Activate consists of many rooms in which you can play a variety of games in teams of up to 5. Nice concept for the pay-for-experiences crowd (which is large in Houston as there is not much else to do). If you are bored and have extra cash it is something to do. Came with a group on a Saturday and it was quite crowded so there was some waiting around for rooms to open up. My favorite rooms/games were Bop and Mega Grid, though I left thinking staying at home and playing Dance Dance Revolution is more fun. It's like a modern version of the arcade for young adults. Activate is a new immersive and interactive arcade concept that opened in the Katy Texas. I made sure to reserve a time slot beforehand and was required to pay part of the deposit to secure the reservation. When you arrive you check in at the desk and finish paying your deposit and then they direct you to make your player profile at the kiosks. You are given a wrist band to use to navigate through the doors of the games. Once you have activated your wrist band someone guides you to the rooms and explains how to move around on the screens outside the rooms and how to choose the different games. The wrist band also allows you to check your score and enter into the waiting list for the games. This location offered 8+ varieties of game rooms with different levels and courses for each room. It is definitely a great place to go with a group of friends to make it easier to advance to higher levels in the games. I had a really great time and ended up winning 2 rewards with the points I accumulated. In the end you are given a key chain that you can bring back with your player profile to continue accumulating points on. Overall I would definitely recommend checking this place out and will be back! read more

Went here with a group of 9 for my brothers birthday. If you already have an appointment the wait isn't that long, maybe 10-15 min while they get you situated. You can ask for a free locker to keep all your valuables/jacket safe before heading in. When you get there you in the front there's a bunch of tablets they make you fill out. (Username, email, etc) it's to keep track of your scores. Then you get a wristband with a sensor on it to "activate" yourself into the systems room to room. (There will be a guy/girl that explains the process) (You also get exactly 75 minutes to play so MAKE DUE WITH THE TIME) Anyway so it is pretty crowded but the wait per room isn't that long. The game itself goes by really quickly maybe 5-7 minutes. Which at first I didn't like but by the end I was grateful for. YOURE GOING TO SWEAT. There is ÁC but it's crowded so it gets hot FAST. And you're going to be jumping and running a lot inside so yeah you're going to sweat. I wish they had the AC on blast tho considering how hot they prolly know it gets. And there is a water fountain but it's by the restrooms. It would be good to have a few more sprawled out. Anyway the games were fun, the time was good. 8/10 is my rating and I def recommend for a good time. read more

Super fun! Took my 6 year old and he was fully capable of participating in all the rooms. We chose collab mode for the games and played with one another as a team (each room gives you the option of competing against one another or being a team). Also, each room gives you multiple different challenges to choose from. You have an hour which I felt was the perfect amount of time. We had a blast and will definitely be returning soon! read more

Family of 5 here and we all had an absolute BLAST here! We played in most of the rooms and quickly found our favorites - Grid, Strike, and Hoops! We have a variety of interests and athletic skill but we were all able to enjoy it! We went on a Sunday night at 5:20 and it was incredibly busy! The waiting area alone was packed and once we entered the game zone, each room had a line the whole time we were in there. Everything moves pretty quick but we definitely think there should be some cap on how many people are let in at a time. They're always encouraging everyone to "come back on a week day" but that's not always feasible. No matter what, it was totally worth it! read more

Thank you Kelly for posting the video of my car being broken into today. There were a few other cars that were also broken into and the management did not care or communicate this to the customers. The fact that there's now video footage I can use to make sure I get some kind resolution. They claim they don't have access to the cameras outside and on top of that they never even communicated that there was -a video footage & b the information of the assailant until at least 30 minutes later of going back and forth. The whole situation was handled poorly and instead of coming to some kind of resolution the assistant manager Kent basically said We aren't detectives and it's not our jobs to investigate. Obviously it's not your job but at the very least you could've announced that there were cars broken into and let the customers know to check their vehicles just in case. I was pretty adamant at first, when you pull up to the building it's all pitch black. Once we went inside and started playing the games it was really fun. It is definitely a workout. You have to book in advance and get 75 mins to play once you scan the bracelet they give you. It's 50% deposit on booking and you pay the remainder when you arrive. It's a hallway with multiple doors on each side. You can choose which game to play, it can also give you a description of how to play the game. Each room is different and games aren't too long (up to 3 mins max). I would definitely come back again with a bigger group of people. read more

