This review is mainly for the front desk "employee" named Kelly at this office. Emphasis on employee because I am dumbfounded how she is still employed here or at all. Very rude and highly incompetent. No emotional intelligence and incredibly disrespectful. I've had a few negative interactions with her but this is the first time I am leaving a review to reflect that. The front desk is the face & voice of a medical office and she is not doing what needs to be done. After asking to speak to the manager Alyssa today, the front desk person hung up on me because she cannot control her emotions nor can she stand the truth she was being told. If this office keeps her employed any longer they are clearly showing their true intentions towards patient/client care which is hostile and toxic. Very upsetting and disappointing how this office is ran now. Been coming here for years for facials and the unprofessionalism I have experienced here is outrageous. WOW! Shame on you Kelly! Dr. Cohen my mother came to you and got an eye procedure done years ago and referred me to your in house esthetician Aggie. Your office clearly does not care about long term clients and respect. The office manager Elissa is a coward and does not call clients back when requested but send gaslighting letters to my home about accountability and restating things I have said to their office because they are unoriginal and unprofessional. Four years later and my eyes still couldn't be fixed by two South Korean board-certified surgeons after the THREE BOTCHED SURGERIES from Cohen. The damage is permanent and my eyes changed forever. I've been and am still suffering greatly from this nightmare. I've consulted with at least 6 other US surgeons and they all agreed that I didn't need the surgeries (blepharoplasty, fat grafting, Muellerectomy) that Cohen had convinced me to do. They all agreed the surgeries were horrendous, botched, and unnecessary. Cohen is only a ophthalmologist. He is NOT a serious, board-certified surgeon. I've spoken to other victims of his and the stories they shared were absolutely shocking and horrendous. Based on another review from one of his other victim, she said he seemed like a psychopath. After speaking with the other victims, I truly believe he is. Unfortunately, I was not able to file a lawsuit against him, but I believe there is one victim who was successful in bringing a lawsuit against him. I hope he can NEVER practice again and that she sues him out of existence. He's caused too many pain, suffering, and permanent injuries to so many of his victims. read more

I was recommended to my long-time ophthalmologist to Dr. Cohen for an upper blepharoplasty. I went to see him for a consultation and he told me that I should also get my lowers done and recommended additional procedures that I hadn't considered. Cliff Notes: I had an upper and lower blepharoplasty with Cohen and two additional corrective procedures. Almost a year later, I now have seen a corrective surgeon who told me that I need a skin graft on my left eyelid that is too short to close all the way naturally, (likely) permanent nerve damage on my other above-eye area (it's numb almost two years later), and fat transfers on the lower eyelids since Dr. Cohen broke the cardinal rule of lower blephs and removed my fat pads. Price tag starting at $15k. I've requested a full refund from Dr. Cohen. Pro: Dr. Cohen has a kind bedside manner. CONSSSS: Have a seat. In Nov 2021, I went ahead with the upper blepharoplasty and Dr. Cohen's recommendation for a lower as well. Dr. Cohen told me that it would take up to two years for the swelling and such to be back to normal. Then the nightmare began. After a couple months to allow the swelling to go down, my eyes were two different shapes and eyelid weights/sizes. I went back to Dr. Cohen and he said he really had focused on my right eye during surgery because the right brow was higher than the left. I was surprised he'd admitted to that but OK...part of why I liked him. He performed a second surgery on the other eye (left) and then was told to wait months for the bruising to go down. He also told me that he cut and pulled my eyelid extra tight to match the other and it would stretch over time. I've sine realized that this seemingly is an admission of his surgical error. Then I went to a work function and saw my photo on a giant screen. I realized that my lower lids looked worse than before the surgery. I went back to Dr. Cohen again (this was now Aug 2022) and he agreed that an adjustment needed to be made (also had commented on the heaviness of my right eyelid) and did the procedure on the lowers that weekend. He said that he had moved my fat pads in the original procedure and had to readjust them, and it'd be simple and painless without major bruising. Note he didn't address my upper right that he said was still too heavy. This "corrective" lower bleph was more painful than the two preceding surgeries, and the bruising was far worse than the first one. Dr. Cohen also said he took out my fat pads, which I've since learned are critical as they are what keep your eyes from looking hollow--the whole reason I had the procedure that HE recommended. Fast forward a few months and I went to a top aesthetician for a facial and she recommended that I have a lower bleph. I told her I recently did and she was flabbergasted. I told her that Dr. Cohen told me that he removed my fat pads and she was irate and said adding plumpness to lowers is WHY you have the procedure and he did the opposite. The aesthetician referred me to a corrective ocular plastic surgeon--one of the few who will address other doctor's mistakes, ie, BOTCHED jobs. I paid for a consultation with the corrective surgeon who told me that I had a lot of botched issues. 1) Need a skin graft for the left eyelid that was pulled too tight. 2) Dr. Cohen likely clipped a nerve in doing the right eye surgery and the area near my eyebrow will likely be desensitized forever. 3) My right eyelid is still too heavy. 4) I need a fat transfer for a permanent solution to my under eyes, and Dr. Cohen made strange incisions, and I can get filler but it will be expensive for my lifetime and Dr. Cohen didn't properly address the wrinkles. This corrective surgeon's quote would start at $15k--I didn't have them put together a formal quote because the doctor wanted me to try manually stretching my left eyelid that Cohen made too short because apparently the skin graft is horribly painful. Stretching isn't working, and my eyelid still doesn't close all the way. And the new MD wanted me to try a non-invasive eye drop to see if my right eyelid would open more. Then he recommended that I get filler in my under eyes to see how I'd like it. This new corrective surgeon was trying to find effective and inexpensive ways to help me as he said that the doctor who did my procedures (ie, Dr. Adam Cohen) seemingly had no idea what he was doing and I was "botched". FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR/SURGEON!!! Also please note that this review says my location is San Fran but I lived in Chicago at the time of the first surgery. read more

