With the modern high tech scanning, imaging, comprehensive visit, and affordable services, I was so impressed with every aspect of Active Dental Irving. They were very thorough with all of exams, nevertheless explaining what it all meant in a clear and concise manner. They didn't tack things on that were unnecessary and even conducted fillings immediately (one of which was a chipped front tooth that was sensitive). The work was efficient and flawless (not flossless because they did that very well too and provided some helpful pointers). I was looking for a dentist, and Active Dental appeared to have a good review score. Therefore, I tried to get a "First Visit" appointment on Monday, 12-FEB-2024, and I called their telephone number twice (the number displayed on their website) once before 5pm, and once at 5:30pm, but no one answered. Their website shows that they are open until 7pm. Therefore, being unable to call, I tried the CHAT window on their website. At first, there was no response. Then, after about 20 minutes, there was a response. I asked for an appointment, and I was offered the next day or the next Thursday. I wrote that anytime on Thursday (15-FEB-2024) was fine. But I never received a response. I tried also to use the "First Visit" link on their website to fill out forms and paper-work, but it always failed. It is now 17-FEB-2024, and I never received a response for the time of an appointment on 15-FEB-2024. Therefore, I decided that there were already too many red-flags (unanswered phones, unresponsive CHAT, failure to follow up on scheduling via CHAT, and web-site errors attempting to download forms via "First Visit"), and decided to try to find a different dentist. read more

I went to a different dental office originally and they made me super uncomfortable so I was searching for a new professional dental office and I found the one! These people are very upfront about costs and procedures and what I need and they work with you instead of making you feel like they're cash grabbing just to get money. They have great recommendations for you if you need anything done. The staff are extremely professional and efficient. Every time I've gone to the office I'm not waiting around for two and three hours. Funnest dentist's office ever. Like... actually more fun than the one that I went to as a little kid, and that place had video games. I find it really weird that all the 5-star reviews of this place are filtered. Hmmmmmm. Well anyway, I'm a real person, and I like these guys. I've had both Dr. Strickland and Dr. Patel work on me (dude... I got tooth problems, okay? I grind in my sleep, it's bad). Anyway. For whatever reason, I always find myself laughing when I'm there. Seems like the staff and the dentists just have a great sense of humor. Plus... honestly, mostly it's that I find dentistry kinda hilarious, I don't know why. There's a lot of indignity to the whole thing, if you think about it. It's amusing. I'm kind of embarrassed to even admit how much work I've had done here. Um... it's kind of a lot. But whatever, it's all been good work. Some of it was cosmetic, and I swear to god a random cashier last week complimented my teeth. On the downside, in-office whitening hurt like the dickens. Or actually like being stabbed in the teeth with frozen knives, to be more precise. NEVER AGAIN. But that's not their fault, that's just how it works. Holy crap, y'all, don't ever do in-office whitening. The one case where I had to have a new(ish) crown taken off and a root canal done underneath, they didn't charge me for the new crown. I thought that was pretty spiffy of them. Oh, and they sent me to a shockingly awesome root canal-er (endodontist?). So, these guys are a 2-minute drive from my house. I should be ashamed for driving, really. But my point is this: if I moved like, 20 or 30 minutes away? I think I'd still drive to them just to be able to laugh with some laid back cool ass dentists instead of going to Dr. Stodgy down whatever new street I lived on. read more

