First time here... but certainly not my last! Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner... and I ended up loving EVERY dish! I started with a glass of wine and we ordered the bread service. The bread was pretty soft, but loved the butter cheese melted in between each slice. We also tried the East Coast Oysters, the Campanelle, and the Salmon Vesuvio. Everything was prepared so well; I loved the crust on the salmon and would have loved more flavor for the side of gnocchi, but I still enjoyed the dish. We also ordered the banana bread donuts for dessert... these were warm, not too sweet, just very excellent as well. Also had to end the dinner with espresso martinis.. which really hit the spot :). Overall, I loved the ambiance in Adalina. It's a nice restaurant, but not straight laced, nose in the air kid of venue. I am not even sure where to begin. The food was underwhelming. I had the clam chowder and it was gross. The crudo was ok. My wife had the truffle Caesar it was ok as well. When the entrees and sides came the waitress spilled the sides all over my coat. She tried to get it off but it was a lot. She said she was sending the manager over but we never saw that person. The waitress that plated was different from the table waitress so when she came over she said oh I will have the manager come over (voluntarily) we said no rush, but he never showed and it wasn't that busy. I had called prior to make sure they were open at 4 for happy hour since we wanted to enjoy the whole 2 hours of happy hour. I really don't want to say too many good things about this place since I feel like it could get quite crazy with happy hour, what I love about it is was that our server kami brought the most exceptional service throughout our 4 hours there. Went here on a Tuesday night to celebrate my 30th birthday. Easy to make reservations, and we were excited to come here since it was a special occasion. The space fills up throughout the night, and it progressively got more buzzy but not out of control. We got a bottle of wine, two appetizers, two pastas, and two desserts - so not a "light" dinner. I am a bit upset about our overall service since fantastic service is table stakes at a restaurant of this caliber. Pros: -The sommelier Alex was INCREDIBLE. She has a gift of storytelling and we were mesmerized. -The Voluspa candle scent is perfect and hits you when you walk in. -The bread service (like what these reviews say) is light but luxurious, creamy but not too buttery, crunchy but smooth. It tastes like a complex cheese pizza - so good! -The lumache has a slight kick and it would be DELICIOUS if it were served properly (more on that below) Areas of Improvement: -Our waitress was not friendly and we felt rushed to leave since she checked if we put a card down a handful of times. It would be one thing if the dining room was full and people are waiting to be seated, but it was not full. She was a bit condescending and not attentive (after we placed our orders, she came around to correct how the burrata is prepared, which is fine, but afterwards, she had an offhand comment & while not making eye contact, said "you got the lumache right"). It did not feel great. She did not check on us throughout the meal, and part of me thinks I could have been an absolute ass and she would have treated us better. -Even though our waitress told us she could course our our food, they came rapid fire, and we actually had to ask to have our already pasta sent back to the kitchen. This hindered the taste (inconsistency in temperate and in cook). Adalina hit our radar because we saw Exective Chef Soo Ahn on Top Chef. His creativity on the show was amazing. My husband also went to his previous restaurant Band of Bohemia (closed in 2020), which he also said was a selection of creative imaginative dished which were were amazing. First, we liked the atmosphere and the service was exceptional. Let me premise that our expectation for the food were high. We looked over the menu and saw that it was very traditional and plain. Which is fine if the food is exceptional. We skipped over the appitizers (which might have been a mistake) and started with a pasta course. Girelle Pasta, soooo GOOD, I can't even put into words the depth of flavor in the sauce and the pasta did such a good job holding the sauce and was perfectly cooked. Thats where the exceptional food experience ends. We decided to order the Branzino and the Veal Chop Parmigiana, two popular Italian dishes. The Branzino was fine. The chive oil brightened up the fish. The charre on the Branzino skin verged on bitter, but was very crispy (if that was their objective). The swiss chard was just swiss chard. The Veal Chop Parm was impressive in size and is served with no accompaniments. Also, fine. I've had better Veal Chop Parm. Both dished weren't bad, but they weren't notable. We've had better versions of both. We ordered a side of green beans without the cream, which were tasty, but it was just green beans. Coctails were also good. I ordered the Gangster Paradise, which was basically a blood orange margerita (no salt). Don't get me wrong, it was tasty - a nice combination of sour and sweet. My husband ordered the Jolene, which mimicked a peach flavor sour without the egg whites. Also tasty. THE BOTTOM LINE: We both agreeed we would return for the pasta, maybe try an appitizer next time. read more

