I seriously have never written a review before, but after the disaster that Rich fixed at our pool, I wanted to thank Adam Pools publicly! We have had our large, in ground pool for about six years. The large business we used in the past to service our pool and equipment lost their key employee the spring of 2014. Needless to say, everything went downhill fast in their service department. When the lights indicated low salt, the kids they sent out kept dumping in more salt. When our pool was full of scale, the kid said it was probably debris from our pavers blowing in, when our heater began to clang loudly, the kid told us to keep it running to see if the scale eventually would work it's way out. Needless to say, the pool was gross all summer and the heater completely broke down. I did not want another season of that, so before the spring of 2015, I began to check out different companies on the internet. I came across Adam Pools and it caught my eye because they had no hesitation of servicing pools they had not installed and they had amazing reviews, very satisfied customers. So I called and Rich and he quickly returned my call and was out in a couple of days! To make a very long story a little shorter, after going over our huge system, Rich and his wonderful team, found that all that scale was because the salt generator had not been cleaned. In fact, it was destroyed, all bent inside either from the build up or someone trying to scrape it off instead of cleaning it properly with a certain type of acid. The reason the "low salt" light was on was because the salt generator was not working, so dumping all that salt without the generator processing it, caused tons of scale, which ruined all our filters and destroyed our heater. Rich worked for weeks to replace the broken equipment and get everything balanced and clean. I am thrilled with the outcome! We had a crystal clear pool we were proud of this summer so we had extra pool parties with the kids' friends and our family. Rich is so pleasant and explains everything he does and why he does it. We are now loyal customers and I tell everyone I know with pools about the wonderful service from Rich and company at Adam Pools! read more

If you enjoy being taken advantage of, spoken down to, and for your pool equipment to be serviced by men not qualified to do so, then these are your guys! Over the summer, Adams pools charged me large amounts for troubleshooting a disposable part of my pool filtration system. I contacted Adams pools because my salt generator wasn't working. Rich spent 4 months trying to get my salt generator to work only to tell me that he contacted the Pentair representative and learned the part had expired. At no point did Rich acknowledge he didn't know anything about Pentair products (even though it's one of the largest pool equipment manufacturers), nor did he research them. At the very least, he should have been upfront and said he didn't know what he was doing and that there would be an expensive learning curve. Rich refuses to consider even a partial refund for the unnecessary troubleshooting and instead states he's not an expert on different pool systems. This is ironic, since that's what I hired him for. During our last phone call, he hung up the phone on me after shouting at me and being disrespectful. Please read the BBB and Angie's List verified reviews of Adams Pool's, be wary of many of the other reviews on Yelp/Google written by relatives of the owner, and then hire an expert instead! Edit to add: Rich, the owner, has added lying to his repertoire. I never asked for anything for free and paid for every service visit. He never gave me advice or provided instructions. He left each appointment without resolving the issue saying to wait and see if the problem is fixed and to call him if it wasn't. He took advantage of the fact that I was unaware the pentair salt cell expires which requires replacement not service (similar to a furnace filter) and then claimed not to be an expert on all pool systems. If Rich didn't know that all salt cells expire, he shouldn't be in the pool business. It wasn't until the phone call following his last visit, he said he just was given information about the salt cell, that it has expired and must be replaced. This came after many service calls and months of paying him hundreds and hundreds of dollars to troubleshoot, inspect, and leave without doing anything. During our last phone call, I requested we find a resolution to the situation and stated I felt taken advantage of, he shouted at me and hung up the phone. Adams Pool and Spas nonexistent costumer service, dishonest business practices and claims of being experts in this industry while Rich (the owner) simultaneously stated he is not an expert on my system (suprising because Pentair is a big name in the industry) earned them this review. There was no threat, coercion or statement made to him regarding this review. I'm hoping this candid review can prevent at least one person from making the mistake of hiring Adam's Pools, who are self professed non-experts on pools but who excel at taking advantage of people and unethical business practices. read more

Adam pools is a farce of a business. Be aware of someone like Rich always wanting a ton of money. His work has no value always promising awarrantee for his work.yet when something goes wrong is never there when you need help. I had put in a new liner cost me $6000 but first I needed a cement job for my pool to make everything even in my pool the liner was put in pool was filled at the end of year never got to use it. Next year pool was opened. Ripples were at the shallow end. I called Rich to come and fix it. By the wY he used my photo for the first the pictures on his website without asking me. 2 of them was for the install of pool, looks great doent it. The 3rd one was what happened when we first opened the pool the next year with the ripples in it. I find it ironic that he says they fix it when that happens. In fact he refused to fix his own mistakes. Don't hire this guy he sucks it will be your worst nightmare!!!!! read more

