Activate games is one of the funnest things to do indoors in Houston lately! Is it cold and rainy outside? Come here next time you're thinking of something fun to do! This place ideally works best in groups of 5, but we saw many combinations of families, friends, date nights, etc. We simply reserved online, checked in at the desk, put our stuff in a locker, scanned our wristbands, then went crazy trying all of the different game options. There is a variety of teamwork based games, competitive individual games, strategy, physical, speed, and mind games available. My personal favorites were mega grid, sequence, asteroids, and basketball. I won't give them all away though because that's part of the fun is seeing what all Activate has to offer. Overall, Activate is guaranteed to be a good time. My friend group can get competitive so we got into it for sure. My only small complaint here is that when this place gets busy, you'll have to wait for a room to open up. Come during off peak times and it's literally endless fun, enjoy! read more

For Teacher/Educator Appreciation week Activate offered a free game to all that are eligible. We showed up around noon or so. Honey, Activate is made for children. There were kids everywhere. The place was overstimulating to say the least. The staff were really great overall and helpful. Will I return? Highly doubt it. read more

I'm always amazed at all the new ways businesses find a way to tap my credit card. Activate Games is an interactive arcade for both kids and adults. Games involve running, jumping, throwing balls, maneuvering around lasers, etc. Each game is in its own room and scores are kept on your profile. You can compete as a team or against each other. Max capacity of each room is 5, so if you have a group bigger than that, you'll need to split up. If you decide to bring your kid, I recommend they be able to do things like throw a ball somewhat accurately, toss a basketball in a hoop, or be able to reach high enough for some interactions. I know my 4 year old won't be able to do most of these, but can't wait until he grows bigger to be able to. Some of the rooms had little quirks that needed addressing. For example, the laser guns did not work for us, one of the stepping tiles didn't react, one of the screens had the touch screen keyboard pulled up accidentally (covering half the screen). Make sure you wear athletic clothing and stretch before going. Fun place for team building, fun date, friends hangout, or just letting the kids burn energy. read more

Great way to have fun and be active in the process! Highly recommend for hanging with friends, parties, or team bonding excursions. Lots of variety in the types of games offered. Each game room has different variations of games to keep things fresh. As you complete one level you unlock more challenging levels to play, and those unlocks stay with you on subsequent visits. I just wish their leaderboard was more universally competitive rather than pay to win. read more