This was my second time at Adalina and I didn't think my experience could get any better but it did! I was here in August for a wedding rehearsal dinner so I didn't get a chance to review it then but the food was wonderful. Yesterday I went for the Soo & Manny Top Chef experience. I was really excited going in and had high expectations as I am a huge fan of the TV show and expected the food to be delicious but they hit it OUT OF THE PARK!!! Every course was delicious. Right out of gate with the Hamachi, to the very last bite of the brown butter chocolate chip cookie. For me the standout was the Cannelloni which is shocking because I am NOT a fan of mushrooms. When I tell you I could've eaten 4 of these, I'm not lying. I'm thinking about them as I write this!!! Beyond the food were the chefs, Soo and Manny. They were beyond gracious, kind, approachable, endearing, they took this experience to the next level. Our table of girls were definitely "fan-girling" and they let us go with it and take all the pictures we wanted and ask them questions and we never felt rushed or that they were annoyed. We even saw Soo in the very beginning by the washrooms and he was gracious enough to let us steal a picture there. The love they have for cooking for people was evident more than ever in this meal. This experience, in my eyes, was a hit and I'd definitely be interested in more just like this if it were to become a regular occurrence. read more

The environment is very cool! Lots of chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, tables are close together, and music is pretty loud. I wish there weren't as many tables. It felt very crowded. Service was very fast. We ordered 4 dishes and two drinks, our waitress recommended we get 6 dishes, which felt like way too many. To start it was Valentine's Day and they had a cute handwritten note and some truffles. Started with a dirty martini, xtra dirty and this was so hard to drink. I love my dirty martinis and this was straight vodka. My least favorite I have had in the city. They gave us a complimentary little bread to start, with marinara and Parmesan. That little bite was delicious. For apps we ordered the bread service. The flavors were nice, it was a bit too cheesy for my liking. Next we had the lumache and the chitarra pastas. These were both great. My boyfriend and I split everything, the portions are great sizes! I loved the lumache, it had a chili flavor which made the dish and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. Would return for drinks as it was a nice environment, and the service was welcoming. It took awhile for our food to come out, and the bread service and pasta dishes we had were "ok." The first pasta entree I had was too banana pepper filled/tasting and the chicken breast add on was small and dry (may have been sitting). The waitress (who was great) kindly offered to replace it with the gnocchi. It was better, but not overly fantastic. I also made a note in my reservation we were celebrating something, but received no recognition for that. Maybe the slow food delivery was due to busy time (day before marathon), which could also influence food quality, but we weren't overly impressed for the fine dining/price. Good food with a confusing vibe. Maybe im just a crotchety old man. Its just that this place presents itself as a nice dinner restaurant. But the tables are squished together and there's no separation from the bar, so it is hard to hear anything. All the meats and pastas we had were good good. Fancy cooked pasta and moist meat. The Malfadine -artichoke pasta was our favorite. Tasted like a weird packet ramen flavored pasta but delicious. The grilled chicken and short ribs were moist. Also got the gnocci, bread, shrimp, bread, and burrata. Meatballs and burrata were just okay but nothing was disapointing. Went here for a business dinner with a very large party in the middle of the week. Service was attentive and good. Vibe and decor of the restaurant also good and quite lively. Tried a few salad dishes which were nice. Also some octopus and burratta apps. Bread service was unique we got served out of a pan and bread was hot with four cheeses in it. Place is heavy on cheese! For main I narrowed down to short rib but switched to a wagyu skirt steak with a citrus medley on it at recommendation of waitress. I thought it was average actually and kind of regretted the choice. We were staying at the Waldorf Astoria, so made a reservation here, as it was right nearby, had good reviews, and we were having a great weekend getaway to Chicago. Plus, we love Italian. Food: the food was great. I had the veal chop parmesan, which was excellent, but huge; I couldn't finish it, and since we were just in visiting, I didn't have a way to save the leftovers, but I did my best to put a dent in it. Very tender veal and very well done with the balance of sauce and seasonings. We had a bread service starter, which is like a small dish with dinner rolls, stuffed with cheese and herbs, which the wait staff splits and shares with each member of the dinner party. Was also very good. The one and only downside was the broccolini, which was overcooked - charred - to my taste. Maybe some like charred broccolini, but I prefer mine just blanched and buttered. Service: Probably the worst aspect, and not by much, and not the wait staff's fault. They just seem overwhelmed in the quantity of tables and diners. Generally the service was good, but it did take awhile to get our orders in and get attention sometimes. Other times the staff kept the water and wine glasses full, and we had mentioned we were there for our anniversary, so they brought us complimentary flutes of champagne or Prosecco. Ambiance: dim lit, fine Italian restaurant, with the quality table linens, attentive staff, and decorated for the holidays. But also very loud. My watch notified me several times that the environment was exceeding my 90 db limit for exposure. Definitely upscale; we were sure to bring button down shirts with us to dress up a bit. read more