Y'all. We came to Activate on NYE and had A BLAST!!!! First off, Arlo was so pleasant at check in. She walked us to the start point n I made a comment that she looked so excited for us because she was just a cheesing. She said, "I am. This is really fun and active!!!" The games were really fun! We live in San Antonio, but had so much fun that we will definitely be returning. There were plenty ppl there n I thought for a second that we would spend more time waiting than playing. Boy was I wrong. Me n my kids were EXHAUSTED and thirsty by the end of the 90 mins. After finishing the session, at check out, again, Arlo was so dang pleasant. BEWARE your car might get broken into. There are at least 4 reviews already on here of this happening and these reviews clearly state that management does not care. This wasn't in our case BUT management did state that they are aware of the break ins AND that their cameras don't work. They also stated they believe these people know the cameras don't work which is why they keep doing it. If this has happened already 4-5 times, fix the cameras???? read more

So much fun and a great bonding activity. My only complaint is that the AC is awful. I was dripping sweat and I don't usually sweat! I would recommended leaving a frozen water bottle in your car to drink after you finish playing. Clean facility and friendly staff. Love this place! I take my kids and sometimes I go without them because it's so much fun and so different than your regular arcade / game places. I wish there was a membership option because my kids could literally go every week and not get bored (ages 10 and 7). Also, I was concerned about taking my son when I read the website (I believe it advises 10 and up) but he loves it the most and is pretty good at most of the games. Fell in love with this place! I hosted my brothers birthday party here and from booking the reservation, to touring the facility, to playing the games, to enjoying the party, to checking out, everyone of the staff members were amazingly sweet and accommodating! Dylan, Drew, and Ken are informative, kind, helpful and went above and beyond. Everything is kept clean and functional. We used the lounge and it was a great space to accommodate everyone. We had about 20 people join us. Being in the actual play zone was so much fun! So many options and the 75 minutes didn't feel too short or too long. I would recommend going during the less busy times because you don't have to wait too long but it's smart how they'll allow you to level up but if someone's waiting it's only one level to get everyone a chance. read more

Walked into Activate and stood in line. The two employees at the check in desk were already helping people. A couple walks in and stands by the door and the employee Mark takes them before me. I speak up and mention I am in line and he states there are supposedly two lines, which wasn't the case when I arrived to the line. In addition, my family has been to that location prior and stated there is only one line that they pull from. Mark continued to help the couple and more ppl started to get in line. Still there only being one line and the employees helping the next customer. This ruined my experience. Won't be back to a place that treats their customers in that manner. We are all paying customers and whoever was in line first should be helped first. Do better MARK and treat people how you would want to be treated. The rest of the employees were very nice and helpful. If Mark can't treat everyone the same he probably shouldn't work at the check in desk. read more

When you make a reservation it lies and says you can begin when you arrive but they cannot guarantee the full duration of your reservation. When you lie like that, people plan their trip around your lie. We arrived 15 minutes late to 1 hr game play. We knew we only wanted to play for 30 mins max so we arrived late. We're GROWN adults... we know how to schedule our day. The rude, inept staff told us we misunderstood the terms. I can comprehend sentences and word. I can't comprehend made up rules on the fly. It was hot and unorganized once we entered the game play area and I was shocked they wanted to enforced rules about game play time when it was chaos as soon as you enter. No lines or reservations, just doors you hope are available to open and play on. After being forced to reschedule and come back later (I wouldn't have rescheduled if I wasn't with friends) I will never be back. I'll go to skyzone before I ever come here again. They told us we cannot use the last 45 minutes of our reservation but the terms and conditions said we could. Comical. read more

Sure the games are fun and everything and we had a good time but don't leave anything! After a fun session I accidentally left my Apple Watch in the locker. Once I figured out I left it I called them and the Lady at the front desk. Found it and said she had it and put a note on it and everything. A few days later I finally found the time to drive 2 hours out there and get my watch and the other lady at the front desk says nope nothing here. Waisting not only 4 hours of time but then says "Welp I can't find it so it's not here maybe you left it somewhere else". Worst experience ever! We came here on a whim just to have a little fun and with 75 minutes of playing time it was perfect. Once we finished, we went out to parking lot where we were greeted with the site of 15+ different cars with broken windows. There had apparently been a mass break in. To make matters worse, the entire team was aware that this was going on. They even had the exact time that it happened. Even with this information, the team made no attempts to alert any of the customers that this was happening. We had the pleasure of finding out more than 30 minutes after the break-ins occurred. Management is a joke, the assistant manager on second shift refused to get the manager for us and when she did, she told him that there were 3 black guys causing a commotion. I can tell you with absolute certainty that we will never support this business. Their lackluster approach to customer service is abysmal and it is clear that everyone needs another round of training. As for management, complete jokes. read more