I didn't know what to expect for my first visit, but our group had a great time! This is a great indoor activity for older elementary school age and up. When you check in you can opt to get a locker to hold your stuff. And you get a quick walkthrough of how to start at each room. When they say Activate, you're are definitely going to be ACTIVE haha! There are several games in different rooms where you can compete as a team or against each other. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes like you're going to exercise. There's about 10 room offering 5+ different games but if you get there when there's a crowd there can be a wait but the games are all pretty short. Wish there was video instructions because sometimes you can Easter half your game trying to figure out what you're supposed to be doing. My friends and I heard rave reviews about this place on TikTok, so we made sure we stop by before we left Houston. Took my God kids out for a fun game night. When you enter you are able to get a locker for your belongings. Once you create your account you make a username or can choose from the computer generated options. If it's your first time the staff takes you through a tutorial so you can see how everything works including "how to" play games etc. The staff was very helpful and friendly suggesting to use the restroom prior to starting your game play time. Each games is about 1-3mins. Which is great to minimize wait time. The games are truly active so you will get a workout! The break in between isn't so bad as far as wait time. However we did go on a Monday so weekends maybe longer. The only issue we had was the AC seemed to be non existent. With Texas heat and moving around constantly it was very hot and we were all sweating a lot. Activate was a surprisingly fun way to beat the Houston heat on a Saturday afternoon. My friends and I made reservations online ahead of time, and upon entering we signed a waiver, got a wristband for game entry, and placed our belongings in a locker. We had 75 minutes of play, and it was just the right amount of time. The various games were very fun and some required more physical activity. My personal favorite was the Maze room. Each room has a variety of themed games and it's all so much fun, some harder than others though and with varying degrees of activity levels. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. 75 minutes of indoor physical gaming. For $25 (weekdays) it is so worth it! So glad to see that the katy area is getting more interactive fun places like this, and in my opinion, this is THE BEST activity in katy. The employees are super nice, helpful with explaining how it works and they are always roaming around if you need them. You will get the chance to use each room(!!), if you want to try a room tap your band so you'll be in the queu, and it will push out the group currently inside as soon as they finish a level (each level is about a minute if I'm correct) so then your group can go in. Each game has a short description and small animation to show you how to play so it makes easier to choose which one to play 9 rooms (and 1 labeled coming soon) and each game is for 2-5 people. It was just my bf and I and so we would have the room to ourselves each time. We tried out each room! The only one we didn't care for as much was portals, only because we think it works better with 3 or more people. Each room has atleast 2 different modes(some have 5 or 6), and each mode has 10 levels! We will be back for sure, atleast twice a month. Also as you rank up you'll get small prizes! We got keychains that are linked to our accounts that we can use to easily tap in on future visits. Plus you can check your scores/stats online. For those anxious about parking and not familiar with the katy area- huge parking lot you will never have an issue with parking. Only con-Needs better AC. With how much you're moving around you'll sweat for sure, and it would better if it was kept cooler in there Tips- bring a water bottle, you'll get thirsty. Wear athletic clothing, I wore leggings and a regular tshirt and wish I would've worn a more athletic shirt. Athletic shoes too! Also stretch beforehand, don't pull a muscle like I did lol Ps- as of right now they do not have lockers! They are working on it. So keep your items to a minimum when coming in and leave most of your stuff in the car. It's a phenomenal idea- getting people active and moving in really fun, interactive games that in contrast to something like laser tag, actually gets you running. There's a great variety of games, we were constantly moving between rooms. There's your standard arcade issues- balls getting stuck, occasionally you have to step more than once on a square, but it's rare and has next to no effect on the experience. This was my second time here and we had just as much fun as the first time! It's almost like a real life Mario Party. The first time we went it was extremely less crowded - this time it was PACKED. Thankfully, each session is timed by actual play time. Not how long you've been there. My boys loved the hoops but we had so much fun in every room, either trying to figure out the rules or with a little friendly competition. There is live scorecard projected in the lobby which shows the top scores of all players that day. When you leave and return the wristband, you get a keychain that saves all your scores. Activate is such a fun place for all ages! I've been twice and had a blast each time (second time around had some kinks that needed to be worked on though). Online booking is easy and the front desk check-in ran smoothly both times. I highly recommend wearing athletic wear and tennis shoes! I also would avoid coming when it's a major school holiday as well. We went a few days before New Year's Day, and it was super crowded. We were kicked out of each game as soon as the first round was over because there were people waiting to play. Also, one of the rooms was under maintenance so it sucked having to deal with a huge crowd plus a room that wasn't even working. Overall, it's a fun place and we will be back! read more

We had a great time at Activate. We did a 75 minute session on a Saturday afternoon. They have a parking lot and it wasn't too crowded so parking was pretty easy. Some things to remember: wear sneakers and comfortable workout clothes because there are some rooms that require running and jumping, and you get one locker per party so don't bring too much with you. After you choose and register your wristband with your username, you can swipe your wristband to enter each room with a maximum of 4 other people (5 total) and each game lasts a couple of minutes. The most popular rooms are Hoops, Grid, and Megagrid. Portals was probably my least favorite room and I would probably skip this room if I were to go again. The one downside is some of the game sessions are pretty short, but overall it was a fun group experience. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. We booked a reservation for 7 at 2:00 pm. Nowhere during booking or in the confirmation email did it say that everyone had to be there by 2:10. When we showed up, the staff was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. Instead of trying to work with us or offer any solution, they just shrugged it off. If you're going to enforce strict rules, at least communicate them clearly. Don't waste people's time and money with fine print that doesn't exist. The manager at this location told their workers that "They do not care since this happened outside of Activate and on a parking lot." Right when my group of four got outside the door of Activate, an African American female approximately 5'7-5'9 wearing a burgundy hoodie. I let the worker know about the getaway vehicle and the perpetrator. This happened at 3:57 pm. They broke into a white range rover. After our group was done with Activate, there were also break-ins for cars in that area. Management should have relayed to their customers that this was happening, but it appears that Management does not care. In addition, I let the other group of people in the parking lot know about the footage, car, and perpetrator involved. They said Management did not give them any information that I had communicated to them before the start of the Activate. TLDR: Beware that Management will not care if your car was broken into and will not relay information; they will instead withhold information. read more