This place was phenomenal, outstanding service which I have to mention our waiter Chad & Chefs. Chad was wonderful he was personable and knowledgeable. Most definitely will be going back and requesting Chad. The food was spectacular, we ordered several dishes, basically family style (Chads recommendation) I think it was the best option for us as a group of four, since it allowed all of us to experience most of the menu. I don't think there's a single dish I can point out that missed the mark. All of them were delicious and kept me wanting more of each. The food was quite good, we got the breakfast sandwich which has really nice and fluffy eggs, and I loved the chicken and French toast as opposed to on a waffle. Here's what you need to know: this is a super popular Gold Coast eatery and it's location dictates it's focus. The food is just OK, (desserts are excellent though) but it's the lovely "see and be seen" atmosphere that has its guests coming in. Service is good not great. Bussing team is trained to quickly remove everything from the table even if they interrupt you while you're serving your own plate from a main sharing plate on the table. Overall, all the food was somewhat enjoyable but unmemorable with the exception of the deconstructed pesto bell pasta and the desserts. The bread service was enjoyable too. Everything else from the octopus to the truffle salad to the seafood pasta to the gnocchi and the prosciutto was fine and serviceable but nothing to write home about. We had stumbled upon this fairly new restaurant ( just over 1 year) as we were walking the neighborhood, and the pastry chef was having a bake sale to benefit PAWS. We made reservations for brunch the next day. Went home and read some bad reviews. Based on some of the reviews about Brunch at Adalina, we were tempted to cancel our reservation. Glad we gave this restaurant a chance. Yes the Brunch options are limited but they were delicious. Portions were larger than it first appeared. We ordered 1 item from the sweets section, 2 appetizers, and 1 from the brunch section. Could have eliminated 1 item, since we were so full. We ordered the sourdough croissant, meatballs, gnocco fritto, and duck. All were tasty but the standout was definitely the gnocco. Creative variation to a typical charcuterie plate, with puffy bread, prosciutto, and ricotta with honey. The drinks were also delicious. Music was needed to drown out the chatter, which was surprisingly nosy. Though we would have expected the music to be jazz, they had a singer playing more modern tunes. He had a nice voice suited for the pleasant atmosphere. Be aware that the restaurant adds additional service charge ( about 3-4%) to the bill and included in the taxes line. Very beautiful place the second you walk right in. This is a great lovely place to have brunch with a friend that's a bit fancier. The staff were great and attentive. They were very friendly and helpful for any questions my friend and I had. My friend and I shared all our food together and we enjoyed it all. We got the pastry board as recommended and wanted to try the pastries to offer. We enjoyed the pastries as they were different, had some seasonal items, and were delicious. For our main entrees, we got the Gnocchi della nonna ($20) and the roasted duck & egg ($21). Both dishes were great! I highly recommend ordering both to eat as they were delicious. The gnocchi is homemade and was very soft. The sauce was delicious and was seasoned well that I even enjoyed the tomatoes in the dish as I don't normally like tomatoes. The duck was cooked very well and the egg went great with it as it also got soaked into the potatoes too. Both dishes are a must to try! The service was great but since it's a popular restaurant, it did get loud and hard to talk. Also reservations are hard to get - most days only had 5:30pm or 9:30pm available. I feel pretty neutral about Adalina. The overall experience was a solid 3.5 (rounding up for Yelps sake). We showed up for our 5pm dinner reservation around 4:55 pm. They said 5 minutes please -- okay, no problem. We go to the bar and the bartender is stand offish. We go back to the hostess at 5 and they we need more time. About 15 minutes later we were seated. At a place as expensive as Adalina, when I have a reservation at 5 I expect to be seated at 5. Our actual waiter was great though. She was very nice but talked so fast it felt like we were being rushed. We had the bread service -- yummy. Shrimp cocktail was just a normal shrimp cocktail, nothing special at all. The gnocchi was alright -- could tell it was finished first and had been sitting for the rest to be finished. The pan seared scallops were my favorite. I really enjoyed the creamy sauce the scallops came in. The mushrooms and onions were my favorite part of the roasted half chicken, although a little salty. The ricotta whipped potatoes were overly salted for my taste, but would have been delicious otherwise. I don't think I'd return -- maybe to try brunch, but also I'm not convinced it would be that impressive or worth the price tag. read more

Between the two of us, we got quite a lot of food, as well as two cocktails. Luckily the food portions are pretty decent, so we were absolutely stuffed afterwards. The dish that you MUST get is the bread. I am pretty sure this bread was the highlight of my experience. Honestly, I would come back just for the bread. We were hesitating on deciding whether or not to get it, and the table next to us told us that we HAD to get it and that it was absolutely amazing (and they were right). This restaurant is luxe and timeless. I loved the entrance with the painting of the woman on the staircase. The decor and ambiance of the place is so rich, an awesome place for a celebration dinner. We ordered two pastas and ended with some dessert wine. The food here is very modern like the pesto pasta isn't what you imagine it to be off the bat.
