I did not know it at the time but the pump had failed leading to my CPU (i9 12900k) redline for the subsequent 4 months - by the time it was May, my computer would regularly screen tear during VR, crash during games, and I was at my wit's end. Marcus, the tech, explained that diagnostics are $99 which would be applied to any repairs. After he got started he sent me several texts to let me know what he was finding and what he would be doing. He determined that it was badly corrupted and he'd need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows. (If you don't back up your files like I do everything could be gone forever.) He also checked for hardware problems even after determining that it was software just in case. End of the story is that I got a like-new PC for $170, when I feared that I was going to have to buy a new one. All companies should operate like this one does - and I would say that even if they hadn't been able to fix it.