He really screwed up both my upper and lower blephs and it's going to cost more to have them fixed than the original procedures.

WARNING! DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY. This guy is a serial liar, a horrible communicator, a greedy and dishonest person, and a incompetent eye doctor. He has destroyed my eyes and worst he permanently damaged my perfect vision. I found Dr. Cohen while looking for specifically a upper eyelid filler injection doctor. Called his office to confirm and was told that he DOES perform that procedure. During consultation, he told me he DOES NOT do that procedure. He repeatedly pushed a Muellerectomy procedure and upper eyelid fat repositioning and grafting multiple times via face-to-face and email. Of course $6400 for those procedures is more lucrative than $700 for fillers and I fell victim to his greed and lies. He lied that he can provide steroid shots to keloids caused by eyelid surgery. He lied that he would provide drugs needed for surgery. My whole experience has been a complete nightmare. First picture of my perfect eyes 1 month before first surgery. Second picture is what happened because of the fat repositioning procedure that he did. During the first surgery I asked him to also add fat and not just fat repositioning. He rejected that request. I asked for the steroid injection to get rid of the large keloid from his poor skills. He rejected that request. Second surgery, he wanted to remove some of the upper eyelid skin. I told him he needed to add more fat to the hollow area and he rejected that request. During my follow-up with him after the second surgery, I was upset that the eyelid skin barely changed. He SPECIFICALLY told me he can fix it by either doing a filler injection or fat grafting. I caught him in his lie! I confronted him and his response was "I can do the filler injection. Oh NO, NO, I don't do filler injections". Third surgery he said he needed to do the fat grafting. Turns out I was right. But he had previously rejected that request for the second surgery. He said multiple times he will provide the relaxation medication for the third surgery. I was already on the operation table when he tells me he does not have any and that I should ask my friend to go pick some up for me. That wasn't possible so I ended up having a severe panic attack, hyper-ventilating, and crying hysterically during the surgery. During the follow-up, I confronted him on all the lies and the damage he did to my eyes and eye sight and the whole time he either wouldn't respond or denied everything. Third picture is him destroying my eyes furthermore and permanently. An eye doctor told me that my upper eye waterline is completely exposed and my eyes do not close completely during sleep and as a result my eyesight is damaged. I can't believe I paid almost $7000 for an incompetent liar to mess up my eyes and make me look worse. I regret ever meeting this guy. I asked for half of my money back, but he rejected it. I hope no one else ever becomes a victim to this greedy liar. read more

