during the spring season. The trees were cut on May 4. The day the stumps were ground, I wrote him another check for the balance minus the 20% coupon amount and mailed it the first business day after that. He acknowledged its receipt two days later, but is refusing to cash the check. Now he does not want to honor the coupon, claiming he already used it in the quote (it is not mentioned in the contract, Adam did not come up with this excuse until the day he got the second check, and doesn't even realize that his excuse does not make sense because in that case his price before coupon would have been higher than the job done with a crane). Even though he has had the check in his possession for almost a month now that he refuses to cash, Adam is threatening to take me to court and put liens on my properties for that money. While chatting with me, Adam also asked inappropriate questions about my relationship with my husband and asked how we can afford to have 2 houses, none of these having anything to do with tree work. We were never sued by anyone in the past because we always pay our bills on time. If you need tree work, and you stumble over our experience with Adam's tree described here, I hope you find it useful. The two other companies we used who did a great job for us at reasonable prices and took great care of our property are Royer (who used a crane and police detail and was done with a similar work for less money in 3 hours, including log removing and stump grinding) and ALZ. I am not related or affiliated with any of these companies, except for hiring them as paying customers. read more
