Yes. Absolutely professional and extremely helpful. I typically hate going for the exam, but every time I go here, I forget why I'm fearful. Dr. Fishlyn is outstanding and clearly loves his job. The lady who helped me pick out frames was also fantastic. The first pair she picked were the ones I got. What can usually be a stressful and overwhelming experience becomes quite pleasant. Also, I went for my exam just before vacation. I was expecting that I wouldn't have them for the trip, but they managed to have them for me before I left. AND they also took my VSP insurance. So, I was able to get great glasses that were better and cheaper than what I had previously bought at a mall chain. read more

This was one of the most unprofessional Eye Dr experiences I have had the displeasure of having. Dr Buckley was one of the rudest professionals in the business and admitting to any error is not in his vocabulary. After an initial eye exam he gave me my RX numbers for both near and farsight. I brought in my old nearsighted glasses as well as the old numbers trusting he knew what he was doing. After that exam I ordered my far and near glasses from another business (after spending a large amount of money), and was shocked to find once they came that the nearsighted glasses were completely wrong. I was unable walk with them on or read and see anything that was not directly under my nose. Not even my phone was readable. I emailed him several times thinking this was just an error on his part but with each email he dug his feet in not taking any onus of blame and quoting nonsense about adding numbers to the farsighted ones. None of his emails made any sense. I asked for a visit to clear up this most definite error on his part and today at my 12pm appt I realized there is just no talking or reasoning with someone who doesn't understand how to talk with customers. When I walked in I said hello Michael (he addressed and signed off of all his emails with his name), and he quite callously said address me as Dr Buckley. At this point I realized reasoning with someone like him would not be easy. When I asked him if he thought going from a 3.75 (my old rx) to a 6.25 made any sense at all he pretty much stuck to his mathematical equation of adding 2.25 on top fo the farsight rx. Again MADE NO SENSE? He then corrected my numbers and actually had me walk around and read with them, something he DID NOT do during my exam. At the reception desk, another customer walked in and Dr Buckley's demeanor changed to someone pleasant, the direct opposite of what I had encountered with him. Once I had the new numbers in my hand I asked him very simply why he hadn't walked me around and tested me then the way he did now to avoid all of this. He again dug in his feet and then let slip and mentioned his numbers were correct for bifocals. BIFOCAL?? I never asked or wanted bifocals. This is truly not someone I would trust with my eyesight numbers but the most disturbing part for me was his harsh and hostile behavior and his inability as a professional to admit he was simply wroing and correct his mistake and give the customer the proper treatment they deserve. Appalling on many levels and I will make sure to warn my friends not to visit this place of business. If he wants to keep customers he will need to relearn how to treat them and remember the Customer is always right. What a waste of my time and money. read more

Worst eye exam. Pushed unnecessary procedure on me, which was an out of pocket expense. Very pushy sales- wise. Used numbing drops on my eyes without explaining procedure and necessity. The optometrist became upset because I refused dilation. I have never felt so uncomfortable getting an eye exam. read more

I only leave reviews when experiencing a true scumbag in the marketplace. Fortunately, that has only been three times in the last five years, but I must indeed document this third time. Facts only. For the past three years I have gone to Dr. Buckley for my annual eye exam. Last year and this year I purchased new glasses that cost over $700 each in addition to my annual exam. At the time of my exam we again discussed my potential for having dry eye. He examined my eyes and my tear ducts for evidence of dry eye and recommended an over the counter eye drop for dry eye. I bought it and it did not work. I contacted him again today which is a few weeks after the last appointment requesting a prescription eye drop. He refused unless I came in for another exam. The reason for this is SIMPLY SO HE COULD BILL THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR ANOTHER VISIT AND HE DID NOT DENY THIS! I confirmed with him that he could absolutely legally issue me the prescription at this time but he refused. When discussing this with him and reminding him I had spent about $2,000 in his shop in the past two years, he still refused to give me the prescription without another BILLABLE visit. They charge ridiculously high for frames. Please check other places before you put order. For example they charged me $340 for Nike Flaxo frame which is available in retail market well below $200. When I realized that after 2 weeks I called them. They bluntly told me that they make money on selling frames at that price and as prices were told to me before charging they can take it back. Bottom-line - I do not recommend doing business with them. If you have to, just check eyes with them and do not make frame. read more

I didn't have a "permanent" optometrist for many years. I would just go to whatever optometrist was convenient at the time. This office changed all that. Dr. Fishlyn and his staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Now I go regularly (well, as "regular" as I ever get to any medical facility) and they take care of everything. When it came to choosing frames and the staff was tied up with customers, Dr. Fishlyn came out and helped me pick out some great new frames! Highly recommended! read more

