Most of the staff here are very nice, however I do question their integrity. My first visit they completed my X-Rays and then did a cleaning. The hygienist said I needed a deep cleaning and that would be an additional $50 that my insurance doesn't cover. I haven't missed a 6 month check up with the dentist in years and have never been told I needed a "deep cleaning". I brush at least twice a day and floss throughout the day. That was red flag. My boyfriend went a few days later, and they told him the exact same thing. Another red flag. They also insisted I needed some sort of paste at an add'l $89. I paid and made my next appointment to have a cavity filled. I'm now questioning if I ever even had a cavity. Oh yea, they also told me my insurance doesn't cover nitrate and that would be another $50 I would have to pay. I've had cavities filled over the years with the same insurance and have never been told that I would have to pay out of pocket for nitrate. Pretty sure that was a scam for more money.
My next appointment, the alleged cavity was filled, and I was then told I would need to pay $200 out of pocket for the free-for-life whitening, however it would be refunded to me at my next appointment for some cosmetic work. Another red flag. I should have realized then it was a scam to keep my money. Why would I have to pay up front for something that's supposed to be free? I got my trays and whitening gel a few days later. The whitening gel doesn't even work. I came in and saw the dentist to ensure I was applying it correctly and I was. I tried it for 2 more weeks and my teeth never got whiter.
Fast forward to the day before my cosmetic treatment. The office calls me to cancel due to Dr. Garcia having to attend a funeral. Completely understandable, no big deal. They rescheduled me for the next week. I mistakenly forgot to update my calendar with the new appointment date and subsequently missed the appointment. I called the office as soon as I realized it to reschedule. Kelly, the receptionist, answers and is very rude and tactless telling me the dentist waited for me for over 2 hours and that I'd be charged a fee for missing. She then stated since it was my first time missing they would waive the few. She went on and on. She was so incredibly rude, it just totally turned me off. That was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. It really put a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). I called back 10 minutes later to cancel my rescheduled appointment and explained that I don't appreciate how I was talked to and wouldn't be returning. Kelly tried to change her tune real quick but the damage was already done. I don't expect to be talked down to for missing an appointment that was initially cancelled by the doctor. I understand it was my mistake, but I still deserve to be treated with respect. The same respect I showed Dr. Garcia when she cancelled. I then asked about my $200 refund and was told she would need to check with the Dr. Kelly then calls back and tells me I can't be refunded unless I come in for the cosmetic treatment as the refund is contingent upon treatment. So they're pretty much forcing me to come in to be refunded THE MONEY THEY ACTUALLY OWE ME. That makes absolutely no sense. To top it all off, I get a call a couple of days later asking if I want to have my 6 month cleaning at the cosmetic appointment. Y'all know good and well I want nothing to do with this dentist. This was their last ditch effort to scam me for more insurance and out-of-pocket money.
I want absolutely nothing to do with this dentist after this next appointment. They have no integrity, professionalism, or customer service. I will say Dr. Garcia's dental assistant Olivia is very friendly and warm, and I wish she would move to another office that knows how to treat their patients. There are hundreds of dentists in the DFW area, and I will be taking my teeth and money elsewhere. Do not go here unless you want to be scammed for as much money as possible and treated poorly. read more