And I honestly suggest to try avoiding them if possible. Only because you only have I believe 85 minutes to play inside and when it's busy you have to wait in lines. And you get kicked out of your room pretty fast because someone's waiting to come in. I've been to one with less traffic and I enjoyed it more just running room to room. I really wanted to like this place but it fell short of us enjoying the gaming experience. We came on a Saturday evening to the last time slot 11pm and according to the email we were supposed to arrive 15 minutes early which we did and were told to sit down and wait. No one came up and asked us if we've been here before if we knew what to do nothing so we just sat there for 15-20 minutes until a young lady with the red braids finally helped us out and told us how to sign in and create a player profile. After we did this, a young man escorted us to where the games were, and explained how to play the games which we really didn't understand which I verbally stated so he was no help at all another person who was playing the game who was waiting in line behind me showed me and my kids what to do which was very helpful. So customer service was lacking in my opinion. I've been to another interactive gameplay establishment here in Houston called immersive game box, which was way better than this place. First of all this place if you're going to be running around playing games they offer, no beverages, and no drinks (immersive game box they offer, beverages and you have your own little private play box to play in) As others have mentioned these games require a lot of movement and cardio so the fact that this place sells no water or beverages is ridiculous! We're literally coughing and out of breath playing these games you would think they'd have a drink/snack area. Activate offers a variety of games but you have to wait in line (wait times are very short) When You enter the room to play the games it would be helpful if they explained how to play the game before you begin. They do explain on the screen but you have no time to review the rules as soon as the screen says GO you have to enter the room immediately! In all honesty I spent about 60 seconds or less in each room because we had no idea what to do in some of the games. A few of the games weren't even working we went in one room and it was completely frozen like the software had frozen. This actually happened on two or three of the games where we could not play. There were no employees around to report the problem either. There's only one sanitizer all the way at the end of the hall. I don't know for $100. I definitely did not enjoy my experience here and definitely won't be back. Definitely check out Immersive Gamebox we had a much better experience there! read more

A very enjoyable place to have a little fun, get competitive, or simply get a workout! It has a Varity of games that challenge players mentally and Physically. Dodging lasers, playing b-ball or running all over the place in the grid. We so wish they had a bit more even at this point if I am being honest! The price may also seem a bit high, but give it a go. For us, we have become very competitive as Akion and Azuki. We hope to see the place grow and prosper as it figures itself out. Be warned, on weekend it is too crowded. Took my son and his friends (total 5 teenage boys) for his birthday on Good Friday. Went online and book the 1st availability that week @ 10:20am. Came in was greeted right away and ask if we have been here before. I said no and the young lady told me to fill out the form on the tablet on the wall. It was pretty quick. All 5 boys activate their bands. There is a wide hall way. Each side has like 7 rooms on each side. Each room has like 2-5 games you can activate to play. Read the info on how to play. The door will open for you to go in. In someone is in there playing, it will say "please wait". Once there done, the door will unlock for you yo go in. You have 75 mins to play. If your done you can go back to play the ones you like. If your need help there are always several employees in the hallway to assist you. Mon.- Thur. $24.99 & Fri.- Sun $29.99. I recommend you go on a weekday during the day time if possible. We got there when they open 10am and it got pack very quickly. There was a sweet girl name Evelyn that I found out it was her 1st day there. She was an amazing. She help monitor the rooms to make sure no one got stuck or hurt inside the rooms. She was extremely informative & helpful with all the questions we had about the games. Everyone customer service here was top notch at Activate. Definitely will come back for future gaming and birthday parties. It's for all ages and great work out. At the end you can check the big monitor on the wall on your play status. You can use the score/points you earn and get some prizes they have when you leave. There are resting benches, water fountain, and clean restroom if needed. read more

Super fun! Took my 6 year old and he was fully capable of participating in all the rooms. We chose collab mode for the games and played with one another as a team (each room gives you the option of competing against one another or being a team).