I never feel rushed with him nor in picking out glasses - the staff is great. Great selection in frames, takes VSP. I have been going to Dr. Fishlyn for about 5 years. He has always been thorough and professional. I also like the office staff. They have been friendly and accommodating when I've had to change my appointment times. I also had no trouble getting in to see the doctor when I was having some eye pain that I couldn't figure out. Dr. Fishlyn diagnosed the issue immediately and gave helpful instructions for healing. When I started going to Acton Vision, I wore contacts. Then I had LASIK surgery to correct my vision, and have stayed with Dr. Fishlyn for my annual eye exams. read more

I have worked side by side with physicians for the last 18 years and is clear that some are a bit eccentric but there is a science to their madness. Dr. Fishlyn is the most unprofessional and nasty individual I have met in the healthcare field. I read some bad reviews before going to my appointment but I gave the benefit of the doubt bad mistake, we had a terrible experience, he gave all three members of my family the incorrect prescription adding to the cost, time and energy invested in the whole process. I wish I had known about these guys first! Although I don't live in Acton, I went here on a recommendation. I wear tri-focals (yeah, I know, I'm ancient, over 50) and it's hard to find stylish frames that also don't mess up the prescription so that I'm staring at things with my chin raised. Dr. Fishlyn is meticulous, and his office staff are frank about what looks good, go find the right frames you've missed on the rack, and explain everything. Excellent. read more

As of today, Dr. Fishlyn is my new Optometrist, & I'm delighted. He gave me a thorough & professional exam, (using state-of-the-art equipment) explaining everything he was doing as we went along. He answered all of my questions, followed up on all of my responses on my "new patient questionnaire," and diagnosed a number of critical issues that my prior Optometrist had missed. I cannot recommend Dr. Fishlyn highly enough, and I am not one who is easily impressed. (This is the first time I've rated a doctor online.) This is a man who knows what he's doing, cares about his patients, and takes the time necessary to do an excellent job. My guess is that he likes what he does, so it's a win-win situation. Lastly, the gentleman in the front office was equally pleasant, and very knowledgeable about their excellent selection of frames. read more

Dr. Fishlyn is an excellent Eye Doctor! I credit him with helping to save my eyesight by detecting a pre-Glaucoma condition. My previous eye Doctor only did a "puff" test because I was uncomfortable with putting drops in my eyes. (This doctor had passed away, hence, my going to Dr. Fishlyn). Dr. Fishlyn was adamant about putting in the drops and explained why this was so important. The result of going to him? I regularly see both him and an eye specialist. I use drops, daily, for my pre-glaucoma condition and, I am also about to have cataract surgery. Without Dr. Fishlyn's insistence on proper testing, I am convinced that my eyesight would have been compromised. He is always extremely thorough and spends time testing and explains what he is doing and why. My husband, too, goes to Dr. Fishlyn and, my mother-in-law, actually, would come from Cincinnati for she, too, trusted him so much. I regularly recommend him to friends and to my real estate clients who move to this area. My husband and I feel so fortunate to have found him!!!! read more

Imagine having your face in the lens machine, and Dr. Fishlyn leans in and burps his sausage lunch in your face. Yes, it happened to me. And after taking his suggestion for a different brand of contacts (which didn't work for me) he was going to charge me for another fitting to go back to my original brand. There are MUCH better professional optometrists to choose from. The office staff is polite and courteous but this little man treats them like crap too. The other reviews about his horrible manners are spot on. AVOID, and if you don't, consider yourself warned. I'd give him a negative 5 stars if I could. read more