Couldn't ask for anything more! Going to the dentist use to be a nervous thing but since I started going to Active dental, I never think twice about it! I can't emphasis enough how consistently friendly every single person there is! From when you walk in, you're greeted with smiles and the receptionists will even be expecting to you! I'm use to having to tell them who I am, when my appt is, what I'm there for.... Everything I told over the phone but they don't do that! I've also never had to wait more than a few minute before getting called in. They really don't waste any time and get things done. I really appreciate that they explain everything that's about to happen, no surprises. They're very thorough and give you good genuine advice. And the office is awesome! Who doesn't want to watch daytime talk shows to distract them from their cleaning! It's a very comfortable setting! Dr.Patel is awesome, he visits with everyone and goes over everything. I never feel like they may have forgot something because they show you everything they're checking and explain it all. And he always smiling and laughing, makes the experience so easy when a dentist can be more fun than scary! If you don't love your dentist or are looking for one, visit them and you won't ever need another dentist! I have been going to this dental office for several years now. I just had the best dental cleaning in YEARS!!! The hygienist did a FANTASTIC job. She was gentle and VERY thorough. The front office is terrific too. At my request, about two years ago, Dr. Patel set me up with Invisalign to get my teeth aligned. After wearing braces for seven years as a kid, I really value my smile. Over the years, my teeth had shifted. I am SOOOOooo glad I had the ability (and insurance) to get Invisalign. They tried a million things and it never helped. The dentists here are just too young and inexperienced. I have had horrible dental experiences in the past with the dentist being very rough during my exam and cleaning and not numbing me for a filling. Dr. Patel and his hygienists are AMAZING. I do not recommend this practice. I scheduled my first appointment for a cleaning and x-rays. I called again the day before the appointment to make sure they would be doing the cleaning while I was there, and I was told that they would. Then when I showed up, they said they would briefly look at my teeth and then I would sit with the financial advisor, and then they *might* have time to clean "or maybe just polish". I am a nursing student and am employed full-time. I don't have the time to waste a 30-minute drive there and back for them to tell me they aren't going to do what they told me they would do. The only other time I've had a dentist do this setup (no cleaning, meeting with a financial advisor only), it was a scam. They told me I needed porcelain caps on all my teeth and had 7 cavities, and they refused to clean my teeth unless I signed and agreed to do all that work (thousands of dollars). They do that because all the extra work isn't covered by insurance, so they get more money. I'm young, and my teeth look amazing. There was no way I was going to cap all of them. I went to a different dentist, and he said I had no cavities, didn't need any caps, and he did a basic cleaning. He and the hygienist said my teeth were in great shape. The other dentist's offices (not part of chains) I've been to will look at your teeth and do a basic cleaning and assessment first. Then they will discuss what they found and you get to decide what additional procedures you want. Ones that are setup like Active Dental and other chains don't want to do a basic cleaning because that's what's covered by your insurance. They want you to pay more, more, more and not get just the services you signed up for. Now I have to go through the process again of trying to find someone who will actually be a dentist (not a salesman) and clean my teeth. I am very disappointed in this experience. It was a waste of my time and felt disingenuous. read more

I find myself dreading to go to the dentist, and I really don't know why...it's probably just a habit formed from childhood. Active Dental does NOT disappoint. Right when you walk in, you're greeted with a friendly smile. Every single person I've interacted with, especially Dr. Patel, have been so inviting, and I think their customer service really stands out. I'm not just another number to this dental practice! Let me start out by saying JANE KIM, my dental hygienist, really knows what she's doing and she does it so gently! She's efficient, informative, and friendly! Dr. Patel is very knowledgeable, and I can tell he really cares about his patients. His bedside manner is awesome! I had a really badly chipped tooth from a previous filling and needed a crown, and I am one of those unfortunate people who easily gets decay between their teeth (yay) so I also needed a filling. I currently live in Chicago, but my family resides in the Dallas area and I make sporadic trips back home, so i decided to go ahead and get the crown and filling done by Dr. Patel. He and his team were very accommodating to my circumstances. Since I would be back in 2 weeks for the holiday, I came in 2 days later to get my temporary & filling, and then they rushed the lab to get my crown done ASAP so I can have it ready when I come back in 2 weeks. Talk about caring about your patients!!! I got an in-office whitening treatment after my first general exam. It was a one hour procedure, and GET THIS, they put on NETFLIX for you to watch!! I got to catch up with my episodes of House, M.D. (yaaass!). Talk about GENIUS! When I went in to get my temporary/crown, they also put on Netflix where I left it off at. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Lol. Sadly this place has a bad rep. I don't know why. The staff is extremely friendly and the Doctors know exactly what they are doing. It is a bit of a drive for me, because I live in Allen but I do the drive because I love this place. The prices are reasonable and the staff again is super friendly. They make sure you are comfortable and talk you through each process! To me that's extremely important. After all, you can't see someone working on your mouth, so the use communication by the doctors is extra comforting! Dr. Patel always informs me of what he is doing and always answers all my questions with detail. And if I have an questions I remembered later, I can call anytime and they are more than happy to help. They are so friendly, when working on you, you honestly don't know where the time has gone because they keep your mind preoccupied and keep your attention away from any pain. Believe me, I hate going in for cleaning, it's scary, let's face it, but the staff here make it a priority for you to feel comfortable and happy! I have been going here for a while now and I am in the process of having my teeth corrected through Invisalign. Everywhere else I went I was going to be charged over $5000, and my teeth are seriously not that bad. Active Dental offers extremely reasonable prices and are willing to work out a payment plan with you. I just recently went back for my 6 month cleaning and had a great experience. The assistant Stephanie was so nice and very helpful for explaining everything to me. When the dentist came to check the work he saw that I needed a few fillings. I have such a busy work schedule so I was worried I would not be able to reschedule. The receptionist was very flexible with me and I got in within a week to get my fillings. It is a very clean office which makes me feel very comfortable when I am getting my teeth worked on. Seeing the same staff every time I go in makes it a very welcoming place unlike some offices where the turnover on employees is high.