Dr. Cohen is amazing. He is honest and transparent. I love his bedside manner- he's like talking to an old friend. His office is comfortable and clean. His staff is incredible- They are like a family, and you feel like a member of that family as soon as you walk in the door. Aggie's facials are AWESOME- I received compliments on my skin for weeks after! I started going to them for med-spa needs, and will continue going in perpetuity. I'd miss them otherwise! Dr. Cohen has completely destroyed my eyes. I've consulted with 4 different oculoplastic and cosmetic surgeons and they have all agreed that my eyes are irreversibly damaged and there's no going back. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars to find a fix for a hosts of issues that he caused. I traveled to South Korea to try to have some of the problems fixed. I grew up being considered very attractive with beautiful eyes and now I look like a small-eyed alien. Thanks to him for destroying my confidence, self-esteem, causing depression, and suicidal thoughts. I hate this guy with every inch of my being. I'm currently talking to a couple of lawyers to file a lawsuit against him. Whatever new review posts that go up on yelp, google reviews, regarding eye surgeries with him, I believe, are all fake. I went to see Dr. Cohen for some eye problems 13-14 years ago. He was recommended by my primary doctor, and at the time, he was working as a neuro ophthalmologist. I went to see him multiple times for the following symptoms: I had been wearing contacts for 10 years without an issue. Then overnight I began to see halos and contacts were uncomfortable. It got to a point where I could not even keep contacts on for more than 30 minutes at a time. After multiple office visits, his explanation for my issue was "your pupils grew overnight." I am no MD, but I like to think I am knowledgable about medicine, and this seemed like the weirdest and most inaccurate diagnoses ever. You know what the actual problem ended up being? DRY EYES!!!! I was prescribed restasis by an optometrist a few months later, and I have not had the issue in over a decade. To this day, Dr. Cohen is probably the least knowledgable and most ineffective doctor I have ever seen. I did tell my primary doctor that as well, and I can only hope that he is still not referring patients to him. I honestly do not know how he got through medical school and how he still has a license. read more

I don't normally leave a lot of reviews but I wanted to given how great Dr. Cohen and his staff were. I recently had an eyelid surgery and could not be any happier. I chose Dr. Cohen cause he's an expert in blepharoplasty and because he had great reviews online. Everything from the first phone call and consult to the post-op treatment was amazing. Dr. Cohen really listened to my needs and made me feel comfortable throughout the process, and his assistant Elissa was also very pleasant. Dr. Cohen saw me for a potential sight loss emergency suggesting Giant Cell Arteritis based on labs and transient blindness. He was skillfull, knowledgeable and expert in immediately arranging for diagnostic bilateral facial artery biopsies. Surgery was excellent with cosmetically hidden incisions. Wow, I went to this joke of a Dr for botox as well. He must use a placebo because there is NO way that he injected anything similar to botox in my forehead. There was absolutely NO difference in my wrinkles. He also tried to sell me juvederm to fill in a wrinkle between my eyes. I was 26 at the time, no way in HELL that I needed a filler for a tiny wrinkle that really only needed botox. THANK GOD I didn't let him butcher my forehead. You are better off going to the CVS makeup counter and getting a wrinkle cold cream then going to this HACK. read more