This is a review about service after sale of prescription sunglasses. Sunglasses bought three years ago (with two-year warranty on frames). Since then, the ear piece broke off, which Acton Vision fixed, and just recently the glass broke at the nose bridge, while putting them into the eyeglass hard case. I paid $550 for the glasses and was very upset that they couldn't last more they three years after careful care (always put in slip cover before putting in case). Brought to Acton Vision, they said they would contact maker (Maui Jim) and get back to me. Later that day, got a call from Acton Vision asking if I wanted them fixed. I expressed my frustration at them breaking after no abuse and stated if they cost more than $50 to fix, I didn't want them done. Acton Vision then stated that she didn't know how much it would cost to fix but fixated on it costing $20 dollars in postage both ways to send to Maui Jim. We stayed in this vicious cycle for ten minutes until I finally said that I would just pick up the glasses since it was obvious that they didn't want to help a long-time customer (buying glasses since 2006) due to postage. This could have been handled much more professionally. But in the end, I picked up my glasses, upon which the same person went over the same scenario, wasting more of my time. At which time, I told her directly that she wasn't interested in helping me if we were hung up on postage. This caused the owner to come to her aid and literally chase me out of the store. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. You have other choices within 1/2 mile of Acton Vision. This store is not worth your time or money. They certainily won't honor or help you after any warranty expires. I went to Acton Vision because it was closer to where I work...HUGE MISTAKE...and one I will not make again. After going there I would drive 2 hours to go to my old doctor! Worst experience ever...Greg is great; however, Dr. Fishlyn is just curt and abrasive and argumentative about measurements (had his assistant measure me, then he did it over, then argued what was the correct measurement in front of me). When my glasses arrived they were incorrect. This practice does not have a waiting room so people just walk in without an appt. and then you have to wait even though you have an appt. Very outdated computer services as well...hand written receipt with no insurance coverage breakdown--SHOCKING! I just wish I had read some of the reviews prior to going...I would have thought twice. I think the only draw to this establishment is the high end frames. read more

I used to like this place. The staff at the front were very friendly and helped pick out many frames for me in the past. They always had great taste and helped pick out frames that matched my personality and that I absolutely loved. They have since lost these staff. The current staff at the front are very unfriendly. They talk negatively about the dr. non-stop. They are not helpful at picking out frames and in general don't seem interested to work there. I am very disappointed and now feel I have to go somewhere else to find eyeglasses. Please find some more friendly and helpful staff. read more

I wish there are negative stars so that I can give NEGATIVE FIVE stars -- this is the WORST doctor that I've ever seen and probably the WORST service that I've ever experienced in my life. Stay away from him if you can. I read some bad reviews before going to Dr. F but I thought it's probably not a big deal since I only have to see him once a year just for a quick eye exam, and I liked that fact that he's local. Unfortunately I was wrong. I took my daughter to him last year and she complained that she felt uncomfortable during the exam but I didn't pay much attention to it. We went there again this year (last week). I requested for the exam for contacts only and after the exam, Dr. F charged us for two items, the regular eye exam and the exam for contacts. I said that I clearly mentioned that I only wanted the exam for contacts only. Dr. F insisted that his receptionist had explained to me that the two exams cannot be separated, which I did not agree. Dr. F lost his control at this point -- he tore up my daughter's prescription and said the F words at least three time right in front of us. I was really shocked and said -- "You're not acting like a doctor. You acted like a baby." Dr. F then asked us to leave. I just could not move my legs because -- first, I haven't paid for the service that I asked for; secondly, I felt that Dr. F owed us an apology. Dr. F kept shouting at us that he was going to call the police. I said -- "OK, please call the police." So two cops came ...... Well long story short, I paid the full bill ($75+$63) at the end and Dr. F did not apology apparently. read more

Very bad experience for my son. The office claims that they accept children younger that 5. But the office is absolutly not child friendly. The staff don't seem to be happy, the Dr is Stern, has no smile during the whole process. In the middle of the eye exam, my son started to cry and wanted to go home. The Dr asked my son to read the letters, in stead of doing a matching game like other Pedi Optometrists do, which is OK for us because my son knows all the letters, but the Dr gave no encouragements at all, no smile either. The worst thing is, when I asked what could have caused near-sightedness in Young children, the Dr said "Eating too much!" and seeing I was so surprised, he said "Just kidding", I was speechless. It's sad enough to find out my 4 year old needs to wear eye glasses. Can't he be a little compassionate? My son is a cheerful child, always very coorperative at other Dr's offices. A little encouragments or sticker can blow him up high, but this office offers nothing, but seriousness! I would not recommend this office to any adult or children. read more

Plainly the worst eye doctor I've ever been to. My son and I have each been to his office a total of 7 visits and every time have had to wait 20-30 minutes past the appointed time. After the appointment, he and office staff repeatedly tried to sell overpriced glasses. Didn't want to give us a copy of the prescription so that we could fill it elsewhere. Then he blew it on my son's contact lens fitting and the lenses kept popping out. Finally, he wouldn't exchange the mis-fitted lenses, insisting that we return them to the company instead, even though several boxes were unopened and the company's paperwork said to return them to the place of purchase. Argued with his own office staff over this point. In summary, he is probably a competent eye doctor but is overly aggressive on making sales, he repeatedly overbooks timeslots, he botched the lens fitting, and has otherwise turned us off from ever going back. read more