Very disappointed in the service provided by Adam Pools. I was referred to "Rich" by a friend to close my pool this year. Set up an appointment & was left hanging - they never showed up. This is not how you do business in Naperville. I'll be sure to let my friends know about this. read more

WE HAD TO GET POLICE INVOLVED. If I could give 0 stars I would. We had an appt with Rich. My husband and I had an appt at 3pm for him to come and close our pool and my husband planned on taking a half day at work to prepare. Around 10am I got a text from him canceling the appt with no reason given. I called him and he was SO RUDE. He admitted to me that he LET HIMSELF IN OUR BACKYARD WHILE WE WERE NOT HOME and went through all of our stuff. We DID NOT give permission for him to come onto our property while we were not home- THIS IS WHY APPTS ARE MADE. He also made a point to comment on the way our backyard looked because of dog poop- perhaps if he stuck to his appt time like a professional, we would have had it cleaned up in time for him like we had planned. This will teach me to read reviews more often moving forward. Had I done this earlier, I would have made the smart decision to NOT call Adam Pools & Spas. A police report has been made for trespassing- do not hire this man or anyone from his company. read more

Had some trouble with our spa, Rich came out and diagnosed and fixed problem. All was done quickly, professionally and now are spa is running great! He has since been back a few times to balance chemicals and for general upkeep. He is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about his trade. I feel good supporting this small business; I like that when I call for service I get to talk directly to Rich, or his wife who is also super friendly! Beats being on hold with some big company and being transferred around only to have some kid on summer break try to figure out what is wrong with my spa. I also agree with the previous review-his workers are also really knowledgeable, not just some dufas-I also have gotten on the maintenance program which in the long run will save me money as hopefully Rich can catch a problem before it becomes big and expensive. read more

Would not recommend!. Initial call went fine to schedule...one week wait. Day of appointment scheduled for 9:30 a.m., calls at 10:12 to see if he could come tomorrow....I wasn't available for his time slot....then he asks again, "what's wrong with the tub". We had already discussed on the first call what the issue was. I realized then that this wasn't such a great idea....and said let's just cancel.....he hung up on me. Not a professional! read more

Rich is a complete jerk. We had discussed making an appointment to have him service our pool on a Tuesday. I called that Tuesday morning to confirm what time he would be coming. He said afternoon - we settled on a 3 pm time. At 1:45 he called and said he was 10 min away - I reminded him we had confirmed for 3 pm. He got very heated with me and said no - we had finalized 2 pm. I told him I had an another appointment at 2 - that was why we had chosen 3. He started yelling some more on the phone - when I proceeded to ask why he was giving me so much attitude , he hung up on me. My pool was not serviced at the time we had decided AND I was yelled at for no reason. Do not recommend Adam pools - consumers should not be treated like dirt! Totally agree with Terese K. Finally came out...poured chemicals in pool...never informed me of what the chemicals were...then never returned to check pool..."everything should drop within 24-48 hours" then he could pump algae out of pool and add chemicals to even out and clear water. Texted me, sent him picture of green milky pool after 48 hours...told me sand needed changing (sand in filter brand new this year) stated $$$$ for changing sand...$$$$ for pumping algae out of pool maybe he could be out Tuesday??????..$$$ knew this wasn't the guy for me. Whole week without pool for algae problem???? seemed like he had better things to do. Took sample to Leslie, advised us on treatment and written instruction...what a waste calling a "professional"...check cleared quickly though...$250.00 for what?????????...bigger mess! read more

I'm in the process of purchasing a home and the home we have a contract on has a pool. Our home inspector doesn't inspect pools so I called around to pool companies, starting with the most local. First company couldn't come out for 6 weeks, second company hasn't returned my call yet (it's been 48 hours) even though I've talked to the sales department a few times. I decided to look a little further and came across Adam's Pools, I'm so glad I did. Rich came out the next morning for our pool inspection. He answered the phone each time I called. Talking to him on the phone I could tell he was very honest and knowledgeable. As long as all goes well with our home purchase, it looks like we found the company we will call for all of our pool needs. Thank you again Rich! read more