Well, it has now been three and a half weeks since I had botox and results are worse than I had previously reported. The right line is completely back and the left one is deeper and the muscle next to it is still swollen and has not gone down at all since my last review. Dr. said he would send skin removed to lab for testing - I still haven't gotten results and it's been over 2 months. I called and emailed and did not receive a response, however, when I call the receptionist she said that the Dr. responded already; which is a lie. In addition I was billed even though I gave insurance at the time i visited so I had to call back in to clear that up. Then i received a bill from the lab group which I haven't received results from; and the Doctor's office did not forward them my insurance info. My 76 year old husband had eye lift surgery with Dr. Cohen in November. He truly was having his vision impaired due to all the extra skin that was drooping over his eyes. We were both a little nervous about having this done....but from start to finish we could not be happier with the way we were treated and with the wonderful outcome. Not only is my husband's vision much better...people are constantly commenting on how nice he looks...and these are people that had no idea he had anything done to his upper eyelids. He never had any pain after the procedure...and within a week most of the bruising had disappeared. Absolutely amazing. I approached some dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons because I wanted my skin tone to be more balanced and more radiant. I thought I would end up working with a dermatologist but Dr. Cohen and his staff ended up being the best choice (as in they made my dreams come true!). I really can't express how great they treated me. My treatment with him was dramatically more positive than any of the other doctors I spoke to about my issues. I heart Aggie! I love every treatment I have had at this office and I am never disappointed. I always schedule for a facial and I leave with so much more, but not in a "wow I just blew a bunch of money on stuff I don't need" kind of way. It's more like a "Holy batman these people actually listen to my desires and prescribe recommendations based on MY needs, MY skin, MY history" and everything else. The way Aggie handled the entire facial procedure made me feel like she was focused on me for the whole day. It all felt so personal and customized just for me. The products they use during a treatment are the same ones you can purchase, which I think is important (so you can continue the treatment without having to go back and forth like a crazy person). Horrible Horrible Horrible doctor. He presents himself as a cosmetic surgeon but he's not. He's an opthamologist, which , stupid me, I didn't find out until after he performed the worst eye lift ever on me. He left me with peaked eyelids that drop in the corners giving me a cross eyed look. I cried every day for months after the bandages were removed and the swelling went down. The procedure was covered by my medical insurance because my lids had drooped to the point they were impairing my vision. Unfortunately the repair work I will have done by a board certified plastic surgeon will not be covered, because as bad as Dr. Cohen's skills are, the results corrected the impaired vision. To sum up my experience with Dr. Cohen...I ended up looking worse than I did when I walked into his office, and he will have cost me thousands of dollars to repair the damage he did to my appearance. All Dr. Cohen did was remove an impacted stye from my eyelid. He did a fine job and I liked him well enough at the time. This is a procedure that any ophthalmologist can perform. HOWEVER, since that time we have entered into a twilight zone billing nightmare with his office. Before the procedure, I confirmed that he was covered by our insurance. Afterward the bill we received showed us owing virtually the total amount. When we contacted our insurer they said that Dr. Cohen is covered but his office used the wrong billing code and under the code Dr. Cohen's office used, it was not covered. My procedure was in April 2014. Since that time we have contacted his office no less than 13 times to correct this error; including a time that I personally visited his office to try to speak to him or his "billing person" personally. The "person who handles billing" has NEVER taken a phone call, "is working from home" etc etc etc. My husband sent Dr. Cohen a personal letter. No response. The woman at the desk has assured us that she has conveyed our messages and that the problem was resolved, the bill would be re-submitted properly etc etc etc. Every month we get the same bill with the added notation of how overdue our payment is now!!!!!! We have called Dr Cohen and his "billing person (Elisa)", our insurance company has called his office, I went there personally, we have written him letters - we have never gotten one return phone call and we keep getting the same incorrect bill month after month. Are they completely insane? Is this a fraudulent billing practice? Our next move is to report him to the proper medical authorities who might have oversight on billing practices. Why doesn't Dr. Cohen care that I came in, we have called and called, written him etc? I would never go to him again for any medical procedure - if I have gotten zero response in over 7 months for a simple billing error, what would happen with a more serious problem? There are a lot of eye doctors out there - if I need one I will find one that cares about his patient, his front office and responds to phone calls and letters and personal visits from a patient. read more

How could you go to this office and be unhappy?! From the minute you walk in the girls at the desk are polite and friendly, the office is beautiful and you immediately feel relaxed. I was referred by a friend for a chemical peel with the medical aesthetician, Aggie, and I had a great experience. She did a full skin evaluation and discuss what she was planning to do, but more importantly she explained that not only would summer maybe be the wrong time for a peel, but that I would really peel so if I had a lot on my social calendar in the next 5 days it was the wrong time to do the peel, which I can honestly say I was grateful to have been told. I would have been mortified to go to an event with my face peeling! She is awesome. I did a regular facial that day and scheduled my peel for September. Do you have that place that you only share with your sister or your best girlfriend? Well for me, that is The Art of the Eyes/ Dr. Cohen's practice. I truly love everything about their facility. From the zen like ambiance of the waiting room to the amazingly awesome staff, it is like my little oasis. My eyebrows and skin have never looked better and its thanks to Aggie. Honestly, I get compliments from strangers sometimes about how fabulous my eyebrows look - she is extremely skillful. I have consulted with other Doctors' offices about skin care options for laser scar removal and their prices have been 10x what they will charge me at Art of the Eyes, plus they are not looking to up sell you there. They choose a minimal approach to achieve maximum results. Now, do me a favor give them a try, but please don't tell EVERYONE you know because I really don't want to have to fight for my appointment times. ;) read more
